    ### Start of shameless copy & paste ###

Read all of this before you start as it will save any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

    ### End of shameless copy & paste ###

    Questions:

    1. What was your biggest regret/disappointment regarding the hobby? A failed Kickstarter? A huge investment of time and/or money in a game that went belly up?
    2. In your favourite board game, is there anything you’d really like to change? A certain rule, scale of the minis, support by the company or just the price?
    3. As we are part way into November: do you have all Christmas presents for all your loved ones?

Bonus question: what is you biggest wish for Christmas?

Well it is that time again.  Happy Weekend.

Pledge – I need to do some painting.  Have painters block at the moment and have lots of tiny fighty men and tanks that need a painting.  I also found the German decals I have been searching for for about a month so no more excuses!

    Questions

    1. Aged 19 I joined the gaming club at University but never went and didn’t do any gaming or modelling for about 10 years.  Should have went but I was more interested in drinking and riding, and the person who signed me up was rather disparaging about games like Blood Bowl, Epic and Fantasy Battle, which is what I played.  Thinking he was a twat, I just never went.  I really should have gone even just to have called him a twat.

    2. I don’t think I have a favourite board game… The last “board game” I played was Odin’s Ravens and it is great for what it is…

    3. Don’t do Christmas so don’t buy presents.  Also comparing me to a famous Dicken’s character who was an analogy for Malthusian and backward thinking will result in you going to a special page in my Book of Grudges.

First time participating in one of these threads so hopefully I’m doing this right. 😉

First, the pledge; Err, I guess mine will be to get some work done on my Chaos Dwarf Army this week.  Dig it out the other day and sorted it out into units.  Now I need to start conversion work on some (should probably also start a project blog on here at some point to chart the progress on it ?)

    As for the questions:

    1) Biggest regret is possibly not buying more Chaos Dwarf stuff when I had chance; never gonna happen, but would be great if GW started selling the big hats again ?.  Biggest disappointment is by far the Manorhouse Workshop Kickstarter; sank a couple hundred quid into it and have yet to see anything from it, and their customer service/public relations is abysmal.  It put me off Kickstarters for a while with me deciding that I’d only risk it for big names like Mantic, and I only went against that and backed a small name company recently because I know the guy behind it via a forum I frequent and thus trust him enough to take the risk.

    2) can’t really answer this as I don’t play board games enough to have a favourite one, let alone enough familiarity with the rules to make a judgement in what changes would improve it.  If we broaden the question to tabletop games in general, then I’d say my favourite game is probably WHFB and the changes I’d like to see are first, it being brought back (but not at the expense of AoS; I can see no good that would come from jettisoning one game in favour of another), second is like to see unit caps brought back, so that each unit has its own max size rather than all units being able to have up to 100 men in them, third is like to see some sort of bundle deal, such as buying two boxes of Core troops gets you a free (low level) Hero mini and fourth, to go with the last point a skirmish ruleset so people can start playing straight away without the need to dump a hundred odd quid into the game just to start, with it scaling up to the point where adding a warmachine and/or wizard means you have enough to play small games of the mass combat rules and can continue expanding from there.

    3) Nope; don’t think I’ve even bought anything yet! ?

Havent considered Christmas wishes yet…Hmm I suppose as I bought a Nintendo Switch Lite when they were released back in September, maybe a new game or two for that? ?

Hello! Pledge is to try and build more of my satriale’s shop scenery. secondly paint some of my moderns

    Questions:

    1) probably when getting back into the hobby about 3 years ago, wasting alot of time on 40k miniature kits, ultimately ended up liking metal miniatures and moderns/historical more – however its taking up loads of room and cant shift the stuff! Also a raging heroes kickstarter i havent even bothered to open.

    2) not a rule change, but plaid hat games bought out dead of winter – the bit id like them to change is actually to FOLLOW THROUGH with the idea that they were going to build more crossroad style games. I was excited to see the crossroads idea in different themes, but it never happened.

    3) not buy but me and mygirlfriend have planned what we are going to make, a bit of a food hamper and then also some home made decorations (which the hobby itself will help with.)

    4) have enough time to hobby – get a moderns game in with my brother as i have building the scenery for the board for half a year! haha

Urm… did a small correction on #2. I meant games in general. So board, miniature and card games. all the good analog stuff.

    My answers:

    1. Saga World Builder – don’t know if it’s somehow related to saga other by name (maybe @avernos knows?) It’s still sort of “alive” but I am not very confident to ever see some product arrive at my place.
    2. Limit activations in Star Wars Legion. Yes, it’s personal… 😉 Activation Spam is currently souring competitive play for me.
    3. Nope… dang it!

Well  a house doesn’t fit under the tree so more minis or an Airbrush and a spraybooth or such things?

Oh and I pledge to try to get my BattleMechs painted… but what colours? Pink? XD

    Pledge is easy this time.
Unbox my ‘tainted grail’ pledge ….

I also got a tabletop gaming convention to go to. 🙂
I doubt I’m going to see any wargames, but there may be a tiny chance of seeing Legion as they did have two tiny demo games when it was released.

    1) What was your biggest regret/disappointment regarding the hobby?

    Two words : Dropfleet Commander.
Such a great idea with so much potential … and then they sort of got overwhelmed by the demand.
I hope TTCombat can bring it back to life in the same way they did with Carnevale.

    2) In your favourite board game, is there anything you’d really like to change?

I wish wargame companies like GW would have the guts to remove factions instead of selling us codexes/army books filled with models that are exclusive or not so ancient they look dated (or both).
Their two favourites (Chaos and Marines) get all the toys, are dead easy to buy and have easy-build options so they are very beginner friendly.
The rest ? Not so much.
The bonemarines got lucky, because they got more stuff for being a new faction.
Gloomspite gitz got a few repackaged troops and everything else (including their flockin’ leader) is web-only …

Everyone else only appears to have their basic infantry and maybe a HQ option.
    *arrrg*
    Seriously …

    3) As we are part way into November: do you have all Christmas presents for all your loved ones?

    Can I say I hate Christmas ?
It’s not just the commercial aspect, but also how that Americanized version has managed to wreck the last bit of culture we have. As a final kick in the you-know-whats a small vocal group of *beep* *beeping* *beeps* have managed to hi-jack the traditional ‘Saint Nicolas’ celebration and turned it into a yearly whine fest.

We’ve got a flockin’ “Santa’s World” shop at a local shopping mall in November. Usually the *beeps* wait until Saint Nic has had his birthday ritual, but like I said … they’ve practically killed it because a few *beeping* idiots without a job felt offended by fantasy figures that may be interpreted as ‘racist’ if you ignore 99% of their historic origin.

    /rant v2

phew … I needed that. Thanks for listening 😉
Now back to geekin’ out about shiny games.
I don’t know if I will have any interesting pictures tomorrow, because new stuff tends to happen at Spiel in Essen.

    Hey,

it’s Saturday morning Aussie time, and I’ve got to get ready for work.
But my pledge for the Weekender: finish the wood elf horsemen and knock over the space marines.

I’ll try and pop in to answer questions during lunch.

    @woldenspoons  true that.

@limburger  I hear you… I wouldn’t say I hate Christmas but the mandatory family visits suck monkey balls. As both, my wife and I, have parents that are divorced we need 4 days to have coffee or lunch with every grandpa and grandma to our daughter…

The next game from Awaken Realms has a name : ISS Vanguard
    1-4 player co-op, space exploration.
The artwok is soo pretty … but that has become standard for their games.

I hate it … because I just know that I’m backing this one once it launches as I’m a sucker for games that can be played solo.

Single player games have an unbeatable advantage… you don’t need to go out and interact with “terrible humans[tm]” 😉

Single player games are like masturbation – it is fun but not as good as playing with other people.

Pissing down here – I honestly just want to go back under the duvet and read a book.
