@sundancer as a maze it kind of fails … but maybe that’s because I know of their tricks and they shall not tempt me.

It’s more annoying to have to walk through the entire store just to find where they’re displaying the stuff you want to see in real life. And to make things worse there’s these *beeping* families who seem to think that brining kids or the elderly to a store is a great idea. Maybe I need to drive a snowplough through there next time ?

@limburger maybe… I usually just go there when I know what I want and where it’s located and I use the shortcuts… mostly I enter via the checkout area because 90% of the time I want something it’s in the large storage racks at the end. Enter via checkout, grab boxes and turn around right back to the checkout. Pay and leave. But the other 10% of the time… when you have to search an item because it’s “somewhere”…. that’s the time when I feel like I’m in hell.

@sundancer yep … and it’s hell without hotdogs. At least I don’t think they have those at the local IKEA

The only thing that I like about that store is that they have the furniture available. In other stores it’s like “yes you can buy that, but you have to wait for x weeks or months to get it”. It’s like … do they want my money or not ?

Since I have a real weekend right now and not the 4am wakeup to ready myself before a 6 hour (likely to be a “surprise it’s an 8 hour shift”) I have all you wonderful people to interact with. I agree with food l, tea and then the weekender.

@dawfydd The box sets seem to be the general direction of GW big releases if my eyes don’t deceive me. The game sets of Necromunda, Warcry, Aeronautica Imperialis, the various “Start Collecting” boxes and now the Sororitas release. It was mentioned on last Weekender (if memory serves) that GW fancies itself as a manufacturer and not a gaming company. It makes sense in a way if they’re streamlining their products to be single boxes to just get up and go with instead of the piecemeal collection of parts (multiple vehicles and Forgeworld not included). Perhaps the big box releases are going to be what they work with from here on out with the limited ed. art as the big draw for owning the special version.

@sundancer There was the chance of a Wookie Cookie War my friend. There is always the possibility of sweater wearing wookies in your future.
As far as going in the checkout lanes the IKEA near me is one of the most recent built so its got that section slightly blocked to where you can’t easily do that. I fully agree with the “Get In, Get Gone” approach.

@limburger A plow might well be a little killy for getting through but my inner ork gives a hefty ‘Waaagh!’ in thinking about little children and grannies flying left and right off the front or bouncing off the side of my shopping cart as I careened through the store at high speed. Its a bit of the same satisfaction I get when playing Katamari Damacy at a certain point where school kids get stuck to the katamari.

I’m sure any Ork Mek worth his spanner would only wonder why the thing isn’t painted red and is lacking in dakka 😉

“Get in / Get Out” is how I do my shopping, except when I visit a (good) hobby shop.

1 How much have you already spend on hobby related Black Friday/week sales?

Hmm I bought half of a Battle of Pellenor Fields set for a future LOTR tournament. Forget I’ve never played, I have The Witch King, what could possibly go wrong?

How much more will you spend on this dreaded sales “event”

Just the money for the resin Placoderm defender for Vanguard. Costs the same as the postage for the Hellboy expansion I’m giving to me for Christmas and qualifies me for free postage. That’s economics!

Are you really thinking of buying more tiny fighting men and monsters and games and terrain although your POS is already *that* big?

My POS is pretty bad at the moment. I have 2 KOW armies to do for end of Jan then my LOTR Morannon Orcs for February. Plus an entire Primaris marine army for 40k. But no rush on that.

Bonus question: Why is there a burning hole in my wallet?

It’s nearly Christmas and you need to work on your Legions skirmish forces. Never have enough speeder bikes. When are they getting round to Gungans?

    > I call it a Mountain of Magnificence and Marvel.

Mine’s a Mountain of Madness, then. How’d I get two sets of Cthulhu Wars to paint? 😀

FLGS had a BF sale, and, while others were randomly milling about, I picked up Arcadia Quest at 80% off for $20. Then bought Xenoshyft and 40% off Reaper’s Golden Skin Triad because why not. (: Amazon’s been the boardgame killer with 50% off games that had good reviews, although I’ll never have time to play them. Chickapig at $14. Funemployed and Exit for $8. Gloomhaven Forgotten Circles for $19. Toss it on the stack, mate.

Anyone got any tips/hints/tricks for creating drama with your wife that’s exactly enough for her and the kids to go on to a family meal without you, but that she’ll still come back later without any arguments?

It’s morning. It’s Monday. Please insert favourite insult here. Good morning my off- and online friends. Far and near. Old and Young. I like you all a lot but if anybody touches my coffee… also: it’s cold outside.
