### Start of shameless copy & paste ###
Read all of this before you start as it will save any trouble later.
First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.
You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.
If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.
A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.
Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.
Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)
### End of shameless copy & paste ###
Questions of the week
- Why?
- WHY?
- F*CK WHY?!
[Question relate to the current riddle in “cogito lewd’us”]
February 21, 2020 at 9:32 am #1488808My answers:
1 -3 I don’t know…. somehow @warzan was on speed, crack, coke or sugar… still having headaches…
I lost a game of Legion yesterday and will not have much time this weekend… so mabe some hobby on Tuesday.
February 21, 2020 at 3:30 pm #1488924Greetings…
Well my weekend pledge is to play command and colours and plan some DnD stuff. That’s all I can do with my house being upsidedown.
Answers
1-3 not a Scooby as to wny!
Music for the weekend well not actually decided yet. Maybe some Rival Sons.
February 21, 2020 at 4:09 pm #1488940My pledge for this week is to paint the Nightvault miniatures and to rebase the endless spells that I completed a couple of weeks ago on to clear bases.
1) Why? – normally google does 90% of the work, but this time its no help.
2) WHY? – maybe its the sort of puzzle where you pick a letter from each word to form another word, but that got me nowhere.
3) F*CK WHY?! – finally I tried actually thinking about it, but that didn’t help either.February 21, 2020 at 5:02 pm #1488955Happy weekend peeps!
1. I need to finish watching last weeks XLBS
2. It was in XLBS wasn’t it?
3. Gonna watch it tonight anyway.
A Pledge – Put together my new Beastgrave minis
More sorting of the hobby room
I’m going to put some paint on something, I’m nor sure what yet.
Music is good for the Soul, have some –
It began in Africa ca ca ca
February 22, 2020 at 2:53 am #1489061My pledge this week, get a job, start earning money again and continue the good fight against my creditors.
Why? ….ummm…a simple application of brute force wouldn’t yield me the outstanding results I really desire
WHY? There was a special sale and I couldn’t resist buying those minis
F*CK WHY?! *glancing around slightly nervous as to what caused this line of questions but willing to venture a guess* Uhhh…. something to do with a safeword and the fact that stuffing feathers up your butt doesn’t make you a chicken
Now.. some music from around the era @thedace touched on
February 23, 2020 at 1:44 pm #1489469I got my pledge done. Woohoo! I got something finished.
I’d like to say it’s all thanks to you guys and your encouragement – but I’ve got to be honest, it’s the idea of winning an AnyCubic Photon printer that not only kept me going, but made me determined to actually finish something for a change. That said, I’m actually quite pleased with it:
This week’s pledge?
Well, I just finished printing out the Dwarf zeppelin from Titan Forge (it’s on special offer of just $1 to their Patreon supporters this month) and it’s crying out to have a motor jammed in it to make the propellors at the back turn around…. that’s my pledge – to take my wife out somewhere nice (to make up for taking over the kitchen table for a week) and to make a cool animated dwarf zeppelin.
February 23, 2020 at 4:32 pm #1489526February 23, 2020 at 8:44 pm #1489661Isn’t it odd that whenever weather things get female names they’re always the worst thing to happen ?
Flockin’ weather ruining the best weekend of the year … at least I managed to have some fun clowning around on saturday. It’s old (and I can’t find any recent ones on youtube), but it should give you an idea of what it was like :
The colour blue is used because it is linked to luck, so Orks aren’t the only ones who think it brings them luck 😉
More music :
I don’t know how to descibe this bit … so I won’t :
(I doubt anyone understands … it might sound a bit like German ’cause that’s what the local Dutch dialect is like)
In other news … I got the Human Interface kickstarter, but haven’t had time to unpack yet.
February 26, 2020 at 2:56 am #1490509Aaargh! Lost my initial post but here’s what I could salvage and build back…
@blinky465 Overengineer a dwarf dirigible. Check out my dead project I mailed to brennon. If he’s not going to work on it try and trade him for the opportunity to work on it. Once in hand scan the model and rework crap details I had to work out from the resin cast or just engineer for a clean new resin print. The balloon is prime space for tucking in the electrical elements.
I checked the official site for the manufacturer but it seems they may have fallen prey to GW as far as what is there for dwarves. Then again I think that’s a general market issue. If you ask them about the design they might release it for promo purposes so you could print up a copy to build with. If they were forced to bury their design that is out of the question but artistic ‘inspiration’ can always be claimed for the ship before the mechanical magic you could work on the gyros, gears and moving bits.
Here’s what I had worked on:
February 26, 2020 at 7:37 am #1490524@horati0nosebl0wer – that’s spooky! Because no sooner had I finished my dwarf forge and promised my wife I’d show her some attention, she got sick of my “getting under her feet” and asked what I was working on next. And since Titan Forge are on a bit of a roll with dwarves at the minute, they were giving away the smaller zeppelin this month, for just $1
http://titan-forge.com/home/207-ancestral-zeppelins
Of course, before sending it to the printer, I’d split the balloon in two, hollowed it out and created embedded magnets, so it can be opened up and have a rechargeable lipo battery hidden inside. I’ve already chopped the propellor off and hollowed out the “motor” that it was stuck so, so it’s ready to take a tiny stepper motor (I decided a regular hobby motor, with a typical spin speed of about 21,000 rpm might be a bit unrealistic! I stepper motor lets me regulate the speed it rotates, down to just a few rpm if necessary).
Servos will control the guns up and down. And I reckon there’s got to be a flashing LED on there somewhere…
But I love the viking ship idea. I might yet print another balloon and find a viking ship to stick to it, and see how the two of them look.
I’m away on my jollies from tomorow, so no playing with the cool kids for a week. But I’ll get back onto it almost as soon as the ‘plane touches down!
February 26, 2020 at 7:58 am #1490525So many nice projects…. I need to get back into it…. every time something breaks my streak of “hobby in the evening” (aka doing taxes, writing & paying bills) and I have to physically set aside the paintstation it takes me days to get it back on the table…
maybe tonight painting some boltgun metal to pink and violet parts….
February 26, 2020 at 8:35 am #1490533I so know that feeling … one moment I think I’m focussed and then … o look *squirrel*
Speaking of squirrels. Clash of Spears starts shipping for Europe this week. *squee*
February 26, 2020 at 8:37 am #1490534I know what you mean. Before Xmas I made a point of putting an hour aside at the end of the day; even if it was midnight, I’d give myself an hour for painting (assembling and cleaning was done outside of this, it was just an hour, straight up, for painting). I was more productive in that dedicated one hour I specifically put aside than any amount of time just “bimbling around”.
I look at my finished shelves and much of what is on there (albeit a tiny amount) was done during dedicated hobby time. I haven’t done it since Xmas. Total minis finished this year? Zero. (minis, not terrain).
I think it’s time to implement “hobby time in the evening” again….
