### Start of shameless copy & paste ###
Read all of this before you start as it will save any trouble later.
First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.
You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.
If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.
A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.
Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.
Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)
### End of shameless copy & paste ###
Questions of the week
- Did you ever do research on your ancestors?
- If yes what was the most interesting find? If no what would you want to know?
- Will the next unofficiall weekender be on time?
January 26, 2020 at 3:22 pm #1479070January 26, 2020 at 3:23 pm #14790711) Nope
2) N/A
3) Unlikely
This week I’ll be continuing to clear my pile of shame by painting up AoS endless spells and objectives. I’m also going to aim to play Tainted Grail twice, since last nights game ended in disaster and I need to try chapter two again.
January 26, 2020 at 5:35 pm #14790981.Not propper, only asing mum ( all older generation passed away)
2.My grand grandad died in first days of IIWW defending Poland from Grermans.
3. Maybe?
January 26, 2020 at 6:31 pm #1479146“A weekender is never late … it arrives when it is needed” 😉
1) Did you ever do research on your ancestors?
Nothing more than a quick google on my last name.2) If yes what was the most interesting find? If no what would you want to know?
That there’s streets with my name in at least 3 cities in the Netherlands, but I don’t know if any of them relate to my family.
There’s a chance family tree extends into Belgium or Germany (or maybe both as Belgium used to be part of the Netherlands …. )
It’d be interesting, but I’m not a fan of doing that sort of research myself TBH.3) Will the next unofficiall weekender be on time?
Define “on time” … any day in the weekend is ‘on time’, so I think it will happen.
Maybe someone else should volunteer if it hasn’t happened ‘on time’ according to their standards.
So whoever posts the first weekender thread on friday (or the weekend) is the one responsible for it being ‘on time’January 26, 2020 at 6:57 pm #14791851. Yes, many years ago looking into the Jacobite rebellions (I suppose it was more historical research rather than ancestry), also just recently due to a family tragedy.
2. Yes somebody in France sent me the plans of a ship that could have take Bonnie Prince Charlie to Scotland, only thing was, that it was all in French and I couldn’t understand it and didn’t have the internet back then. Also I was able to find the whole medical ancestry on my family.
3. It don’t matter to me cause of work – I’m late in viewing it.
January 26, 2020 at 7:22 pm #1479193More endless spells completed. Full project here: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1467945
Not many more to go now and then that will be another set of models crossed off my list.
January 26, 2020 at 7:27 pm #14791941. Nope. I once asked my gran what her mothers name was, but immediately forgot.
2. Nothing really; if I was particularly interested, I’d already have done the research!
3. Highly unlikely.
What’s going on this weekend? Well, my AnyCubic Photon 3d printer got a rest this morning – because I ran out of resin! Come on, postie, you should have been here yesterday…
Phew! That was close.
Only one mini incomplete. I don’t think I could have squeezed any more out of my resin!
Can’t wait to paint these guys up!
January 26, 2020 at 8:38 pm #1479228Hey Guys
Well i’ve had a hobby brain fart. Quick explaination. For those that have got to know me over the last three years of these weekenders will know that i am primarily a gamer and not a massive fan of the rest of the hobby. Yes everything I own is painted but to a very basic tabletop standard and don’t even talk to me about scratch building….
Well with my new found love of Marvel Crisis Protocol and the shortage of 3 x 3 urban/city style gaming mats I did something I would never normally dream of…. build my own board.
Progress so far.
January 26, 2020 at 8:42 pm #1479229oops forgot the questions.
1) Nope, not for myself but the wife did a few years ago.
2) That she is a very distant relative of the Kennedy family.
3) Mmmmmm
January 26, 2020 at 8:50 pm #1479230@blinky465 DOTT! Those look awesome. Who ever modelled them did a hell of a job!
@biggabum nice board, what did you use for the road? Sandpaper?
@danlee nice looking spells. Keep it up
January 26, 2020 at 8:59 pm #1479235@biggabum looking good
January 26, 2020 at 9:14 pm #1479236@sundancer no mate, I used a textured spray paint called Rust-oleum (Aged Iron). Just masked the board and hit it with a couple of blasts… then floated around the room for an hour because my ventilation wasn’t the best and then ate 4 packets of dog biscuits and drunk a litre of prune juice so couldnt do much at all to the board on friday…
@benduncan96 Thank you Sir.
January 26, 2020 at 9:22 pm #1479237@blinky465 Day of the Tentacle! Now that was a great game.
January 26, 2020 at 9:30 pm #1479249@sundancer – the guy who modelled them did indeed do a great job – https://www.thingiverse.com/pixelprotest/designs – but when I printed them at 28mm, the feet on Dr Fred and Hoagie were just too thin snapped easily. I had to do some splicing and resizing in Blender to make them suitable for printing (for anyone interested, I increased the size of the feet for Dr Fred and added extra cylinders for Bernard’s neck, Dr Freds spindly legs and Hoagie’s ankles and printed each model at 35% of the original – 40% for the chron-o-john).
