Did a read on @blinky465 post on Heresy Andy and grabbed a 10GBP voucher. Now coffee and waking up.

Also did a little painting last night. Just one layer of Dark Angels Green on a ‘Mech. Old paints take time.

I’m still entertaining the idea of a “big drive” up to Brummingham tomorrow just to have a few hours looking around (it’s about a four hour drive – in good traffic conditions – from the UK south coast). My wife isn’t quite so keen on 8-10 hours driving in a day, so I can look at tiny plastic fighting men for a couple of hours. But, it’s still not been 100% ruled out…..

I usually skip the convention content, but, before the plague (: the local conventions were tons of fun, although parking was always a pain. Anyway, if you don’t have questions for next time…

Thursday…. and the forum is flooded with spam bots. Over a span of multiple hours.

Rant warning!

I think we can call the forum “dead” now. It’s nothing but vultures and either the tech side of things is failing or someone from higher up doesn’t care any more. I can’t explain it to my self any more on how this is happening. Either there are no good spam protections in place or they are not very well maintained.

I think it’s sad to have to admit it to ourselves. But I think you might be right.
I stopped used the projects system a while back (I really, really wanted to use it in place of a person blog for all kinds of stuff) not just because it was so flaky (posts going missing, failed image uploads etc) but past posts regularly get blasted with spammy comments with links to all kinds of nonsense.

And it looks like our forums are slowly heading the same way too.
Such a shame.
I really don’t want to give up on the OTT community.  But I think it’s clear that since @warzan and @lloyd stopped contributing to the forum side of things, large sections of this website (and the forums in particular) have been grinding to a halt. I hope you guys are having a great time over on Discord. It’s just not for me, I’m afraid.

I think there are more people like you @blinky465 (just take a look at the WAYPN thread and the new years resolutions thread)

As for contributions from any OTT team member: I do get that all of them fill more then one pair of boots in some way or another but sadly that leads to people and things being left behind. *cough*[coming soon] in the footer*cough*

I wish I had a different solution but as far as I can tell from this side of the monitor: OTT needs an overhaul; one way or another. And that means money and manpower. Manpower meaning more money.

Come on lads, BoW turns 15 this year [1]. OTT just turned 5.  Don’t let this fade, wither and die. Either cut stuff (like the forum) or do it with full throttle.

Sad German is sad now.

And here I thought that maybe it was just the fact that UKGE had taken such a toll on the team that everyone was given the week off to recuperate!

 

I really hope that this is not the end of what has been built.

 

I’d miss this place………and my invisible internet friends a cross the pond and everywhere else that I have watched do hobby like myself.

The world is full of spam and scammers.

When my phone rings with an unknown number it’s usually a scammer… or someone selling windows (much the same thing in my book).

Emails are either spam, or surveys and both are unwanted.

Today someone tried to buy over a £1000 worth of stuff on my credit card, but the bank prevented it thankfully. Had to cancel my credit card of course.

Perhaps we need a secret forum. By invitation only. Limited to people that have been regular commenters on the website.

I’m not into discord either. If I want discord I have a conversation with a manager.

Although there was the goddess Discord in Xena…
