Well, I did buy the Chaos Dwarfs Bloodbowl last weekend on pre-order; I’ve lost my hobby room for another month, so not much sense in ordering much more right now. I have my eyes on some Legions Imperialis though when I have space back.

Last thing I bought from G’Wullu where the Blood Bowl Gnomes. And the Snotlings before that. Blood Bowl seems to be the only good creative outlet for them it feels XD

Yep, I own a lot of teams for BloodBowl as well as their pitches and stuff. Mostly themed on “small people”, for some reason. Maybe it’s just funnier to play those teams?

Age of Sigmar has failed to capture any interest from me, from day one, and the latest version hadn’t changed that.

I very much like the nostalgia factor in Old World, and Horus Heresy releases, though.

    GW day ?
Didn’t pay any attention to it, because when I tried looking at the WH Community page it gave me 500-errors.

I might be tempted by the new big box of stompy kniggets that is one of the new big boxes, but that’s mostly because I want to build those things and GW kits tend to be pretty good. There’s no way I’d be using them to play 40k.

And the Orks vs Halfling set looks nice, because it’s Orks and it reminded me that Orktober is on.
Anyone know what the supposed ‘solo’ rules are like that GW got for this iteration of Killteam ?

Speaking of Orktober …  Kromlech’s offering is soo tempting :

As for Golden Demon results ?
I think part of the problem is that GW’s own standard paint jobs tend to be pretty good and it’s all GW bits.

Maybe it’s me, but the overall painting style appears to be similar across a lot of models as well ?

I’ve seen what proper scale modelers can do with all sorts of models, busts and dioramas.
The variety of things and the stupendously high standard make that awesome.

I plan on going this year too. There’s practically nothing that is directly related to tabletop hobby, but it is a nice day to spend looking at pretty things. Marco Frissoni was there last year and he merely got a ‘bronze’ medal for his entries. If you’ve seen the things he does on his youtube channel then you’ll have an impression of the level of talent on display at that show.

I am currently ambivalent about what I saw, specifically about the Kill Team stuff.

Exciting as they are for KT itself in their own way I am struck by the fact that, once again, this is going to be the only way to access the contemporary iteration of another Astra Militarum unit that will come with the Kill Team tax. A lot of these have been re-boxed for the new edition and now come with tokens for play in that game but that has also been the cause to push the prices to nearly £50 for ten models. That’s going to make getting them for use in actual 40K (or your favourite model agnostic system that you want to play with the toys from the stories) even more bitter than before.
This with the Tempestus Aquillons already waiting on the wings…

And based on what we have seen with the Krieg Veteran Guardsmen/Kasrkin, these aren’t likely to get a pared down version available for more massed rank and file use any time soon.

For some reason, half of your post is obscured by a link to a video of a model show.

It is weird to see units in killteam that for some reason won’t be in its bigger brother.

I guess it’s because GW thinks it can make more profit by offering them in those killteam boxes.

otoh … I’ve given up on trying to make sense of GW game design decisions. They have models in their game that need to be in epic scale to function. And that’s before mentioning standard vehicles that barely work at the given scale as they act more like movable objectives and less like vehicles.

My Joyride kickstartere pledge got delivered.
It’s a huuge box, but sooo pretty. Manuals are nice, easy to read and short.

I think scale is a problem with all the cool toys in 28mm – Bolt Action tanks are nice to paint, but definitely are too large in quantity for a normal 4×6 table. The GW big kits are the same!

Speaking of kits, I found old pics of a Sherman I painted for Warlord. I think this was USMC themed, probably? IMG_8655IMG_8656

It’s not just scale … it’s how those fancy toys are handled by the rules.
I suspect a lot of the GW kits are sold as interesting hobby projects and less like practical units.

Warlord have acknowledged that a bit more focus on infantry is better for Bolt-Action. IT also helps that the footprint of the biggest vehicles is not too bad.

Meanwhile GW has got things that need precious real estate on a 6×4 table just to exist. That’s a whole new level of stupid.

Thanks rickabod! When Warlord didn’t have a painted model for this one online, it was the pics for the kit. Dates back to 2013 – felt a bit old finding it online. 🤣

I thoroughly used to enjoy my Orks Stompa on the table. I will take all the real estate I need for that toy! Not stupid – FUN! Stomp, smash! Stomp.

Ork vehicles should be big and stompy … ain’t nothing wrong with that.

I heard the Stompa was a real pain in the posterior to assemble.
I keep hoping GW will update those kits, but then I remember that GW dislikes having to do anything that isn’t space marine.

Even the 3d printing websites are doing Orktober related stuff.

And what does GW do ?
    *crickets* …

I made my Stompa even harder by getting the Forgeworld front and add-ons for it! Lots of hot water, gentle bending – yeah, it was a pain, but looked awesome in the end!

Ork vehicles feel like they should be build from scratch … but that’s probably way harder for mere mortals like us.

I just remembered that I’ve got a resin farm house to build from the 1:48 Tactics kickstarter.
That could make for an interesting project for terrain challenge and would work for my bolt-action army (plus it is bigger and better that Waaahlaaaads plastic farmhouse).

Heck … I’ve got a load of terrain that I could be building once I gather all of my stuff from storage.

Question for the hive mind : if you build a house or similar terrain feature … what would you use for it’s footprint ?

I’m not sure how big it is, but I think it would fit a 30-50cm square. So definitely a center piece and worthy of proper treatment.
