My biggest concern is ‘everyone gets more CP so that people don’t take ‘soup’ armies’. I love the game, but the CP system needs some serious reworking in my opinion, and not just add more. Other than that; my Ultras will be very pleased with the reinforcements. Now if only I would just finish these damn Aggressors… I feel like I’ve been painting these guys for almost a month. Has it been that long? 😛 Their time is nigh, though. In the meantime, have a good tune!

The CP system probably had to change, because too few people were using it.
However I am kind of afraid that we’re swinging in the opposite direction and stratagems will be spammed every turn … which isn’t good either (IMHO).

OTOH … I haven’t played a game in 8th edition or finished building an army so what do I know, right ? 😉

I think the Necron players must be pleased that their faction finally gets an update.
Whereas the Spacemarines get yet another set of new models …

    //

And speaking of armies that might not get finished … I managed to do a bit of hobby by assembling 5 of the Germans in the Rattenkrieg set. When completed I should have 6 Germans and 8 Soviets, because there’s one sprue of each in the box.

My biggest gripe right now is that I need a spot for another Lieutenant in my army and that is just going to be problematic to my organisation! 😛 I will have that Volkite/Shield chap, though. He will be mine!

HOPEFULLY, the Aggressors will be done before the day is done. I’m having an online hobby hangout with my brother, so they should get done over the course of that! I will post pictures of the finished chaps…then start work on this project post… 😛

Is it weird to say that the marines with shields are the coolest thing since the new primaris ?

I’d rather have them than the agressors, which more or less were an excuse for not updating the Terminators.

Honestly, I kind of agree. The Aggressors have grown on me, but as soon as the Ultramarine Bodyguards came out I wanted big units of sword and board Primaris. I declare your statement to be NOT weird and award you one internet point for your correctness!

    whoohoo … one internet point.

How many do I need to unlock the next level of internet awesomness ?

Anyyways … I wish the rest of the factions got the same kind of extras and updates that the spacemarines got.
Sure, Adeptus Mechanicus have been getting a lot of goodies lately. However they haven’t been a full army on their own either.
It really sucks that similar factions (like the Harlequins, Genestealer cults and the new Eldar mixed faction) are still stuck with much of the same ol’ designs they started with.

Never mind that the only factions getting their own themed subfactions have been Chaos and Spacemarines (which even got female spacemarines).

Yeah, the Xenos have been ignored quite a bit, of late.

Also, I wasn’t told of the unlock rules. That’s above my pay-grade, sorry. 😛

So I didn’t get to have my hobby hangout with my brother, but I did get some work done. The pictures are not great, but they are improvised so bear with it. Again, this is just a regular chap with his pack and arms ‘clipped’ on. Lloyd shot included.

This guy basically needs his eyes and decals done, but the Sergeant requires a bit more work and it is just too hot to be painting right now…

I work for a company that is considered an “essential business”  I worked even on Sunday.   Today is Memorial Day Holiday but I will be working as well, there are things that need to be done around the house and yard.  Will be able to relax at least in the afternoon as we enjoy a BBQ.  I put the ribs in the smoker at 6am so they should be ready for Lunch.

Between the PPE items my family has been making and some other volunteer work helping first responders and then normal work, my hobby time has been shot to hell.  Should be going back to normal in June as things start to ease.

Do you own an airbrush setup?

Yes, and I use it often.  I have a Patriot 105, Patriot Sotar 2020-2F and Harder & Steenbeck Infinity.  I use a dual tank Iwata compressor so I can have two brushes running at the same time.  The 105 is my workhorse for priming especially now that all my terrain is FDM 3D printed.  I use Badger 3D smoother and primer.  My Sotar 2020-2f is my detail airbrush.  The H&S Infinity I purchased used and has been used for painting 75mm figures I am making on my Resin printer. While the Sotar is fine for 28mm-35mm figures, its spray pattern is noticeable and not well defined enough for larger figures.  That said, the Badger airbrushes I would still recommend without a second thought.  As with any tool, they all take practice to learn.

Do you use it just for priming and terrain or also for detail work on miniatures?

Yes for priming.  I do not like rattle cans for priming as I believe you waste a lot of primer and often get a bad can that creates splotches.  I also like the zenithal effect and I cannot get the look I want with cans.  The only thing I will use a can for is lacquer top coat.  I like the control of a airbrush.  For miniatures details, it depends.   If I want a nice smooth transition on a piece or doing camo designs.  I just finished painting Project X from Mythic in ambush pattern.   I would not bother with 15mm miniatures.  Usually bigger miniatures I use an airbrush because I have issues blending larger areas with a brush.

Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?

I would be the devil I know can’t dance for sh!t!  All left foot that one.

1&2- Yes I own an airbrush set up. I have a Badger SOTAR and a Badger Krome Patriot. A Pasche and a generic one that got me started airbrushing. I use mine for base coating groups of minis a certain color, priming, and it’s also great for large minis. Lays down a really nice even coat. Especially on vehicles. Also for scenery. Not so much for detail work. That for me is done with a paint brush.

3-Have I ever danced with the devil in the pail moon light? Yes. And I’ll just keep quiet on that one so I can protect the guilty. ?

So much hobbying to do, so few hands.

I just had a great big bundle of deliveries through. 3 issues of Mortal Realms and a stack of goodies from Mantic Games including the Box Full of Evil expansion for the Hellboy Boardgame.

I did manage a solo game of Hellboy though based on Hellboy in Mexico. Clever little mission. Spoiler, all the agents died fighting the boss. Game over man!

I’m now looking at getting my GW spray stick which I hope I will be able to use with my bust wrist.

Why does that Panzermensch song make me think of this?

@sundancer – I did. I didn’t think I would, but I did. Maybe it’s because I’m on a bit of a cyberpunk binge at the minute – the Panzermensch song just got me right in the mood! Now, if I could just stay connected to the sodding interwebs for more than ten minutes at a time, I might actually get some work done on my own game….

Finally back with some finished minis. These guys were 99% done last night but my housemate works nights so I had to wait until he got up today before I could give them a very quick pass with the airbrush. My compressor is pretty quiet but the sound carries on the wooden floors. This is the fourth completed unit for my Admech. Behind where I want to be but I’ve now painted four units in a row for a single faction, that level of focus on one project was previously unheard of.

    Skitarii Rangers.

With all the new releases on the way for Engine War I’m getting really excited about the options I’ll have with this army. Now I just need Forgeworld and GW to get together and give me 40k rules for the 30k range.

Also really interested in the changes coming with 9th edition. If they spice up blast weapons to a point where it makes sense to bring them then my Devastator Squads might see the inclusion of Rocket Launchers again. I also have a Vindicator dealing with abandonment issues. Hell, after 25 years playing Space Marines, I might even buy a Whirlwind.

The cover rules being reworked is a big deal for me too, my table is a dense city so making the buildings matter again would be great.

    @crazyredcoat

Aggressors are coming along nicely, what way do you base them?
