Very late to join the thread. My pledge this week is to finish up some Burrows & Badgers minis from last years Kickstarter, as I needed a bit of a palate cleanser from Napoleonics, and there’s some very inspiring examples on the site at the moment from @robert and @144artist. Just got teh bases let to finish. Then back to Napoleonics, although I can’t decide whether to paint up some cavalry, more infantry or some officers.
Questions…
I’m massively ambivalent about computer games cons, so Gamescon is not really on my radar at all. I rarely play many computer games at the moment, but if I do, I generally go for something like an open world RPG, turn based strategy or grand strategy game. I can’t remember the last AAA title I played, it was probably Skyrim? My aging laptop is soon to be replaced, so I might be able to play slightly more recent games in the near future.
Some great work @m30wm1x on both the slyvaneth and the tank camo patterning.
Captain Tom’s looking good @crazyredcoat; did you get teh combined pack with the tank driver model too, and if so, is that soon to be a work in progress?
Nice blast from the (computer gaming) past with Earthworm Jim @blinky465.
September 1, 2020 at 5:43 pm #1563597Also … Paranoiia has arrived.
At least the books for the best version … so says Friend Computer.
And we know Friend Computer knows best.September 1, 2020 at 6:30 pm #1563602@sundancer I pop into the discord to have a look most days…but the time difference basically means that I am getting on when people are going to bed. 😛
@scribbs I did get the combo, but for now I’m saving the tank for later and getting on with some other things. My next plan is the Sister of Slaughter from the new Daughters of Khaine Shadespire team…but I am having some trouble with gaps… I was hoping priming would cover up the worse of it…but alas, no, and because they are push fit the gaps cut right across a bare leg a a section of her exposed back…can’t even hide them as torn clothes…
Music, maestro!
September 1, 2020 at 6:45 pm #1563604@crazyredcoat Out of interest, did you use any glue on the push fits at all? I played around with some chain rasps earlier in the year, and gapping was a much bigger problem on any model glued rather than relying on the push fit.
September 1, 2020 at 7:05 pm #1563608@scribbs I actually ran out of plastic glue… Most of them are now tricky to pull apart to add glue if I got more of it. I may try some green stuff later and then prime over it…or I may just leave it and try to improvise. I kind of wish they put a bit more thought into where the joins are, but then again, I don’t understand how the process works well enough to really comment on that.
September 2, 2020 at 7:31 pm #1563888First Disco Elysium … now this ‘Gamedec’
Are private investigators the new thing for rpg’s ?
I wish I had time to play these things …September 2, 2020 at 10:26 pm #1563911I’m thinking of setting up some one-off reference projects for a few subjects like uniforms for certain periods, or just uniform development over time and also some of the long discussed ‘scenery references’ (I got a few pictures of one of the local parks around here that is a good proxy for the Carolinian Forests in America and Canada. Are these sorts of things going to be of interest to people? I’m pretty good at uniform research and I may start with the Royal Marines. Any thoughts?
September 3, 2020 at 5:30 am #1563941September 3, 2020 at 7:13 am #1563953All right, I’ll give this a go:
My pledge is to continue with my Fyreslayers for Warcry and maybe finish the first half of the warband.. 3 are “done” by done I mean I think I’m done but I like to keep stuff on my paint desk for about a week and if I don’t decide to do any more with them I count them as “done”. Admittedly it’s kind of odd way to to things but *shrug*
(I will try to take some pictures of them tomorrow it’s like 11pm here in the West Coast of the States.
onto the questions…
1. I sort of half care(?),but not really I’ve never really been the type to have to have the latest and greatest game..I’m perfectly content to pick it up in say 9 months or something.
2. Never the only conventions I’ve been to “gaming related” are Adepticon and PAX West. Although I do go to 2 board game conventions here in my local area, but that’s a whole different topic
3. Wasteland 3 (I was a backer on fig or else I probably could have waited), Trails in the Sky SC, Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice, and to a much lesser degree… Assassin’s Creed III
As for music I’m in to a weird Eclectic sort of things so:
and I’m old so…
Been trying to get more into the forums..just been a rough few months
September 3, 2020 at 7:23 am #1563954Welcome @phoen31 🙂 Don’t preasure yourself, this is all hobby and recreation
I got some snotlings done. The pumpwagon is a royal PITA to assemble XD
September 3, 2020 at 9:57 am #1564015@limburger – I quite like that Circus of Clowns song. It’s kind of spooky. But fun. It made me think of the Hippos – it must be the oompa trumpets on the bass line.
September 3, 2020 at 10:05 pm #1564168@sundancer Well I suppose I can’t say no to an order like that! 😛 I’ll get started right away, sir!
@phoen31 Welcome to the madhouse!I know the feeling with the ‘are they REALLY done though?’ problem…I’ve had minis in that stage for years, YEARS I say! And don’t fret too much about timezones; I’m living among the colonials in the Far North myself, so I post and people get to things when they wake up. 😛
Expect the ‘scenery’ project to be up soon; the Royal Marines one may take a while to get set up…
UPDATE: I have the scenery project up. Went through several project names before I settled on this one…
September 4, 2020 at 12:40 am #1564201Just managed to get the larger bits of acrylicing done. Still need to get the tank commander and chipping done before a varnish, then decals, oils and such.
September 4, 2020 at 5:05 am #1564256@m30wm1x The panzers are looking good, mate! Are they 15mm or 28mm?
So I got a fair way into my Royal Marine reference project. It’s set to private, for now, until I can get it all finished in one go, but I am passed the Capture of Gibraltar, so about 50 years into their 350 year history… It’s a bit simpler from here on out, though, so within the next few days she should be ready to go.
Have some music!
