Got a start made on the camo pattern. Forgot how long it takes to just paint blobs, and it looks a bit stark so will probably need a bit of shading to lighten the tops of the green panels, then there’s some smaller brown bits to do. Also, will repaint the inside of the open hatch to be light green grey as the hull red is a bit off in my opinion.
Trying to go for a camo like this, but I only have this one side view for the pattern so some artistic license is being had.
And for the music.
Getting nearly done with 2020 now, what are anyone’s guesses as to what September will throw at us? And what happened to the killer bees story arc?
August 30, 2020 at 6:29 pm #1563047@blinky465 Nice work on the earthworm jim…. and I haven’t seen the XLBS yet…. need to mend that.
Plus…. blinky…. you don’t happen to know anything about a UPS parcel on it way do you? Inbound for tomorrow
August 30, 2020 at 6:43 pm #1563048@sundancer. Ummmm, maybe. It’s only tiddly, don’t panic.
August 30, 2020 at 8:14 pm #1563078August 30, 2020 at 10:21 pm #1563096so if we don’t hear from @sundancer we know who to blame 😉
August 30, 2020 at 11:10 pm #1563100@limburger – hmmmm. I really didn’t think this through. Is it too late to say “no idea what you’re talking about, mate”?
August 31, 2020 at 1:24 am #1563101I got Captain Tom finished so that’s a successful pledge. Might go back to a Witch Elf and then back to more Game of Thrans, maybe… Depends on where my mood takes me. Working on the project post now for Captain Tom.
@blinky465 Earthworm Jim is a bit of a blast from the past… He looks excellent!
@m30wm1x It is always annoying when you find a single angle for a camo reference, but I’d say you’ve extrapolated nicely. That’s not a euphemism… 😛
@sundancer Remember, if you hear it ticking, you have time to run! 😛
August 31, 2020 at 9:11 am #1563163@m30wm1x – do you usually add chips/weathering to your tanks? I’m still looking for inspiration on how to turn a nice, clean paintjob into a worn-out beaten-up piece of armour without it just looking like it’s been flecked with black and silver paint! (the cammo patches look great – though like pretty much all my minis, they also look factory new; how do you beat them up?)
@crazyredcoat – photos for Tom?
August 31, 2020 at 4:51 pm #1563287August 31, 2020 at 7:48 pm #1563296@blinky465 I have them on my project log, but I’ll post it up here, too.
@limburger He is actually an honorary Colonel, so he managed to skip Major all together!
I almost went full geologist and looked up the geology of Burma, but I decided that at this scale it’d be difficult to pull off anyway, unless Burma was somehow all basalt or granite…so I decided not to…
I’m also on a Sabaton binge, again…so music!
August 31, 2020 at 10:17 pm #1563330@crazyredcoat Thanks very much. I know that when I have a full force they’ll have a selection of camo’s, hopefully giving the idea that the German army at this time was just throwing whatever they had at defense. I’m going to try the more dazzle style on some Tigers next I think. Hopefully a bit like:
Very nice work on the Colonel.
@blinky465 Aye they’ll need some chipping next, then a varnish for decals, washes and bits.
To chip everything I just mix the base colour with some ivory and sponge that on. More ivory is quite stark so very good for edges, corners and hatches. Less ivory, closer to the base colour, can be used for lighter dings. Watered down slightly can be used to make nice scratches.
Then I go and fill the centres of some of the bigger scratches with an appropriate dark colour. If you want full grognard go find the right oxide primer used, easy mode is to just get a small brush and somthing like an ink or dark contrast paint, wildwood or the black one mixed with some sepia? and make little dots in a few chips.
Extra points if you want to put tiny dot or lines of a silver or gunmetal in the largest chips and scratches. Then play with some brown/orange rust streaks over top of the armour.
September 1, 2020 at 6:28 am #1563333Morning you discord avoiding ones 😉 Hope your Tuesday goes smooth. Of to coffee and work now.
September 1, 2020 at 10:05 am #1563432You know how some people text *all the time* and some of us still put quill to parchment?
I tried using Discord on my phone. Bloody autocorrect mangled so many words, I just have up with it, and now stick to the longhand form of writing, dropping in on the forum every now and again for a catchup.
I might pop by again one of these days. I just keep forgetting.
Enjoy your coffee.
And be on the look out for unexploded parcels.

Ha, there is your problem 😉 I’m using everything on PC with a proper keyboard. Only exception being instagram because it doesn’t have a good web UI.
Parcels are indeed arriving… some containing snotlings, some different things….
