tech manuals for fictional gear would be soo ff-ing cool to see.
Especially if they also were to do an annotated version by the engineers that actually had to use it …

My longest wait was for the release of the Kickstarter of Modiphius’s Corvus Belli’s INFINITY RPG hard copy books.

To this day they’re still being slowly released.

    But I’m glad I backed it. ??

@horati0nosebl0wer  I’m pretty sure somewhere someone has done a paper on Kickstarter and “how not to run a Kickstarter” of sorts *g* And if not, why not?

And I guess “field repairs” are a thing in every future timeline. And if it upgrades the system it gets tested and then implemented as new standard 😉

@limburger I’m pretty sure there have been manuals for Star Wars and Star Trek. And I’m not talking about the blue print posters. But a annotated version could have high comedy value XD Just thinking about Scotty leaving a remark like “total shite. needs more Thingymagics an’ less crap!”

@templar007  are we talking weeks, months or years?

Welcome to Monday. My spine is still in bed. Hope you all are well. Need more coffee

moanday … and my phone decided to die. Looks like something inside broke, but given how these things are impossible to repair (and the phone is 4 years old now) I guess I am forced to replace it.
Not exactly happy as that means spending money (that could be used for more toy soldiers …  )

It died after 4 years? that’s not much mileage you got from that. But if it’s already gone you might want to look at ifixt.com to see if they have a repair tutorial for it. Can’t make it worse now can you?

    16 – 2 – 2018 … so a little over 4 years. For a device that’s in daily use it’s not *that* bad.
Biggest issue is the lack of security updates (still on Android 9), which is not cool at all.

My previous phone failed because the battery had lost its will to live. I replaced that one because I ‘needed’/’wanted’ a new phone anyway.

iFixit do have info on how to open up the device with the help of a heat gun.
Problem is that replacing the battery also requires replacement of the NFC-antenna as you can’t remove it without damaging it.
As I need my phone operational I can’t afford to wait for repair that can’t be done same day.

They rate it 6/10 for repair.

Knowing what is wrong is one thing … but replacements are rare, because everyone phonerepair shop appears to be focussed on Samsung devices and Apple. Sony is rarely listed …

So … lots of things that remind me (a) always have a backup smart phone and (b) I iz too late now.

I will see if something is possible, but not getting my hopes up.

    — edit —
Either that repair shop doesn’t know squat or my current phone really is dead as a dodo.
Or maybe it’s just not profitable for them to even attempt a fix, which I suspect to be the actual reason.

So I got myself a new phone … (at least there’s extra holiday money this month so that should soften the pain a bit).
Heck … I either save that money for emergencies or spend it on new gadgets anyway.

(that’s my excuse and I’m sticking with it :P)

Got my heroes all painted and based. Just waiting for the glue to dry so I can take pictures and write up the project.

I’ll probably start cleaning and gluing the Fomorians this evening while watching the uHH.

Crowdfunding sounds like mob business to my ears, so I steer very clear from it.

Someone at work today asked me what kind of a smartphone I have. A black one I replied.

Unrelated music to chill out and relax:

Ah, Mr Mustaine at his best. I bought that album back in the day on a trip to London in a Virgin Mega Store. On cassette. Because I didn’t want to risk breaking the vinyl on the way home XD

Staying clear of crowdfunding is a sane decision.

Yep – back in the late 80s when me and my friends in school started listening to metal, I also fell on the Megadeth-side of the Metallica-Megadeth-divide. 😀
