    *nod nod* Yes, bunkers are good. I remember way back in the day the GW Bunker in Maryland here in the US where I picked up a team of Bloodbowl lizardmen in metal. Cost quite a bit for what I was accustomed to at the time since they were specialty. I painted them and my best friend still has them in his collection of minis.

    Thinking about bunker busting I found a wonderful model for use in gaming that I will get modded ever so slightly and printed. I look forward to posting fun stuff to my project soon. Fiverr is my new Giftmas gratification engine. I put money in and things I want come out. Its almost like a Japanese gashapon or one of the many vending machines in Bioshock (though without the cool side-effects).

    I’ve noticed that there’s a very definite theme forming running through our community like a silver thread, and one that’s only reinforced with @warzan and his COGs radio: a communal love of 80’s style rock.

    If this isn’t played on the next episode, something is very, very wrong:

    Evoking so many memories, for so many reasons! Space Hulk, rock guitar, a love story…. what more could you want?

    Bioshock…. there is a game that could use a miniatures range or even a boardgame/miniatures game

    I mean, new Orks must be coming soon, right? If we think in term of geological timescales they’re already here…and also thousands of years away… So maybe hope? 😛

    Hails all,

    Finally getting on here to post after a brutal start to 2021. Had to have one of my cats put to sleep on New Year’s Eve after a shockingly sudden illness left her barely able to breath and unable to move. Then to add further difficulty my housemate tested positive for Covid two days later putting us into 14 day isolation. I know I should be used to lockdowns by now but, being honest, this one has got under my skin. A bad bout of insomnia to top things off has left me genuinely fraying at the edges.

    I’m trying not to be too wasteful of my time off though. I’ve been working on my Reikland Reavers and getting more basecoats down. Slow progress but pretty happy so far,  I even managed to get the Ulthuan Grey looking clean after a mere six coats…

    I still have a half-finished Admech army glaring at me from my work table but I want to put a lot of effort into Blood Bowl this year. I have ten teams, multiple Star players and Big Guys to do, but I’m hoping to play a league with my RPG group next year so having them done by then is the target.

    Questions:

    1. The surprise 14 day isolation left us pretty short on supplies but we had a stream of offers from friends to go shopping for us and we now have enough food to last months. The online form I needed to fill out for Illness benefit was bugged but the paper forms were collected from the wellfare office and then dropped back for me. People have been awesome and my mother even posted a package stuffed to the brim with bars and sweets to help lift the mood.

    2. Tackling my Blood Bowl collection like I mentioned above but I also need to paint more regularly. I’m a reluctant painter but I love the buzz of finished minis and I want to get playing more games with the stuff stuck in boxes and on sprues.

    3. Not yet, I’ve been working my way through Brooklyn Nine Nine as I’d never watched a single episode before and right now it’s exactly the kind of easy watch fun my brain needs.

    @sundancer

    Nice to see the CoB tracks, Alexi was a real loss. Also, Bioshock did get a boardgame based on the third game. ‘Siege of Columbia’ by Plaid Hat Games.

    @horati0nosebl0wer

    What Korean horror films have you been watching? I went through a phase a few years back of watching heaps of Asian Film. ‘A Tale of Two Sisters’ was a favourite.

    @crazyredcoat

    Looking forward to seeing how Cypher turns out. I have the older version and loved the mini but I want to pick up the new one too. He’s one of my favourite characters in 40k lore although his role in The Gathering Storm at the end of 7th edition was a bit weird. The Collector’s Edition Dark Angels codex for 7th came with a secret compartment in the bottom of the box that had background, history and a series of missions you could play all focused on him.

    We’ll finish with some music. Really getting into a lot of Norse sounding stuff lately.

    @blinky465 I think that I have a love/hate relation with 80s rock. It was just starting to push into being serious with a harsher edges from the commercial norm. I think that the development of rock as it became less label dependent really allowed for the maturity of sound and expression of less pleasant emotions.

    @crazyredcoat Geologic time? Yeah about that, when you consider the calculation of Lovecraftian horror in such a manner then you can see the madness, literally, in assuming we mere mortals will ever see new ork minis.

    @irredeemable Damn, current events are not too keen for you out there. My condolences on your furball. I did the same a couple months ago. Its never easy. With the time you have now you’re doing well to use it productively. Good for you and seeing the opportunity to make playing figures. As far as K horror I sat and rewatched The Host (better thought of as scifi?)Train to Busan, #alive and the series Sweet Home. Definite familiarity from Japanese horror but distinct elements that are pure Korean. There is always one scene where there is intense crying.. even in comedies like The Interview (lol).

    Also, good selection of tunes. Surprisingly the pagan rock genre has some good acts out there with the Maori and Mongol language bands also kicking in some distinctive sounds.

    @sundancer With a new year you have all aorts of time to think up your batrep for The Clash of Christmas ; )

    Now, as usual, I shall turn the thread on its ear. I will keep a visual and sound reminiscent of the 80s for my entries

    Made some progress on my Reavers today. Still just putting down rough basecoats but they’re starting to take on some shape. Metal is next on the agenda and then skin, after that I’ll add in the red and then I can start some shading.

    @horati0nosebl0wer

    The Host and Train to Busan are awesome movies. I watched the latter on a mate’s recommendation without any idea what kind of movie it was and was blown away.

    @horati0nosebl0wer – I have a love/love relationship with 80s rock. Though I wasn’t much of fan of the more “mature” sound, nor expressing “less pleasant emotions”. I like big hair songs about partying and girls and how awesome it is to wear spandex and hairspray and stay out late a night 😉 or maybe a good old “power ballad”.

    Alice Cooper was about as “uncomfortable” as my rock music ever got – and, as much as I loved his “disturbing” psycho-drama 3-minute ditties, I’d always counter listening to one of his songs with a good long dose of Tigertailz or Poison!

    (then again, he put out some pretty sweet ballads himself)

    Speaking of which…..

    Another mixed couple of days. Slow progress has continued on my Reavers but I’m getting to the more interesting stuff soon so it’ll speed up then. Gold and metal basecoats are done and I’ll start on skin tonight.

    2021 has continued to kick me while I’m down though. My laptop died a death and refuses to come back on so I had to switch to my tablet for my Weekender/XLBS catch-up. The laptop will need repairing or replacing when I get out of isolation as it’s a huge pat of my RPG set-up.

    Also getting some reading in to pass the time. I’ve been working my way through the Warhammer Horror books from the Black Library and I’m just about to finish the last anthology book Anathemas. The books have been a good gateway into the Mortal Realms for me. I’ve never played AoS (although I have a heap of Underworlds in the to-do pile) so I haven’t had an opportunity to explore the lore.

    Music today has been of the live variety.
