    ### Start of shameless copy & paste ###

Read all of this before you start as it will save any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

    ### End of shameless copy & paste ###

    Questions of the week:

    • What has been your most positive moment in 2021 so far?
    • What is the biggest, hobby related thing/bullet point on your 2021 wish list?
    • Have you seen “History of Swear Words” on Netlix yet?

    Let the weekend begin!

Pledge: I will not start any new projects until I have finished two that are currently waiting to get done. 2021 needs to see results, not just ideas.

    Answers:

    • My copy of “The Book Of Mel” (aka the Terrain book by TheTerrainTutor) has arrived!
    • Having the possibility to play against different people again. In real space. Not online or in my head.
    • Yes! Loved every minute. It’s somehow very relaxing.

    And some music:

is it 1 week already ? Time flow is strange during lockdown holiday.

    1) What has been your most positive moment in 2021 so far?

getting my OTT order. I think I had Mels’ book before 2021, but given how weird time is I’m not sure.

    2) What is the biggest, hobby related thing/bullet point on your 2021 wish list?

Finishing one army … and by finish I mean enough built and painted to tabletop standard so I could play a game.
No army is ever finished, because there’s always more to add.

    3) Have you seen “History of Swear Words” on Netlix yet?
Nope. And given that it is on Netflix I won’t see it either.
Seeing the trailer with Nicolas Cage doesn’t inspire much confidence.
I think Stephen Fry would have been better … there’s something boring about Americans trying to explain the English language. I guess to them even a single swear word is ‘art’ … (look ma … he said the F-word).

    I mean … seriously …

@limburger Cage only hosts. They have multiple people chime in on the subjects. Professional Eggheads from universities as well as comedians, actors and the likes. You have English, Australian, American, South African and I think one or two other native speakers in there…  Stephen Fry would be great for such a show but it would be totally different then.

My work schedule has been absolutely screwed up as my company has lost clientele, lost staff and gained clie tele all within the span of a week. The company has been recovering with me pitching in where I can and getting minimal sleep. On a day off and hearing that more people are about to be hired I’m happy as hell to get back to you wonderful people out here. Now then… as a violation of the rules I will make a dick reference to Giftmas and share the laugh from last year (technically as it still seems not so long ago).

I can say that 2021 has been able to give me the net positive of starting to put together an actual gaming faction (project info forthcoming). My best hobby moment has got to be finding the right models to work with that will come together as a visually stunning display on and off the game board. Now its a matter of eoing the real work of putting them together and painting. The biggest bullet point, literally, will be fielding a model with a base area of around 90x120mm. That might not be completely accurate though as I’ve purchased a collection of 3D models that I can print and use as a second army. I also have a thought of how to make a third which I’ve been working on in my head. This third faction I’d need to put money into hiring a concept designer and then a 3D sculptor for the centerpiece. Its all hush hush at the moment but when I unveil I hope to wow you lot.

The History of Swear Words has not been on my radar as I’ve been binging on Korean horror films and watching The Strain on Hulu.

My pledge is to show off my new efforts in the project system.

    • What has been your most positive moment in 2021 so far? Getting the bikes out and cycling a lot more. We used to cycle a lot when we lived in Hove – regularly into Brighton and the environs. Since moving just up the road getting in and out of “town” was just easier on the bus. No longer. Just set out earlier, allow more time to get there, and wrap up warm! I might even shift a couple of these extra mince-pies I’m carrying from Xmas 😉
    • What is the biggest, hobby related thing/bullet point on your 2021 wish list? To get my cyberpunk game finished. It feels like it’s close; I’m working with someone else now and we’re pushing each other along with development – it actually feels acheiveable now!
    • Have you seen “History of Swear Words” on Netlix yet? – we don’t have Netflix (but I did buy a month’s pass for Sky Sports at New Year, so my mum could share my password and watch Sky Darts in place of having us all over – she used to be a top-level player back in the 80s)

Billy Connolly used to do some great routines about swearing. He was the master of the word “f@*k”. It never sounds more beautiful than being spat out of the mouth of an angry Scotsman.

ooooh – pledge? Of course – paint more minis!

@sundancer I dislike the format when there’s a bunch of nitwits and expert talking heads.

I MIGHT try and get Cypher done before School starts up again on Monday. No promises, though. 😛 We’ll call it a potential pledge.

What has been your most positive moment in 2021 so far?

94% in one of my classes last semester? Honestly, I have hardly noticed that we are in a new year yet…

What is the biggest, hobby related thing/bullet point on your 2021 wish list?

Greyjoys for the Song of Ice and Fire Minis. They look fun.

Have you seen “History of Swear Words” on Netlix yet?

Hardly watch Netflix these days, but I remember that Stephen Fry did do a programme on language in comedy a few years back that included some swearing, I think.

See … I knew I was remembering something yes.

    Stephen Fry did ‘Planet Word’.

And of course it had to include Brian Blessed :

Got started on Cypher and put up a project post about the armour. He doesn’t look like much right now, but I’m pleased with how he turned out. The red lining of the robes is going to suck, though… Maybe more update tomorrow…if I have time.

Well damn.. I posted to last week’s thread… I am really out of it.

In other news I just hired a designer on Fiverr for part of the work to make custom Saga banners. Next will be a second designer to add flourishes. After that I hope to get a small custom run from Little Big Men Studio. If that doesn’t happen I’m not put out as I’ve read the message he has about being a very small operation.

Beyond all that I’m looking to make more mischief with seeing a few monsters/creatures/terrain that I can paint for my developing force.

It’s Sunday… huzza! Now to get breakfast and watch the xlbs… I’m predicting it to be a “@warzan shows of his gaming dungeon” and nothing much else 😉

    Welcome to 2021 @horati0nosebl0wer

@sundancer What is it with Germans and a fascination with dungeons? No judgement as its all fine well and dandy by me, just a passing observation and curiosity
