@blinky465 Focus on DOTT! FOCUS!
July 2, 2020 at 11:18 am #1545926It’s sooooo hard to focus! DOTT was only supposed to be a distraction from the app-based project I’ve been working on for ages (which my brother-in-law and I have been debugging for a couple of weeks now). We’re pretty much ready for anyone else with similar hardware to join in the game now 😉
Cyber Forge would be perfect for my cyberpunk themed game. It’s hard not get excited.
But I take your point. Screw laser-cutting buildings and coding. I’m going to get DOTT finished!!

My spider senses are tingling… XD
July 2, 2020 at 6:51 pm #1546127No parcel of goodies for me yet… This makes me sad… It still might come later today, but we’ll have to see…
July 2, 2020 at 7:51 pm #1546139@crazyredcoat Waiting for anything good, or are we in for a surprise in next weeks thread? My Germans are in a similar position, they unfortunately are waiting for the treasury to release funds for their reenforcements.
@blinky465 Don’t worry about a bit of a delay, looking forward to seeing how the DOTT room progresses next week. As much as it would annoy Yoda, I put ‘try’ into pledges for precisely that reason.
July 2, 2020 at 8:05 pm #1546150@m30wm1x It’s the starter set for A Song of Ice and Fire. I really want my new toys… Doesn’t help that it’s so hot here and the AC is down for a day or so… 😛
July 2, 2020 at 8:15 pm #1546151Finally did some hobby during Cult-radio 🙂
Bulbo the Eyeball (an add-on from the Dungeons&Lasers Kickstarter) …
And a special Gerry shot :
The thing was easy to build, but a beast to cut from the sprue because it was attached to the sprue with mega fat bits of plastic.
The instructions did miss the extra toe (# 10 on the sprue), but given that it was the last bit in a simple build it was easy to see where the thing was needed.Except for the ‘tentacles/legs’ the parts didn’t need glue to hold it together. I probably should have trimmed a bit of the excess material to ensure a better fit for the top half though. OTOH … it may be a good excuse to use green stuff to hide the crimes 😉
In hindsight it may also have been better to attach that top jaw bit after priming/painting, because the inside eyeball will be tricky to paint as it is now.Sidenote : I wish assembly instructions also included tips for this sort of thing.
I know scale model kits sometimes tell you to paint stuff during assembly. However at this stage I’m glad there are good instructions for assembly (something which a company like FFG really needs to learn …)July 2, 2020 at 9:20 pm #1546164July 2, 2020 at 9:45 pm #1546165@sundancer What are the two minis in the rank behind the marines? A savage bunny and a rat cuddling a goblet?
July 2, 2020 at 9:47 pm #1546166Just to take a break from painting Celts, I finished this is evening. Most of the base colours were already on it. The eyes need fixed but really need to have a look in natural light tomorrow to decide if it is done or not. It was a lovely model to paint.
July 2, 2020 at 10:46 pm #1546174@robert I’m just going to believe that she is a Celtic rabbit. Fantastic work, though!
@sundancer Love the purple, mate. Nice colour for a Marine!
@limburger That thing is terrifying…I love it!
So my toys didn’t come today. This makes me sad. On the plus side, make my pledge next week rather simple; wait for my toys! (Does that count as a pledge?)
July 3, 2020 at 12:31 am #1546176**Popping head over the railing to his resplendantly superfluous landship while cruising the waves of rolling countryside** I got back to painting the current project and putting on the jewel details again. I had to retouch the tiara and I think it might’ve gotten better. I’ll post a photo of the finished bit later and try not to spend any time/money on other project ideas. Though I think that I will keep an idea going in the background for a real model to perhaps upgrade my avatar figure to (or revisit with another copy).
My inspiration
@robert What is that foot on rock nonsense? Nearly airborne Celts have nothing to do with flying nuns. Good work on the skintone. I’m finding that the less pronounced transitions are a little awkward for me but I’m getting on with very thin layers. I don’t know if your forces need such thorough detailing.
@crazyredcoat I do indeed feel antsy when new toys are on the way. Its also a reason I kick out the packages I do. Giftmas is an all year event now that Coronachan has us all by the short hairs.
@m30wm1x I rather like the hedge on the far right as it might well go read as dense bocage.
@blinky465 Really, man? Dropping that news when I have so many other things to paint *shakes fist in agitation* Yes, you too need to focus.
@sundancer I really don’t know what’s going on with those German sensibilities and tingling for hardware. Is this one of those Japanese games involving tentacles? This all makes sense for purple space marines.
@limburger Good to see you too come back. That’s a great departure from the regular fare of minis here but might be a good for anyone’s Reichbusters set as a homebrew addition.
July 3, 2020 at 1:20 am #1546187I tried. I really did try to focus. I printed me a cron-o-john and a Doctor Fred and everything. But, because I’m paranoid about getting every little bit of “value” from a print run (those LCD screens only last between 200-400 hours and each print takes around four hours, whether you print one mini at a time or cram 8-10 on the build plate) I added some super heroes I found on Thingiverse just to fill the plate.
It was all going so well, until I thought “I’ll just splash some contrast green on the Hulk and see how he looks” and before I know it three hours have passed and I’ve painted another mini (though secretly, I’m rather pleased with how the eyes and teeth came out – they had the potential to end up *very* wrong!)
One of these days, I’ll get over my fear of basing, just as I did with eyes. Until then, boring black disks it is.
Tomorrow, I finish the diorama. Promise.
July 3, 2020 at 5:44 am #1546196When I saw the thread title I half expected pictures of the woman’s Butt! Lol
Current temprature I’d hovering around12-14c.
As for flavours Chocolate(let’s face it it’s a narcotic.)
Feeling? Half asleep, currently 04.43 Utc. Or 05.43 BST(daylight saving time)July 3, 2020 at 6:02 am #1546197@scribbs those two are from a Greebo Games Kickstarter. Easter Egg Hunt. The “Easter Rat” and the “Revenge” stretch goal.
@horati0nosebl0wer I could tell you… but then I’d have to shoot you 😉
@blinky465 for the DOTT the minis could either go a) without bases… or b) the bases could be recessed into the diorama and get a matching floor texture 😉
@vladvondrak hot butts are reserved for the mutunus tutunus threads and channels 😉
