### Start of shameless copy & paste ###
Read all of this before you start as it will save any trouble later.
First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.
You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.
If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.
A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.
Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.
Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)
And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv
### End of shameless copy & paste ###
Questions of the week:
- What was the highest outdoor temperature in your neck of the woods the past week?
- How did you feel?
- Chocolate, Vanilla, Rocky Road or something else. What is your favourite single flavour ice cream?
Stay hydrated!
June 26, 2020 at 5:30 am #1543671Let’s see.
- I think it was something around the 31°C mark.
- It’s OK. Keeps the coffee warm.
- I think plain vanilla with the option of caramel sauce.
Now let’s get a coffee for sanity and a glass water for hydration. Good morning you doorknobs! 8)
June 26, 2020 at 6:15 am #1543672So this is a turn up for the books, but it appears I’ve managed to get here first. What ungodly hour to you arise over there in Deutschland? I still haven’t gone to bed… You have questions. Questions that need answering!
1. Pretty close to the 30 degree mark, but it’ll get warmer next week easily.
2. With my hands, usually.
3. Chocolate. Always chocolate.
Let’s add a pledge, too, for good measure! I finished my hussar last week, and this week I am starting a Crimean War Highlander!
Background research post is already up on the project!
June 26, 2020 at 8:03 am #15436791. It got to 28 degrees (C) yesterday afternoon, with thunderstorms in the morning and overnight.
2. The temperature wasn’t too bad, but there was no breeze and it was pretty humid, so it was like being smothered by washing fresh from the tumble drier.
3. Hmm… possibly coconut (associated memories of spending time in south east Asia), but that tends to be relatively uncommon to find. Chocolate is the usual default I guess.
I’m probably going to take a short break from my Napoleonic British to paint something bigger that doesn’t require so much attention to detail. Probably some half started Stormcast.
(Despite writing that, I’ll inevitably get another batch of Napoleonics on the go).
June 26, 2020 at 8:39 am #1543683Pledge – Celts and some 10mm Treemen if I get bored with naked men.
1. I think it got to 24 yesterday. Had thunder storms last night at 2am… woke and scared the bejeezus out of me.
2. Frighten and disoriented. I hate heat, anything over 20 and I die!
3. Mint Choc Chip
June 26, 2020 at 9:07 am #1543688OK, I’ll bite 😉
- They reckon about 30 degrees, and I melt at about 21 degrees, so three showers a day and still wretched.
- Mostly OK, with a side order of anxious.
- Liver & Onions or Marmite. I have a savoury tooth.
June 26, 2020 at 9:32 am #1543690Liver & Onions or Marmite. I have a savoury tooth.
That’s an ice cream? oO You’re pulling my leg, right?
June 26, 2020 at 10:14 am #1543698Not if you go to Food Festivals like I do. There are always producers pushing the boundaries.
I’ve tried the two above, and also tomato sundae, steak, sprout, and cabbage flavoured ice creams. My favourite was the Marmite, closely followed by the sprout.
Another favourite is Chocolate + Cheese + Onion crisps. Awesome umame combo.
June 26, 2020 at 12:12 pm #1543726Happy Weekend, or thereabouts, everone. Hope that you’re all surviving whatever stage of melting you are at.
- Low 30s, I don’t think this can be ‘abnormal weather’ anymore as it happens every year now.
- Not too bad, thanks. How are you managing? I’m more sorry for my dog and computers in this heat, I’ve got external water cooling.
- I’m going to sound all bloody posh now, but I had a pistachio one once that properly took the top spot. I think it’s the only time I’ve had a gelato so it could be that. Can’t ignore a good clotted cream ice cream with a flake in it though.
Pledge: Sorry last weeks got away from me but I might have buggered them up so fix and finish some bases and paint a couple of PAKs.
June 26, 2020 at 12:49 pm #1543730What was the highest outdoor temperature in your neck of the woods the past week?
I think we got up to 34 on the beach near Brighton. There are no woods.
How did you feel?
I used my fingertips mostly, like I usually do.
What is your favourite single flavour ice cream?
Raspberry ripple of course.Pledge: get my DOTT diorama finished (and, of course, iron out the bugs in my play-over-the-net app – it acutally plays rather well when it’s not crapping out and requiring a restart!)
Music:
See what I did there? 😉
June 26, 2020 at 2:29 pm #1543756Primer the 10mm Treemen in some IDF Israeli Sand Grey. Think these are amazing sculpts
June 26, 2020 at 4:05 pm #15437891) It got up to 82 in my neck of the woods, which I can deal with, but the humidity was so high it felt like walking in soup.
2) Kinda discouraged; I’ve got three new artillery teams I’d like to prime, and spray painting in weather like that is terrible.
3) Chocolate Moose Tracks!!!
-I’m also working on batch-painting a unit of Trencher Long Gunners for Cygnar, and I’m trying to put together a Greywater Fastness army for AoS with a post-apocalyptic steampunk flavor.
June 26, 2020 at 5:32 pm #1543808Tigertailz are a blast from the past. Still think I have Noise Level Critical on 7” somewhere
June 26, 2020 at 6:23 pm #1543819@kronosthetraveler I hope that was fahrenheit…because that would be unbearable otherwise! 😛
Good to know the rest of you aren’t big fans of the heat, though Canadian summers definitely make me miss the weather back home… I definitely prefer the cold; -25 degrees is perfectly adequate for me.
June 26, 2020 at 6:31 pm #1543822My pledge for this week is to assemble some nymph models I got from a kickstarter some months ago. Then I can paint them as and when I feel like it in between other projects.
Last night I finished two more Onager Dunecrawlers for my AdMech force. Full project here: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1427037/#snav
