    ### Start of shameless copy and paste ###

First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/

Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

    ### End of shameless copy and paste ###

    Question of the week:

    • Terrain Terror Fest – done yet?

    Bonus question:

    • Are you ok? Christmas is a time where some people can feel extra down, drab and lonely. So if this is you feel free to reach out to the community. You are being loved and valued.

And now back to the show.

Pledge: maybe do a wee bit of hobby? IDK. If I find some time.

    Answers: uhm… I must leave!

Bonus answer: I’m fine but I am in a very privileged position in my mind. So you feel free to contact me if you need any help.

Some music before I go and see the new LotR movie

Not bothered with terrain fest as too much other stuff going on.

Work has been an absolute pile of crap. Xmas is when royal mail gets really busy with parcels and cards and they usually hire extra staff, but this year they didn’t… so it’s been a nightmare…

Managers insist we prioritise tracked items over all things… so letters are getting delayed and every day some of the bags have two days mail which makes them very heavy. We are not appreciated my the managers in any significant way… a few chocolates and couple of oatcakes is not much compensation.

And I don’t feel appreciated by my customers. I know that tipping the postman is far down the priority list, much like tipping the window cleaner, or the bin man… but we (and they) work hard all year round in all sorts of weather. This year the sum total of my tips is one box of chocolate biscuits.

Obviously… none of you are on my delivery… but I would ask that if you see your postman… give him a couple of quid…

If every house (not person) on my duty gave me £1 then I would have around £900 and a single pound is nothing today.

So in answer to your ‘bonus question’ @sundancer… no I don’t feel loved or valued.

Sorry for the downer, but it’s been a bad month.

Don’t apologise. If you don’t feel valued neither by your managers or customers than that is something to be in a bad mood about.

Seems like snail mail is getting worse everywhere. Here in Germany the Post also has decided to a) only deliver letters on certain days (unless it’s something like registered mail, stuff from city or tax office) Also we had a single postman that brought the post every day. For some years now that has been changed. I couldn’t tell if that postman was at our home before? It’s really odd.

In the week leading to Christmas we try to get hold of the mail man and every delivery service drive that gets to us with a little thank you note but this year they bare stay long enough in the door to even tell them to wait a second. I can’t image the stress you people are currently having.

So thank you for your work and I hope that it’ll get better in the long run.

I’d rather ask the post office to give the poor schmucks who have to deliver the packages and mail a decent raise and better working hours …

We see prices go up all the time, but few if any of us doing the actual work get to see any of the rewards for doing our job.

    Terrain fest ?
I just didn’t have the inspiration or time to do anything. Maybe next year ?
or maybe I just do a project when I get settled in my new home. I got about 60% of my stuff moved now with the help of professionals. I know I should have planned this better, but I kept thinking I could work on my home and move a few things every week as well. That didn’t go to plan, because the things I wanted to do were more work than I anticipated.

Also when contacting the movers they didn’t exactly ask for more info. I thought that meant that their estimate would be correct. In reality they quoted 4,5 hours and needed 6,5. At least the guys doing the job were willing to be lenient and do what they could within the constraints. They’re returning Friday after Christmas to help move the rest. With a bit of luck I should be ready for the new year.  Yet more proof that when ‘Sales’ gets an order the folk doing the work find themselves dealing with situations that could have been prepared better.

    Am I ok ?
Yeah I think I am. We had a Christmas themed night at work that I avoided, because the idea of having to listen to Christmas music all evening didn’t fill me with joy. In hindsight I’m glad I did, because the music was loud as well …

I find all this forced happiness not fun at all.

@grantinvanman mayby you should tell your insurance company the three D-words(*) … I’m sure they’ll find a way to be good to you 😉

    *) Deny / Defend / Depose …
(or maybe don’t … I heard a lady got arrested for daring to say those words after her claim got denied. The fckers are that scared.)

2024 is almost over! Hard to believe.

Pledge: continue with my Battletech. Slow but fun to be painting again.

Am I OK? Yeah! I actually am. I have been sober for almost a month now, first time in too long. It feels liberating.

Surprisingly sold my 40k Orks army today, to a dude who drove 3 hours to pick it up, and for what I was asking – no haggling. Pretty happy, and he was, too!

Also, the Canada Post strike is on pause, so stuff is kinda moving again. @limburger I agree, the post should be paid more. Also, St. Luigi is a thing! But not so much in Canada. We have very good healthcare compared to the US when costs and coverage are taken into account.
