Old and taxing? Sounds like a reason to be hobbying. Get thee to the geekery!
February 7, 2024 at 5:47 am #1861908February 7, 2024 at 8:36 am #1861915Actually I did a lot of hobby… it’s my week off… but I didn’t get around to posting until last that night and that was on my project page. I’ll be doing more hobby today as I have a 7TV game tomorrow night and need to finish my minis and terrain for it.
February 7, 2024 at 4:50 pm #1862061Yikes … my project got featured on the UHH. I iz almost famous now 😀
Now I have to do things to make it better …like finding a way to hide the cables for the lights and not use tiewraps.I was planning to document the build, but as it was part inspiration and part guess work I need to remember what I was thinking.
It’s not helping that next weekend is a pretty busy weekend for me, but I shall blame the project system being sloow as things that are slow too.
Weird Al is always good … so more is better ?
A few more days and then it’s on :
(sorry … not sorry 😉 )
February 8, 2024 at 7:33 am #1862111Cursed temperatures! We’re back into the negatives and it’s really cold outside.
At least my coffee is hot. Off into the Thursday. No Battletech today so I might pop over to @warbossd Stream and/or paint minis.
Insanity!
February 8, 2024 at 10:40 am #1862152It’s Thursday already? Jeez where did the time go?
Blood on minis? Nah. In the 80s I used to use the toothbrush effect to splatter my Blood Bowl minis with gore but as my painting got better, I found I preferred to keep them clean and now ‘Eavy Metal cartoon-y style (not to that quality obvs, but in the same style).
As Blood Bowl has started to take itself quite seriously in recent years and get more “realistic” and grimy I found I went the other way. My BB setup looks like an episode of Scooby Doo! No room for blood there ?
February 8, 2024 at 11:22 am #1862158Jeez where did the time go?
That way *points*
did Blood Bowl take itself seriously? I think it’s more G’Wullu wanting it to be that. Most non-James-Gorkshop teams out there in the land of crowdfunding still are mostly very very silly.
February 8, 2024 at 5:39 pm #1862184@sundancer – yeah, that’s what I meant, really. When GW picked up the game again (after about 20 years of it being almost exclusively community supported) they tried to impose a more “realistic” type feel to it.
Which, stylistically I don’t mind.
But ultimately, it’s supposed to be a silly game, populated by silly characters, doing silly things (like bringing a dwarf deathroller onto the pitch was never supposed to be to help you win the game – the achievement was the silliness of it even existing in the first place and the chaos it creates should you even get it onto the table). I like the silliness. I like it when people play the game according to the “fluff”.But GW tried to make it a “proper” game with balance and everything.
And it sucked all the fun out of the game (because, as a game, it’s pretty turgid – I’d much rather play Blitz Bowl these days; and with the special play cards, that too encourages you to play more according to the fluff and silliness, than simply form a cage and walk down the pitch each time!)I think I’d prefer it if, instead of blood and gore, my Blood Bowl minis had little clouds with “oof” written on them, or birds flying around players’ heads. Let’s embrace cartoon-style!
February 8, 2024 at 6:09 pm #1862186I think GW forgot about sillyness after they published ‘Ere We Go …and Orks stopped being crazy lunatics they used to be in the armylists for 40k.
It had to happen to Blood Bowl too as a result, althoug didn’t they do the vampire BB team with the weird ghost ?
It’s as if somehow someone at GW occassionally remembers how their games used to have silly lore.
February 9, 2024 at 8:16 am #1862237Let’s embrace cartoon-style!
No argument here! All for that.
And just like that it’s Friday. Flock!
During yesterdays YBTT chat and show I actually put some paint on my SW:L swoop bike riders. I wouldn’t call it “paint” because it didn’t feel like it. Mojo is pretty much going the way of the dodo. Meh. Hope you lot fare better
February 9, 2024 at 9:57 am #1862238To friday most is the weekend, but to me the weekend normally starts around 3pm saturday.
This week it’s an unpleasant reminder that I’m back to work on Monday after my week off.
Better finish my project today and tomorrow… or as much as I can accomplish in that time.
February 9, 2024 at 9:59 am #1862240February 9, 2024 at 12:43 pm #1862293Bloodbowl, a wonderfully silly game that was great for a laugh in its over the fluff. I picked up the Bloodbowl Omnibus last year and need to read through it all. I keep getting hit with life’s nagging necessities. Which reminds me that I have some boxes of figures I should paint. Yeah, things I’d like to do, and now with time, really should.
Before the end of the week I reflect on the past and also add some of the glorious word wizardy that brought us epic pun battles of history (atleast where music was concerned in the long long ago) with our dear Pundancer. I
I’ve been badgering away at a few things in the background. Would it be better to say I’ve been monkeying around? I guess if we were talking about animals my minis would be lion about. You could say that the prospect of more painting could just be dogging you (not that UK slang). Wouldn’t you rather seal your minis to then be raven about your painted projects and be done with them? Can you bear these puns any longer?
February 9, 2024 at 1:51 pm #1862317Sorry, wasn’t listening. What did you say? XD
Puns are good but they are like farts. When forced there is the possibility of it being shit XD
February 9, 2024 at 3:52 pm #1862377If they are shit then I’ll just need to scoot around like a chihuahua afterwards. Perhaps we can get insight from crispin/lludan in his knowledge beyond taco holders and have it illustrated by caesar.
Belay the bidet! Embrace the roughage aginst your rump. Live long, poop free.
