You lot are all way to productive. Sorry for lack of interaction the last few days. Sunday felt sick, Monday was “big internet outage” at a customers ISP and action had to be taken. Today (Tuesday) is filled to the brim with work.
Must be spring or something.
April 23, 2024 at 7:07 pm #1874708Moar pics … or rather just the one showing the base in real life.
I thought I had a few more, but I guess I’ve posted them in discord instead.
I am trying to keep a log of all things, because I like knowing what I did too 😀
The joys of having a whole house to myself cannot be understated. I’ve decided to use the smallest room available as my designated bedroom, because as Capaldi said: a whole room … for sleeping? that’s bollocks (ok he never said that last bit but I bet he thought it 😉 )
This used to be a bedroom, but it’s going to be my computer/game room :
The other room has a built-in storage, so that’s going to be the hobby room where this thing is going to live. However as the walls need painting I’ve moved the construction. I should check the floor plans, but I think the other room is bigger too.
I’m currently trying to figure out how to assemble the frame that is going to keep the table top fixed in place.
I do wonder if the table top should be covered or covered with some kind of felt.
Maybe fake grass mat is an option? I saw them in the local DIY store.
(they had samples … which could be a cheap terrain option … worth exploring at a later date)April 24, 2024 at 2:15 am #1874742Awesome workspace. A great idea to use the smallest space for a bedroom. If all you’re doing is racking out it’s a great waste to try and make it a place you’re presenting to the world.
April 24, 2024 at 9:19 pm #1874913Managed to finish some things this week. Cursed city has a new house. I really like this warbases timber frame house i picked from salute it was a joy to paint and really easy to put togther as well
We even finished 2 HQ and 4 support stands for flames of war.
April 25, 2024 at 6:22 am #1874935Thursday already? *sigh* Time flies.
Did I miss anything? Feel like I’m totally disconnected from the Hobby Space apart from what interest I have directly (aka Legion and Battletech)
Time for coffee.
April 27, 2024 at 8:39 am #1875167So I sat down , had a marathon session of Fallout (making sure to break for human necessities) and got a spot of thinking.
With this kind of gaming all the rage for the moment do you think that there will be any sort of return of deiselpunk pulp the likes of Crimson Skies or are those days relegated to the nostalgia of the past?
Even with games like RetroRaygun does pulp have any place outside of 7TV and other novelties that have a faint glimmer by comparison to the latest shinies in Ultra5K HD blazing retinas with the bleeding edge of tech never before imagined even by Philip K. Dick?
April 27, 2024 at 2:26 pm #1875168I think it’s simply a matter of luck and the creators of the show treating the subject and its fans with the respect it deserves.
Both Andor and the first season of Mandalorian were interesting, despite not featuring the infernal space wizards.
Ahsoka and Obiwan otoh managed to completely fluff it’s attempt at creating an interesting show set in a universe that is so well known (or maybe it’s because they didn’t dare to do new storylines/themes?)
As such I’d argue it’s not the genre that is the problem …
//
Measure twice / cut once …
I think I forgot to measure once, because the table bits I ordered should be 210cm x150cm combined size.
Meanwhile the frame I’ve built is +/- 220cm x150cm.
I think I forgot to keep the width of the wood I was using in mind when cutting things … *argh*
Let this be a lesson. Not sure if I will fix it or simply wait for the bits to arrive to see what the actual mistake is like.- This reply was modified 8 months, 3 weeks ago by limburger.
April 28, 2024 at 9:06 am #1875275Continuing to make steady progress on my Egypt display piece. https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1660768/
April 30, 2024 at 5:58 am #1875498Keeping with the pledge I’ve put stuff out onto these pages and I’m near a point to post some more. Right now I’m between looking for another job and keeping somewhat sane putting together armies of miniatures/finishing up stuff that might’ve been good for Spring Clean.
I’ve got a few things to put up as random bits of info from this time but I need to arrange/edit before the posts go live. Gaining experience by doing might be a thing that could catch on.
