Money does that to an app, I guess… Took them so long to do, and they ended up with a pile of crap.
July 26, 2020 at 11:05 am #1553317Biggest question for me is: are the AoS App and the 40k app made by the same company? GW themselves won’t do coding. I’m guessing it’s two different companies hence the differences.
Good morning folks. It’s Sunday, I’ve got a fresh cup of coffee and a XLBS waiting for me 😉
July 26, 2020 at 7:13 pm #1553440July 26, 2020 at 8:41 pm #1553452Nice work @tuffyears I somehow can hear that poor dude on the shield say “I don’t feel so well Mr Stark” XD
July 26, 2020 at 8:46 pm #1553454@tuffyears nice Stormcast. Which chamber?
1) Some gardening. Very exciting.
2) No but probably because it’s one of the only parts I have that still work.
3) I’ve never been abroad and I live by the beach. So in my work room doing the hobbies.
Spent today finishing assembling my SWL assets, Barc Speeder and a whole morass of Stormcast.
I have the Necron half of Imdonitus to assemble but I need my co-purchaser to delivery bases to me. Oh and started assembling Fabiys Bile.
July 26, 2020 at 10:41 pm #1553486@blinky465 fair enough! I’ve had a week of loud music to drown out the bird but normally I’d be right there with you.
@tuffyears looking good! That shield is bonkers but I also kind of love it
Managed to get 15 warriors cleaned, reprimed and base colours down. They’re old sculpts and after painting 50+ of them recently, I’m getting bored. If only I had a cupboard full of unpainted minis to pick from instead… Oh wait. At least I’ll get these finished tomorrow
Watched The Old Guard on Netflix last night while cleaning up models. It wasn’t great but filled an evening.
July 26, 2020 at 11:22 pm #1553488@sundancer : different companies wouldn’t be an issue if GW owned the code and not just the output.
OTOH … I wouldn’t be too surprised if they did not (and all signs point to this), because that sort of thing requires them thinking long term and planning for contingencies (*).
Given that the app is not critical to the survival of GW I doubt that was done.It sucks … and it shows.
It also means consumers have one more reason not to subscribe as the future availablity of the app is not guaranteed.(*) even if the code isn’t “owned” by GW the use of ‘escrow’ (where the code is placed in a ‘digital vault’ ) could help, but it would require GW to understand how to check if the escrow was indeed functional …
// edit
yeah … so I had planned to do a bit of hobby.
Unfortunately got distracted by trying to finish a videogame, which meant I’ve wasted my entire weekend with games (Desperados III and ‘Rise of Tombraider’)July 27, 2020 at 5:23 am #1553516Still busting out more commission work as planned
Now more music…
I love this song. It summarizes the point of all us nerds and gamers have had when we turned to the Geek Side
When you say to the world of tension that it can burn without you and tune into a little corner where blanket forts are strong, stuffed animals offer solace to worn nerves and having a bit of a cry from the hurt of life gives relief
Ohoho… Vampire the Masquerade as a low budget music video. Toreador much? Why the hell is a Nos showing up?
Malkavians… can’t go anywhere without them showing up
Meanwhile… in Russia
Wednesday Adams from Russia
@warzan Perhaps what the cyber cowboys might listen to when conducting missions in your modern SHMUP games. Its all the Wild Wild West, right?
Bow before your electronica god
July 27, 2020 at 11:24 am #1553654@horati0nosebl0wer you’re commissions really do look great. And your amount of music just shows me how “ignorant” I am towards other styles of music. But I can’t help it I always fall back to Hard Rock, Rock & Roll and Heavy Metal… it just resonates with me 8)
July 27, 2020 at 5:11 pm #1553674I spent much of Saturday giving the garden a much-needed tidyup and collecting loads of windfall apples. It seemed a crime to just throw them away, so spent the evening chopping out usable bits and making apple chutney!
Rain on Sunday meant I dodged yet more garden tidying up (much to the chagrin of Mrs Blinky) and had a few hours to myself to do some painting. So I painted up an entry for the Papsikels painting competition that I told myself I didn’t have time to enter
Of course that’s an LED visor. I couldn’t help it. It’ll probably get me disqualified from the competition but in all honesty, its really is the taking part for me; some of the other entries were so good, I really had to up my game on painting and edge lining etc. and this one turned out far better painted than I could have hoped! (I’m particularly pleased with the way the jacket came out, the LED visor is just showing off!)
Here’s some old school leather-pants-and-topless-hairy-singer rock for you
(saw these guys live in a sweaty little nightclub, The Tivoli, in North Wales in the early 90s – they were brilliant)
July 27, 2020 at 6:25 pm #1553679Another rank of berserkers done! The unit should be done soon…though as school looms ever closer I will have less and less time to hobby…
July 27, 2020 at 7:57 pm #1553688@blinky465 fantastic job and I love the LED!
@crazyredcoat they look great. Really like the leathers
July 27, 2020 at 10:42 pm #1553744This evening, Mrs Blinky had control of the TV remote. So I spent a few hours painting up some Papsikels miniatures.
Using my last character as inspiration (lots of unnecessary panel lining) I figured I’d try to use a limited palette (for speed) and try not to make a boring looking model. After just a couple of hours, the results were looking encouraging.
I went heavy on the high-contrast panel-lining. I think it works quite well.
Yes, it creates a very “stylised” look. And, of course, there’s a bit of tidying up to do. But I think this is my new painting style. I’m sticking with it!
July 27, 2020 at 10:48 pm #1553745Thanks, @ninjilly! I might actually do a bit of a project post about the variations of colours across the unit as I think I’ve managed quite well to have a more rag-tag looking group look un-uniformly uniform.
So I made that post. It’s probably mindless ramblings, but such is life; the unit is taking longer than planned and I’m using the project system to keep me on track for my painting at the moment, so I thought I’d add an update. I also went looking for a decent, but not too expensive headset today for the rapidly approaching school year, so now I have a new parcel to wait for…
It’s a rockhammer and a 30x handlens… I’m weird… On the flipside, gives me more time to look for a headset… 😛 Have some music.
July 28, 2020 at 7:59 am #1553815Very nice work there @blinky465
