Yes, its during time that I’m drinking more than is advisable while trying to figure out how the hell to modify the images for my banner work but thanks to Communion After Dark on YouTube I have this. No apologies for it being Scooter.

    Play It LOUD!!!!

Today has become a day of busy work, XLBS might be my reward for boring work all done

Nice, congrats! They were good streams. I painted these over the course of the day bringing the “weekend” total to 11. Still no music but I finished The Atrocity Archives audiobook. I realised I’ve missed a few of the books in the series so I’m starting over again.

If you would have to choose one manufacturer of minis for the rest of your life: who would it be? (For the sake of argument it will be guaranteed that the manufacturer will stay on the market as long as you live/play/paint) – Artisan Guild, I think, even though I’ve not “bought” minis from them (i.e. supported their patreon) for a few months. I’m not really into what they are producing at the moment – but the stuff they come up with is absolutely superb. Yes, I’m calling them a “manufacturer of minis”. Digital minis. We don’t discriminate between lead, resin and plastic minis; I’m not discriminating against digital ones!

Forums: dead, useless or are people just way to impatient to wait for answers and prefer the quick “instant” responses of Facepage, Instagerm and discord? Sadly, dying out. I love forums. They managed to survive the assault of social media and are a superb means of sharing information *and keeping it indexed for years to come*.

Even this little thread is showing signs of fatigue – it would regularly reach 4/5/6 pages long and now if it hits three, it’s been a busy week – the whole OTT forums section appears to have gone quiet since @warzan enthusiastically announced launching the Discord channel. Maybe that’s where all the cool kids are hanging out. But Discord is no substitute for forums – I find Discord exhausting. And trying to find information, or catch up on a conversation, just too much hassle. Almost every Discord channel I’m currently a member of has the same problems – two or three super-enthusiastic users dominate a conversation and it quickly feels a bit “clique-y”; if you’re not involved all the time them (because of the aforementioned problems in catching up with a conversation) it’s easy to be made to feel “left out”

Did you have cake this year and why not? Not yet. But just as soon as our local cafes are open (or, tbh, the weather warms up a little bit so sitting outside doesn’t feel like the physical endurance trial it does at the moment) and I’ll be gorging coffee & walnut with the rest of them!

No pledge this week. And I’ve been listening to a lot of 90s indie rubbish like Neds Atomic Dustbin this week, so I won’t inflict any of that on you lot.

I’m off to try out Blitz Bowl. Apparently it’s very good.

Yeah, it’s not that long thread any more. Partially I blame myself but only to a small degree since I’ve got not much to contribute currently (not doing any significant amount of hobby etc). And yes, the discord drained some of the discussion but it is not only this forum that is slowly bleeding to death. If I look at the statistics of our local club forum: 2006 673 new topics, 6888 posts. 2016 191 new topics, 1297 posts. 2020 27 new topics, 222 posts. If that isn’t a steep decline then I don’t know what is…

Personally I feel Facebook is more to blame. It’s all to easy for every John, Dick and Harry to create a new group and have “their own forum” with their own little bubble. That being said: I’m guessing forums might have a second life when facepage groups get all too cluttered and manufacturers start going back to “curate your own communities”

Anyhow, I need to prepare dinner and the uHH 😉

@blinky465 Where did you pick up Blitz Bowl in the UK? I thought it was one of those GW small box games that are only available in Germany, USA and Canada.

My cake deficit was remedied at the weekend – I persuaded my wife to bake a lovely chocolate Guinness cake. Got these lads finished up too, first painted models for the year.

@scribbs – I’m not sure what the looking-at-the-floor-grinning-sheepishly emoji is. I’d already made a Blitz Bowl board from reference photos online (to go with the Fanarth bleachers and fans I 3d printed a few months back) complete with static grass surface and resin printed statues – my 3rd edition Blood Bowl humans are still three shy of being complete and I’ve only half a dozen orcs painted up, but that’s perfect for Blitz Bowl!

When my wife expressed an interest in what I was making (I can’t emphasis just how big a deal this is in our house!) I downloaded the rules and printed some cards I found on one of the BGG forums. So we’re having our first taster game. It’s the original version, not the newer 2nd edition.

So far, I quite like it.

    (btw, amazing tartans!)

I was wondering the same thing! Exclusive to one shop in the US as well I think. Glad you found a way to enjoy it – have only heard good things.

@scribbs first minis and first cake – that’s a good weekend! Models are looking great. What scale?

My YouTube video comment prize has arrived! Huzzah! But man, that box of Warcry Catacombs is heavy for it’s size. Nearly dropped it. (Like someone in transit already did)

And it had loveheart candy in it! Huzzah!

So with my current track record on how much I get finished…. I have enough minis for 2021… I’m never getting these done *sobs*

Maybe if I only focus on the terrain…

…or focus on painting the whole box as a contained project ?
