@blinky465 and don’t forget to beat the devil out of the brush
It’s Monday. Way too early at that. Enjoy your week!
February 19, 2024 at 6:23 am #1863792February 19, 2024 at 7:00 pm #1863948oh there will be hobby space … and lots of it.
I’ve effectively got an entire house to myself. All 80 odd square meters of it and a garden too.
It’s built in the 60’s so it’s not perfect compared to a modern house, but it is as good as it can be for that age (whatever that means). Not too sure about any pictures, because I prefer not to have personal information out there on the interwebs.
However I’ll see what I can do about the one room that most definitely will be my own personal man cave.
I’ve already started a project that is more or less dedicated to that part.Anyways …
I wish interior design was something us mere mortals could afford, because it’s either in the definite “can’t afford” category or thinly disguised marketing (ie : we want you to buy everything from us) line of thinking.
Every single idea I have runs into the brick wall of me not having the skills required to do it on a budget and probably not the budget to get it done by professionals. The one advantage I do have is that the house is in a good shape and with a bit of luck there’s just two walls that really need a coat of paint or wallpaper. There’s a few interior doors that are either red or some sort of purple/violet colour which is definitely not my style, but at the same time it’s something I don’t have to do immediately.otoh … if I don’t take care of things before I move then things won’t ever happen. As evidenced by my current appartment walls which are still in that lovely generic white wallpaper it had when I got it simply because I just couldn’t find something I really wanted.
oh well …
February 20, 2024 at 12:47 pm #1864121@limburger The hobby desk/mini display case are good for any hobby photos. @avernos and @sundancer aren’t going to try and stalk you like their man-crush Marco (Lol)
Here’s a guy I think you might like to check out (one day he might start posting regularly again)

Thinking about weathering…
@blinky465 have you messed about in printing terrain and adding damage effects for atmosphere?
February 20, 2024 at 1:48 pm #1864123February 21, 2024 at 6:33 am #1864208Morning lads.
There is almost light an hour after my drive to work. Is this spring?
February 21, 2024 at 4:50 pm #1864374I sure hope so! Being trying to get the outside of my house painted and some work done in the garden and it feels like months since the last time it wasn’t raining. My van has sprung a leak in the roof (so the drivers seat was all wet and musty smelling this morning) but I need it to stop raining so I can investigate and fix it! (can’t slather silicone over all the roof joints while it’s wet!)
February 21, 2024 at 4:58 pm #1864375So I finally pulled the trigger on a pre-order and am now excitedly awaiting my Army Painter Fanatic Mega Set (I really wanted to, but couldn’t justify dropping about £500 on the complete set of 216 colours).
I thought about getting some for a while, but thought it seemed pointless, given I have the original Mega Set and a load of Citadel paints to compliment those colours. But last night, while trying to quickly finish off a couple of printed cyberpunk dudes, it made my mind up for me.
My current painting style is black prime, white zenith, speed paint block colour, edge highlight (and details).
It leads to relatively cartoony looking minis, but I’ve learned to embrace that. Though I’m finding that in recent months, my “successful” minis have all tended towards the blue/green range and last night I worked out way – reds and yellows and oranges and purples – the edge highlights are just not “pop-py” enough. Blue and green paints have a strong pigment to them – reds and oranges look pale and washed out.So I figured since Fanatic paints have almost universally had good coverage of their…. well…. good coverage, I’d given them a go. No more painting an edge highlight two or three (or even four) times just to get a decent bright edge!
Roll on March 16th!
February 21, 2024 at 6:43 pm #1864400That’s a lot of paint. I wouldn’t know where to store them or how to pay for them XD
February 21, 2024 at 11:07 pm #1864418I’m seriously thinking about having a clearout – maybe donating my existing paints to a local group or FLGS. I reckon once my Fanatic paints arrive, I probably won’t be all that bothered about using my non-fanatic versions (of the same colours at least).
In the same way I bought some Speed Paints a while back (from none other than wargaming legend Henry Hyde) and while I like them, I’ve been sorely tempted to get some v2.0 speed paints too. Which would make my v1.0 paints redundant.
So I might just give them away too.
Otherwise they’ll just sit on my shelves and settle and separate and go all gunky and then just end up thrown in the bin anyway.Just like a great number of my Citadel paints have (and my Coat D’Arms “complete set” that’s slowly dwindled to nothing as I’ve chucked them out each time I popped one open and realised it was completely dried up!)
So storage isn’t going to be an issue.
As for paying for them? I’ll admit I did wince as I hit “pay now”.February 22, 2024 at 5:58 am #1864424As for paying for them? I’ll admit I did wince as I hit “pay now”.
Did the surgeon remove the liver immediately? 😉
Giving away stuff that you know you’ll probably never use again (and that is hard to sell) sounds right. If your local club/group/FLGS has something like a “noobs intro to painting” thing going it might be perfect for that.

I’m sure Bobby Tables would love that 😉
