So if we are talking about music of the beaten track: I present to you Heilung (healing)

That binds in perfectly with the book club thread. Listen to this, read the book and listen to it again 😉

New books to read, extra polystyrene bits added to my collection (evegreen assorted bits and galeforce nine plastic pipes and rods), a small led powered daylight lamp, superglue, and white primer …

now all that is lacking is motivation and inspiration 😀

Well my order didn’t arrive so instead of working on Rangers of Shadow Deep I did a car for Gaslands.

@demonsub – ooooh that is very nice! Do you have a before and after comparison? It’s a great looking “muscle car” to begin with – where did you get it? Techniques? (I’m seriously thinking it’s time to print some guns and buy some toy cars!)

@sundancer – this concert is taking it’s time to get going. I’m four minutes in and still waiting for something to happen….

Here’s the before shot. It’s the black car at the back. I got these two from Poundland for £1.50 each so there was something odd their, ha.

The bits added where just parts and items from my bits box, mostly 40k stuff. I got the wire mesh from Halfords. I used a brush on matt varnish directly over the glossy enamel paint so that further painting would stick. Its pretty much just a matter of having fun trying out various bits and bobs to see what looks cool.

Fifteen minutes in (to the Heilung concert) – this feels like an overlong introduction to a Cirque du Soleil performance; it sounds like it’s going to be awesome (my wife and I have seen quite a few different CduC shows and the live music is always amazing) but the music still feels like it’s building up to something. Five minutes of build-up is fine. I’m starting to get impatient!

@demonsub – that’s a brilliant transformation! Poundland really have shot themselves in the foot with their “everything a quid” business model haven’t they? I might just take a bike ride into Brighton tomorrow if the weather holds out. (I don’t really have a bitz box any more, since I gave away all my unpainted minis a few months back, so thingiverse and 3d printing it is).

That silver car is going to look really cool once you’ve Mad-Max-ed it up as well.

@blinky465 Yeah they should rename it Not Everything’s a Pound.

A friend got one of these sprews from North Star – https://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=14058 but yeah, there’s probably a ton of stuff to 3D print for Gaslands.

@sundancer – sorry, I’m fifty minutes in and it still feels like I’m waiting for something to get started. The whole show has only about twenty minutes left, so I guess if it’s not got going yet, it never will? I’m bailing on this and off to check out my Terrorvision playlist 😉

Weekend drawing to a close now, and boy do I feel the back ache lol.

So yesterday was very wet so didnt really get anything done so it was a 6:30 start this morning to powerhose and hypochlorite the shed roof to let it dry for a couple of hours while I went to get flashing to repair it.

Honestly I was conflicted right up until lunchtime, as the roof absolutely needs replaced, and I had considered stripping off the felt and just replacing it, but I just know if I go down that route I’ll end up in a father Ted situation of taking a dent out of the car…

To do a complete replacement will cost hundreds of pounds I just dont have, and really I only need it good enough to let me work in it to do the renovation stuff elsewhere.

So I have patched it up. And man it took a bit longer than I thought and is a tougher job than you might think too lol

All that’s left is a good coat of bitumen right across both the felt and the corrugated roof, that should tidy the look of the thing and give it another cheap layer of protection from the elements. Im mulling weather to even try that tonight or wait and see if what I have done is water tight first incase I need to add a few more biths of flashing here and there.

This is where the total lack of any DIY experience really shows lol

Leaky roofs (it is roofs isn’t it? Rooves? Nah, roofs, surely?) are a nightmare – and very rarely are they cured by bodging! Yesterday was very wet you say? In Ireland? I don’t believe it!

That self adhesive flashing is fine when it first goes down. But I’d run a bead of silicone along the edges to bond it to the roofing felt. When the sun gets hot, it tends to lift the edges and cause it to curl, longways, which can allow rain ingress (speaking from experience after I used it on a polycarbonate roof in our self-built extension). If you put your bitumen on quickly, that might act as an adhesive, in a similar fashion.

Then again, given where you are, maybe a spell of hot dry weather lifting the edges of the flashing isn’t such a concern for you 😉

I got the cloak on Vargo Hoat finished up. The lighting is a bit off (brightness setting may be too high) but I’m really happy with how it turned out. Need to do the rest of the mini now…and I’m a little afraid I’ll catch what I’ve already finished…but that’s a problem for another day.

More angles on my project including the pink lining that you can’t see in this picture.
