    ### Start of shameless copy and paste ###

First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/

Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

    ### End of shameless copy and paste ###

    Questions:

    • Zombies yeah or nay?
    • Undead busts: have you painted some? Would you like to?
    • Are you keeping yourseld hydrated?

And now back to the show.

@blinky465 yes but no. My little one turned 12 on Tuesday and yesterday the grandmothers where here so I had to be an adult and good host. Today children party will happen. We’re just on our way to the Stand Up Paddling event for the little ones.

@templar007 more painting is always better.

    No pledge, week is crammed.

    Answers:

    • I don’t mind zombies in games but at times they fell to forced in.
    • Busts are scary. I’m sure I’d ruin it.
    • Hope so!

Hoping for some shade at the water or even a small forest:

See you sometime tomorrow maybe XD

Zombies, good for movies and agreed that they seem shoehorned into games sometimes (see Zombiecide IP). I think there is room for more exploration of intelligent zombies. The Monster Island books did just that pretty well. ZNation was campy as a TV show but had that going for it. I haven’t watched I Zombie or Santa Clara Diet but I have reservations just by the little I know of them. I’ll give them a try to pass or fail in checking themout. From Asia zombies have some good stuff. Japan provided Zombie Ass Toilet of the Dead (get past the 30 min mark and you’re golden) which is a tour de force in B movie cheese. Thanks to the Weird Wide Web here’s a list of other good “bad” films.

Train to Busan from Korea is really good and even made impact for the series All of Us Are Dead as a point of reference. I’ve seen a few spotlights of Indonesian, Thai and Phillipino zombie films but just from the low low low production budget I saw in trailers I’ll pass. I have a palette for cheese from the likes of Troma films but I my taste was just not tickled.

Undead busts, dry undead mostly have the detail of accessories worn and wet undead seem to have facial mood going for them. The lighting for either would make painting them interesting. I’ve not planned on an undead bust but if I saw one and the mood struck me when I didn’t have anything else to paint *snicker chuckle* I might do it.

Staying hydrated is mandatory for working conditions. The temperatures are rising and the humidity was raised from much needed rain. I also am not a fan of drywallers as they finish room interiors which shoots humidity even higher sometimes.

Ha ha! Pundancer, we haven’t had a good music duel in a while. I’ll see your “forest” with Forest Swords

Zombies have been overused in movies, tv and games… just like vampires.

Not painted a bust as not confident enough in my skill.

In England it’s hydrating it down at the moment.

when I didn’t have anything else to paint

I see what you did there! Also I raise your sword with a broadsword! @horati0nosebl0wer

In England it’s hydrating it down at the moment.

From the top down or sideways? @pagan8th

Sidenote: Oddly enough if there is a music channel of a band on YouTube I can search for content within that channel. very annoying!

    Monday.

That’s all that needs to be said.

Got some fresh bases, need to find some time to paint.

    And sleep.

Skip a day and it’s already Wednesday.

Trooper was good last night. Might be a bit hung over. Or just tired.

    Let’s go with tired.

Hope you lot take care of yourselves.

    • Zombies yeah or nay?

Oh, absolutely yay! I’ve just given away a load of 28mm zombies (literally hundreds of the buggers) and re-printed myself a zombie hoard (and some survivors) at 32mm (heroic scale). I’ve decided that I don’t have time for stressing about minis that are too small. I prefer painting at the slightly larger scale, so why not? I’ve the entire back catalogue of VaultZ miniatures. They are fantastic! https://www.myminifactory.com/users/vaultzminiaturez

    • Undead busts: have you painted some? Would you like to?

No interest in busts. I did try one once. It did nothing for me. I like the stylised look of miniatures – it took me many years to stop hating on my own painting style which is kind-of a crude version of early ‘Eavy Metal, very vibrant and cartoon-y looking; it looks awful on a bust and I’m done with trying to make things look realistic!

    • Are you keeping yourself hydrated?

The kettle’s on again. So, I guess so.

I saw this today and it made me smile.
Those of you in the UK, you know this is right, right?

@sundancer – hope you’re looking after yourself too; lots of times your status report is “tired”.

lots of times your status report is “tired”.

It’s a combination of “getting up early for work”, “heat” and “streaming/staying up too long”. Most of the times. All in all I feel like I’m in good health. Just mentally tiered for different reasons at different times.

But! There will be relaxation had in a few days. As of Juli 6th I’m taking 2.5 weeks off. No Work. In theory XD

Here’s your music for today. It’s an old classic.

    #1825775

Hmm… broadsword is a bit of a niche to work off.

Looking at classical rock and epic fantasy… here’s the playlist for “Heavy Metal”

I will add the Rock & Rule soundtrack

I will further venture forth with some phonk of some “Murder In My Mind” remixes

warning, It might be a bit much for some ears but it’s not the level of a remix of Gangnam Style made by AI using the voice of Adolf Hitler. Unfortunately YouTube seems to have scrubbed that.

@blinky465 Your map I fairly accurate as I live in True Midlands…

However… I believe all of the eight surrounding regions are evil.

Edit: I am not a robot… and one comedian (I forget who) proved how unlikely it is for the robots to take over the planet… they can’t tick the ‘I’m not a robot’ box.

To be fair @pagan8th @blinky465 all maps of earth contain a large quantity of evil and stupid. Also reCaptach box ticking is already beaten (just look at the weird posts that appear in tech support forum)

Thursday. Slight chances of rain. Also 100% coffee. Only a week to go and then I’m woff work for 3 weeks. Huzza!

Stupid old me. TODAY is Thursday. Yesterday was Wednesday.

Didn’t do any hobby last night but watched some episodes of “Locke & Key”. Interesting and at time weird series.

Need to look up the graphic novel it’s based on.

    Until then: more coffee.

I live in True Midlands…[and]… believe all of the eight surrounding regions are evil.

Spoken like a true Brummie 😉

(now just waiting for the barrage of abuse from the Yamyams for being lumped in with “that lot”. Though to us northerners, anywhere south of Crewe is The Midlands. And everywhere south of Coventry is “cockney”. Except maybe Cornwall).

    @sundancer – I tried a graphic novel once. I didn’t like it.
