@blinky465 Swanky find for tabletop games. I think that the variability of playing areas might be a bonus for regular terrain over the pop up though the compact nature of the popup really makes it interesting. I think that there’s something to be said for the battleboard concept that SAGA brings up and I think that 40K has as well with scenarios.
Thinking about terrain setup and how it can affect play I thought back to good old Mordheim. The grimdark fantasy setting was great as a parallel to Necromunda. The over the top medieval madness from the artwork was always a treat to behold and still entertains when I think about heraldry for The Old World.
I think stepping into the hiveworld doesn’t take much of a stretch of the imagination once you get the Damned City concept. After watching some videos on it I pushed into Dredd and then thought some mood music would be good. Enjoy.
A very good producer of ambient music for the idea
Terrain painting has commenced!
August 24, 2020 at 2:47 am #1561274@sundancer You’re not wrong about that…but seeing as I never seem to actually sleep properly I don’t have much of an excuse to not make the damn thing! 😛
Sorry I’ve been absent for a day or so; internet troubles basically knocked out my whole connection for a day or two…
August 24, 2020 at 8:59 pm #1561587A change of pace to work on just a single miniature at once. I think I’ll do another nymph next. I chose this one by picking up a box at random and will pick the next one the same way. Full project here: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1467945/#snav
August 24, 2020 at 10:50 pm #1561598Started to put this tangled weave i’m making down. to see if it makes any sense what so ever. its a W.I.P as i’m a couple of weeks behind the session.
August 25, 2020 at 3:01 am #1561604So my Tom Moore mini still hasn’t arrived, yet, which is a bit upsetting but it does have to cross an ocean…so not too worried there. I did pop to my FL(ish)GS today and picked up the new Daughters of Khaine Underworlds team, so they might take a bit of a spotlight on my project. I’m going to try and get them built tonight while I play Warhammer Total War II with a mate of mine!
In the meantime, have some GLORYHAMMER (I think it’s supposed to be all caps; I’m not yelling…much…)
August 25, 2020 at 9:27 am #1561674First time posting here,so be gentle.Pledge remains as it has since Lockdown,a WWX Theme Posse ( Morgan Earps Armoured Justice ) and a Sharp Practice Literary Detachment that is currently ever growing past Sharpe,Harper, the Chosen Men and the South Essex.
Questions:
1.No,i’d rather be able to wander as I want to and frighten my wallet from time to time with an expensive purchase.
2.See above.
3.Either let my mind wander or read a little.
August 25, 2020 at 6:10 pm #1561791I’ve been making tiny circuits again. But wait… before you roll your eyes and shout at the screen “we get it, Blinky, LEDs in miniatures, yawn, show us something new” let me explain….
It’s got a PIC microcontroller in it (perfect for robust, low-voltage stuff and much more reliable than the Arduino-friendly Atmel/AVR atmega chips) The other thing on the board is a voltage regulator (but I got the pinout on the pcb wrong so had to use actual wires to put the right pins onto the right components!)
The PIC means the LED inside the miniature doesn’t just light up but can flash! Yes, Blinky makes blinky LEDs!
The miniature is for a cyborg who works in a nightclub (in my cyberpunk game). But here’s the best bit….
I recently hired a few voice actors to record some audio to use in the game. So when your character interacts with any of the NPCs on the board, the app triggers the appropriate audio clip to advance the story (yep, @sundancer, @avernos, it’s much more than just a boring old “battle royale” I proposed to you guys a while back).
So now, when this character speaks, a signal is sent to start and stop the LED blinking. It looks something like this:
It’s not pefect (the signal is sent when the audio plays and a stop signal when the audio finishes, so the flashing doesn’t perfectly synchronise with the actual words). But it does look very pretty on the tabletop!
August 25, 2020 at 6:13 pm #1561792As well as tiny electronics, I’ve been trying to get some terrain for “cyber city” finished. Here’s a little news-stand
Shame the headlines aren’t more legible through the grills on the front.
Now to find a suitable NPC miniature to stand inside it!
August 25, 2020 at 6:37 pm #1561794August 25, 2020 at 6:45 pm #1561795Welcome to the madness, @kantor72!
August 25, 2020 at 6:46 pm #1561796August 25, 2020 at 7:26 pm #1561798@kantor72 – don’t panic; that funny look @sundancer is giving you… it’s just wind.
Would love to see your western stuff – I started a posse about four years ago. I think they were Black Scorpion minis (the Billy the Kid one was a particularly good sculpt). WWX is like fantasy western? Or steampunk or something?
August 26, 2020 at 5:51 am #1561929Yeah @blinky465,steampunk is what I think fits it best,i just love all the historical characters that have had their legends added to in WWX.The mini’s are beautiful ( even the hexbeasts, not sure what that says about me though… ) and the game was an excellent fit for me because I love all the old ( and not so old,Tombstone is just fantastic ) western movies and history.
Not sure about pictures yet, taking them and then getting them on here is something i’m nervous / not too sure about, but it is something i’m ( hopefully ) working up to.
@crazyredcoat,thanks for the welcome.
@sundancer,i’m not part of the inner circle,so no need for the lube or hoods just yet… 😀 😛
August 26, 2020 at 5:58 am #1561930August 26, 2020 at 9:23 am #1562063Busy with work and a bit if driving on top of it. Powering through some Knight Models Batman stuff. Finished a Knightfall Batman and almost done with a Damien Wayne Robin. Two more left for my good guys crew. Pics to follow.
So… tired. Second early morning in a row and at the start of one of two consecutive 12-hour shifts. But then time off… sweet… precious time off…
