…because it’s bloody autumn here…
### Start of shameless copy and paste ###
First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…
https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/
Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.
First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.
You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.
If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.
A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.
Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.
Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)
And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv
### End of shameless copy and paste ###
Questions:
- Temperatures are going down. Do start priming all your stuff now to have something to paint when winter comes?
- Trees are shedding skin and other stuff. Do you start picking up “basing material”?
- Are you aware that 2021 is 75% done? It’s 85 days until Christmas.
And now back to the show.
October 1, 2021 at 5:30 am #1683891Pledge: maybe do some hobby… or clean up the space again… idk…. possibly I’m just playing Skyrim all weekend long.
Answers:
- No. Should the need arise I’ll try the warm water bucket method or dust of the airbrush.
- Nope. I’m already short on space so stuffing in more “supplies” is just a waste of space to me.
- Tell me about it…
Also some Music:
Now bugger off and do something useful!
October 1, 2021 at 10:50 am #1683977Temperatures are going down. Do start priming all your stuff now to have something to paint when winter comes?
Nah – I’ve just given away about 90% of my unpainted minis and got my “to do” list down to a manageable two-dozen or so minis. There’s no way I’m going to create a backlog already. I prime about 40 minutes before I’m ready to paint.
Trees are shedding skin and other stuff. Do you start picking up “basing material”?
I *just bought* a load of basing rubble and glue-on ballast. I’ve got about 8-10 minis that I painted over the summer that are standing on plain black discs and they really deserve better. Even a bit of scenic basing material with a quick coat and a drybrush is better than plain black discs. I think I’m going to start basing my minis before I paint them in future (now I’ve got the gear to do it).
Are you aware that 2021 is 75% done? It’s 85 days until Christmas.
An email this morning informed me that Dragonmeet is on again in December. I thought it was ridiculously early to be sending out such promotions, until my wife gave me a pinch and a punch and I realised it’s now October. Shit!
I don’t think I’ll be going (to Dragonmeet) this year, but I’m hoping to get out and about it bit more next year, once we’ve got the snow and ice out of the way and it’s started to warm up again. It feels like we waited 18 months for summer to start, then it was over in a week, and I’m already wishing the winter away!
I don’t know if we’ve had this one before. But it’s a brilliant song. So here it is (again).
And a little something that made me smile:
October 1, 2021 at 10:53 am #1683979Oh that meta table looks lovely…. but I guess they can only play space marines because anything else would be heresy? 😉
October 1, 2021 at 11:57 am #1684005My pledge this weekend it to prep and start to paint some new miniatures I just got today.
Turns out I don’t live far from Northumbrian Tin Soldier and they have a shop. They also sell reaper paints which I’ll be trying out and stock the full range of gamers grass which I’m really happy with as it’s my go to basing material.
Temperatures are going down. Do start priming all your stuff now to have something to paint when winter comes?
Nope, I prime all year around. So far I haven’t really suffered from any problems.
Trees are shedding skin and other stuff. Do you start picking up “basing material”?
Nope, I use sand and tufts rather than the real stuff.
Are you aware that 2021 is 75% done? It’s 85 days until Christmas.
Sadly yes. I work in a supermarket and we already have a Christmas area. I swear we’ll have Easter eggs in soon. I might have already got one or two Christmas presents in already.
October 1, 2021 at 11:59 am #1684006Nope, I use sand and tufts rather than the real stuff.
So you are saying sand is not real? 😉 SCNR
October 1, 2021 at 12:02 pm #1684008So you are saying sand is not real? SCNR
Yep, I use imaginary sand. It’s the best and most expensive. It’s call i-Sand ?
October 3, 2021 at 9:34 am #16842331) Temperatures are going down. Do start priming all your stuff now to have something to paint when winter comes?
It’s not so much that the temperatures are coming down, but night is starting earlier and morning starts later.
Although we reset that in a few weeks when we’re back to ‘winter time’ (because EU still haven’t decided wether or not to eliminate daylight ‘saving’ time).Anyways … never needed weather as an excuse not to prime. Perfectly capable of procastinating myself 😉
2) Trees are shedding skin and other stuff. Do you start picking up “basing material”?
But that means going to “Outside” …
That is commie mutie talk. Computer knows best. There is no ‘outside’.3) Are you aware that 2021 is 75% done? It’s 85 days until Christmas.
I thought we were still in 2019 ?
Not sure what this ‘Christ mass’ thing is. Must be treasonous activity. I will tell Friend Computer./me gots hobby related question :
Is there such a thing as too many zombies ?
I *ehm* am asking for a friend who saw the Project Z bundles …
He already has a few hordes, but apparently not enough for a ‘modern era’ zombie horde. As for hobby … I think I should make a list of my possible projects and throw a dart at it to see which one I should do.
Need to find a way to get started and stay motivated. I’ve got soo many ideas that often get put in the backlog as I think of another one due to whatever random stuff distracts me.October 3, 2021 at 10:58 am #1684251Is there such a thing as too many zombies ?
Depends. Are you a zombie in a horde? No, never to many… are you the living one? Hell, yes, way too many. Try rephrasing the question with “Orc” instead of zombie… that should give you an answer.
October 3, 2021 at 1:33 pm #1684256so … no such thing then ?
’cause there’s no such thing as ‘too many orks’ … unless you are at the receiving end of a Waagh!
flippin’ ‘eck … now you’ve gone and made me think about Orktober
https://bitsofwar.com/416-orktober-2021
Iz expensive … but interest on my savings account is 0,01%, soo … problem solved ?
I’ve got incoming packages too. One Warlord (soviet surprise) and one kickstarter (two packages … )October 3, 2021 at 4:39 pm #1684271I’ve got socks and a t-shirt from them inbound… sadly the god smasha is a bit above my hobby money.
October 3, 2021 at 7:57 pm #1684334This week’s pledge is to finish the last unit of Celtic infantry. They’re about half done and after that I’ve just got a few characters to paint to finish the army.
- Temperatures are going down. Do start priming all your stuff now to have something to paint when winter comes? – Good idea. I think I’ll put some assembly work next in my hobby queue.
- Trees are shedding skin and other stuff. Do you start picking up “basing material”? – Nope. My bases aren’t that interesting.
- Are you aware that 2021 is 75% done? It’s 85 days until Christmas. – Yes the year seems to have gone much more quickly than usual.
October 3, 2021 at 10:26 pm #1684371that god smasha was a bit too big for my storage space …
I did get me some Orkses, ’cause why not ? It’s Orktober and we gots to support the little guysOctober 4, 2021 at 5:43 am #1684390October 4, 2021 at 6:24 am #1684391 -
