Yay. Well done everyone who said (heavily modified) X-wing

(I removed the canopy and hollowed out the pilots area myself, in Blender – I’m hoping to resin-print a nice cockpit with seat and lots of screens and buttons around it to fill the void).

The wings are pretty fragile when printed as flat sheets of PLA so I clipped them off, and plan to use artboard, then glue on some “greebles” to make them look more sci-fi – hopefully that’ll make them a little more robust. The rear-end (with the engines) is printing at the minute, then the guns to go on the ends of the wings.

Thursday is a planned glue-and-paint session.

This one isn’t actually for me – but I’ve every intention of reprinting one for myself! (including built in speaker for audio – using the r2d2 head as a rotary encoder to choose from multiple different audio clips from the Death Star trench scene).

Lights and smoke…. we’ll have to see (I’d much rather get the wings opening and closing on tiny servos).

Wednesday! Survived the best movie every last night, finished Dunkeldorf Lemmy and just watched the first episode of “The Book of Boba Fett”.
