Pledge: Finish the hop lites and storage containers
OK, last pledge was a bomb but I got some stuff done. Doing NMM for armor and then getting to eyes. I think I’ve made progress. I also did one storage container as a test of a makeup blending brush and it seemed to work ok. It wasn’t the ideal for a drybrush as I didn’t want to play around with my airbrush so close to bedtime.
I also got my command unit pinned and placed to be ready for paint. After that I have female satyr, the hippocampi, another monster and maeneds. Oh, and cemtaurs. Ok, I’ll be halfway done.
November 12, 2024 at 6:09 am #1902668@avien best pledge in a long time! 🙂
Tuesday morning. My back hurts. Brain is foggy. Let’s get working XD
November 12, 2024 at 6:10 am #1902669@horati0nosebl0wer why would you do NMM on eyes? YOU MAD MAN! XD
November 12, 2024 at 6:25 am #1902671Background music does remind that I was once planning on building a speaker into my gaming table and/or terrain…
But the death of the Maplin shop makes getting hold of the components more difficult.
Until I googled… I wasn’t even aware that the online Maplin still existed… had assumed it was all shut down.
November 12, 2024 at 8:40 am #1902673@pagan8th Maplin brings back memories. Got so much of my hobby essentials & my first pc custom build from there. It was a damn shame to see them go and like you I assumed they were just gone.
I have plans for a gaming table and I was thinking about sticking some Bluetooth speakers inside the frame with the ports underneath to let them be charged. Beats wiring them up like the old days I think 🤔

Not really. You either run a speaker cable or a power cable. I’d rather put “dumb” speakers inside and have a 3.5mm jack to plug in what ever Audio source I want. No BT pairing, no running out of power in the middle of something. But that’s old me talking.
November 12, 2024 at 4:23 pm #1902782Now that my brain is running (minimally) I put in my thought on music. Good for getting motivation to start painting or for continuing to paint. Sometimes quiet is best for the fine detail stuff.
@sundancer No NMM is not for eyes. The eyes are normal and all helmets and what little armor there is got the fake shiny treatment. Jeez.. NMM for eyes? I’m not that mad. I might put in OSL in future though.
November 12, 2024 at 6:03 pm #1902790@avien avoid bluetooth speakers. It works, but when the power runs out you have to remember to reconnect them to the source.
I’ve been experimenting with bluetooth speakers for my Home-Assistant setup and while it works on a technical level it’s too fussy for real world usage.
There are (cheap) WiFi systems out there that can do the job much better and are more reliable.
On the high-end bit there’s multi-room audio systems like Sonos (btw : Ikea has Symfonysk speakers which are cheap Sonos devices)
On the low-end there’s the option to add a speaker to a Rasberry Pi and run any number of mediaplayers.WiiM is a brand that sits between both options, but it has its own quirks.
I’ve been looking into getting one of the devices from this website : https://sonocotta.com/
He has ‘solved’ the DIY part of a Raspberry Pi + audio-device so you won’t have to mess with electronics and it fits in a housing too.For details on Home-Assistant : https://www.home-assistant.io/
I’m running Music Assistant add-on to do multi-room audio using both music files stored on my NAS as well as Spotify streaming service.Link : https://music-assistant.io/
(best of all : it’s open source … so the only money you’re spending is whatever hardware you want to dedicate to it.)
And yes … I’m using this to play music while I do my hobby 🙂
Best thing is that I’m no longer locked into a single system for my music and the thing can do announcements too. (I haven’t had a need for it … but “*ding dong* : dinner is ready” will be an option :D)November 13, 2024 at 10:14 am #1902849NMM for eyes? I’m not that mad. I might put in OSL in future though.
I rest my case! @horati0nosebl0wer
Now. Wednesday. I feel better than most times after the uHH. I wonder why. Anyhow. Today I will record stuff for later. I hope people will like it. Still undecided on the title.
Have a nice week people, if all goes well today will be the day my last Army Painter green will get shipped so I can finalise my “new goblin green” video.
November 13, 2024 at 6:59 pm #1902955Grrr … a flat tire, a tiny pump and not puncture repair kit …
At least I managed to get to the office within reasonable time as I only needed to reinflate the tire twice.
I remember seeing glass on the road on my way home the day before and thinking/hoping I had avoided it.
I guess I was wrong.I wish the tires were a bit more puncture resistant, but I could be unlucky.
Time will tell when I get to repair the thing. Did learn how to fold my trike, so there’s that.In hobby related news : I got the two advent calendar thingies that Mantic made today.
So I think that’s my daily dosage of hobby sorted for next month 😉November 14, 2024 at 4:01 pm #1903038Crap! That sucks to hear about the tire @limburger. I’ve had most of my bad luck through my work sites and the random passers through the neighborhood. Soon enough the deep snow might come and hide the roads and you won’t have to worry.
November 14, 2024 at 4:38 pm #1903044puncture repaired … so all is good.
At least it wasn’t the rear tire as that would have sucked.I’d love to see deep snow and iced over roads … drifting sideways through corners.
I doubt it will happen, because they tend to clear the roads of snow pretty fast.
Not sure if that’s the same on my current route, but we’ll see when that happens.November 15, 2024 at 1:33 pm #1903097I can imagine the snow covered roads and the Dakar rally on a tricycle coming together in your dream scenario. Maybe you could get somewhere that could allow for snowmobile riding this winter.
Good news, I got my hoplites varnished anf the crates painted. Now all I need is basing details done and sealing the terrain. Progress made! 😁
