I’m off to a good start this weekend.
The warlock on the left was painted earlier this week but the creep on the right was finished yesterday.
It’s Saturday and I played Skyrim all night….
I’ve just picked up a game I was after for £3.99 (Mirror’s Edge Catalyst) so I need to find time to play it and still do everything else.
Assembling the models themselves is a bit of a 3D puzzle. For all the complaints against GW that’s one thing they do perfect.
I agree with this, credit where credits due with GW, there assembly instructions are really good. I’ve had plenty of mdf and models from several companies that have been lacking and I’ve had to search the internet for help.

@demonsub Well you almost made me die with laughter… If Skyrim gets its hooks in you you’ll have no time for anything… trust me. I’ve played it more then once and it’s always “just one tiny quest more…” There is a reason why they still sell it 10 years later 😉
The Warlock looks cute but the creeper is proper creepy 8)
October 10, 2021 at 11:28 am #1685609yeah … Skyrim is an addiction.
It’s a shame the graphics and mechanics are showing their age in places, but I still remember walking to whiterun and never getting there for the several hours because there was always a new dungeon or other site that would distract me …which reminds me that I need to do stuff today …
October 10, 2021 at 11:32 am #1685610And it’s always tempting to use your mission marker to go in a straight line to where ever you want to go… and by that way you miss some things but more then once you stumble across nice things… and may some to high level characters for you to beat XD Snowtrolls for example.

I’ve certainly been there myself, not just with Skyrim but with its predecessor Oblivion.
October 10, 2021 at 3:40 pm #1685647@sundancer don’t forget the giants … or the occasional dragon.
My main reason for not touching ‘Civilization’ unless I knew I had time : “one more turn”
I tried playing the recently released ‘Humankind’ , but I couldn’t get the hang of the game, because too many things were explained too quickly for me to absorb.
Civ practically forces you to start a city on turn 1 (yes you can ‘explore’ but survival chances are practically zero), but the initial phase of Humankind has you roam the land finding ‘food’ to grow your tribe. You can only build a city if you’ve gathered enough resources.October 10, 2021 at 5:19 pm #1685649October 10, 2021 at 5:32 pm #1685655It’s a shame the graphics and mechanics are showing their age in places
Mods, @limburger, mods fix this…though sometimes it can get REALLY taxing on your PC.
I haven’t played Skyrim for a year or so…I’ve been on a Fallout 4 binge of late…but I ought to boot it up at some point and sink more of my life into it. What’s the saying, ‘if you enjoyed wasting time then it wasn’t wasted’? Something like that… 😛
October 10, 2021 at 8:50 pm #1685681@crazyredcoat only on pc can they do that. I have the PSVR version … and it’s just bad.
Even if you ignore the low resolution (to account for the power needed) the way they’ve done VR is in the most lazy way possible. And that kind of sucks, because even as a pure walking sim Skyrim would be a fantastic place to visit in VR.
@sundancer I think we ought to be grateful that the dragons aren’t like the giants in Skyrim 😀
It kind of sucks that the big bad dragon is rather easy to deal with by the time you get to him.
At least I remember the dragons themselves being much tougher, mostly because they could catch you unprepared …October 10, 2021 at 8:56 pm #1685702That does kind of suck. You’d have thought that the visuals in a VR game would take some precedent over other things…
October 10, 2021 at 9:38 pm #1685739Lets not forget: skyrim was never made for VR so if it looks bad there it’s not really to blame in the game itself 😉 Pong in VR wouldn’t look very good either 😉
With that said.. have you ever had missions in a game yo really don’t want to do? On the one hand I’d like to 100% complete a game but there are mission with cannibalism which I don’t really want to get into
October 10, 2021 at 10:21 pm #1685740Anything that requires me to escort a npc or an npc to drive me around.
Saints Row had an absotely awful one where you’re driven around an airport and there’s guys with rpg’s shooting at you.
And because you’ve got an idiot AI driving you and the enemy has pin point accuracy … you’re f*cked.I was playing SR3 recently and one of the side-missions had you being chased by a ton of cops with the moron AI at the wheel.
Combine physics with wonky path-finding … and net result was that the moron got stuck behind a wall with enemy AI spawning all around us. I couldn’t do anything … until we finally died. And then there’s the missions / quests that need you to complete objectives against ridiculous tight time limits designed for kids fueled by red bull or something. I just can’t be bothered and tend to quit the game if I can’t finish it at my pace.
I remember Skyrim having missions that involved doing favours for various ‘evil’ gods.
If you complete them you get goodies. I suppose that’s where the cannibalism was ?
I only did the ‘wrong’ thing in one of them. In the rest I pretty much ‘won’ whatever goodie there was to be had by being evil.I don’t remember what I did with the cannibalism one (google says ‘a taste of death’)
I was playing a Khajit so I didn’ feel too loyal to the weirdos up north 😉
//Mel the Terraintutor is back :
I’m currently tinkering with my soviet army list.
If I want to use the BT-5/7 tank that was part of the ‘soviet surprise’ I’d have to make it an early war soviet list.
2nd Battle of Kharkov appears to be the latest possible.- junior Lt + 1 soldier (regular): 60 points
- Major (regular) : 150 points
- Guards squad (regular, 1 NCO + submachinegun, 7 infantry with submachineguns, 1 LMG + loader (rifle) : 144 points
- LMG squad (reguler, 1 NCO with rifle, 8 infantry with rifle, 1 LMG : 120 points
- Commissar (inexperienced) : 15 points
- Medic (regular): 25 points
- Forward Artillery Observer (Regular) 100 points
- Shtrafbat squad (inexperienced) 1 NCO + 8 infantry rifle : 63 points
- MMG team (regular) : 55 points
- Sniper team (regular) : 50 points
- AT Rifle team (regular) : 30 points
- medium mortar team (regular) + 1 spotter : 60 points
- BT-7A tank (regular) 125 points
(7A variant has a light howitzer)
Total 997 points …
I’ve got 1 box of 40 soviet infantry, standard HQ blister, Soviet Winter support pack (MMG + Medium mortar), BT-5/7 tank
So I think I’ve got everything already. Not quite sure if it is an effective force and if I’m missing anything.
Easy Army didn’t list a free squad .. so I suppose that is only in the generic soviet army list …Not sure if the link works :

October 11, 2021 at 5:38 am #1685777Happy Moanday morning to all.
Yeah escort mission are the worst. Thankfully that doesn’t exist in Skyrim XD
I’m really happy to see Mel coming back even though he’s doing it at a time where I’m already on my way to bed. :S
It’s a list. with points. I don’t know anything about that system XD But the link works… it opens up a PDF.
Now of to the caves.

You ever tried to do one of those ‘follow NPC ‘X” missions, mate? Those are frustrating as hell…they move faster than you walk and slower than you run…
