    ### Start of shameless copy & paste ###

First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…

Read all of this before you start as it will save any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

    ### End of shameless copy & paste ###

I think I definitely stand a good chance of being first this time round! Can’t really make a fixed pledge again, though I may still get some hobby done. Got my first stab of 5G booked for Tuesday, though, which is exciting to me. Really wish I had a bit less going on to actually be able to do some hobby, but we’ll see what I can do.

    Questions!

Have you seen any of the Stargrave videos?

I’ve watched a few. John’s paint pen camo was a pretty neat idea, I must say.

    Do you play Stargrave?

Not as yet. Won’t rule it out, though seeing as playing games is something I’ve not been able to do I have a list of things I want to play once I can get back to it.

Will you join me in the fight on AMG for Star Wars: Epic Legion?

I’m always up for a fight! Being belligerent is fun. 😛

Even if I don’t get around to painting, I might try and do some research work on my project post. Getting a bit bummed out with it all being Bolt Action stuff. I love the game and my paint jobs, but sometimes you just want a bit of colour in there, you know? Not much of that in the drab uniforms of WW2…

    Some music!

Hello all. My pledge this weekend is to finish my 12 Numidian skirmishes. Then on to painting a Moonstone model.
I’ve also just had a copy of Domains of Dread, the Ravenloft book for Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (2nd edition) from DrivethruRPG delivered today so I’ll be diving into that.

Have you seen any of the Stargrave videos?

Yes, quite a few (and not just on this website).

    Do you play Stargrave?

Not yet. I got the book early (thank you North Star) and have been painting miniatures (Core Space) but I’ve got so many projects on. I do have a giant toad on order to use as one of the alien creatures.

Will you join me in the fight on AMG for Star Wars: Epic Legion?

AMG? Not sure what that is. I’ve never really got into Star Wars as a table top game, sorry.

    • Have you seen any of the Stargrave videos?

yep, but I haven’t had the time to watch them all yet due to some crappy real life circumstances.
I do intend to because I want to win moar stuff … 😀

    • Do you play Stargrave?

The Frostgrave videos got me interested in this type of game. Definitely planning on creating a few crews to use.
Don’t know if I get to play it (yet), but I was kind of planning of making my nephews suffer *eh* enjoy this game once I figured out what to use (and once I finish painting anything).
The best thing is that you can practically use any mini available.

    • Will you join me in the fight on AMG for Star Wars: Epic Legion?

    Make Starwars Epic again ?

    That’s not a fight … it is a crusade!

Plegde is simple : trying to find happyness …
    And as Conan said :
Happyness is a fully painted army, the cries of anguish of your opponents and the lamentations of their women.

well … he might not have said that , but I like to think he did 😉

OH … and my oldest kickstarter project finally arrived last week.
The artwork is great and kind of reminds me of an alternate universe 40k where only humans exist.
Haven’t opened all of the boxes (for obvious reasons), but I did open a few.
The only negative so far is that not all minis appear to be in the same scale.
However given that this is a boardgame first I am going to assume that it isn’t a big problem.

(OMG .. just read the comments … I guess I should open that core box and check for mold ASAP)

Happy weekend folks! Pledge is to finish some Napoleonic French and get started on something else for the Spring Clean Challenge. Had plenty of ups and downs at work this week so a little peace and painting is due. Also going to go to the cinema tomorrow and I’m very excited about that!

Have you seen any of the Stargrave videos? Only the first one, catching up over the weekend.
Do you play Stargrave? I’d love to be but no, sadly I’m without hobby funds thanks to Covid related rubbish and will be for the foreseeable future. Two people, one salary = no fun money for little fighting people
Will you join me in the fight on AMG for Star Wars: Epic Legion? I dunno, I feel like I’m overly committed to lost causes as it is

Been watching coverage of the new Vietnam expansion for Arma 3 and so lets have some late 60s, early 70s beauts this week shall we?:

@ninjilly SW:EL is no lost cause! You heretic!

But please do list what other “lost causes” you have commited to 😉

Well painting a different model seems to have worked as I am now progressing with my Celt’s again at pace. This week’s pledge is to finish 12 Celt warriors. Also I have the week off and the kids are at Grandma’s so I should get the time to play more solo Tainted Grail.

    1. Have you seen any of the Stargrave videos? – Nope
    2. Do you play Stargrave? – Nope

Sorry @sundancer I forgot to take my red pill this morning!

This afternoon’s progress: The green is a bit bright but they’ll get an all over black wash once I’ve gone round tidying up.

@ninjilly Don’t worry too much about the brightness on that green. If I remember correctly the Voltegieurs (I can’t spell French…) did have relatively bright green colours compared to, say, the Riflemen of the British Army.

@sundancer He must be a heretic if he cannot see that SW:EL clearly shows that it is just a swell topic to dwell on and a fine hill on which to die fighting! 😛

@crazyredcoat yeah, I’m largely going off the painting guide in the Perry minis box. They were just a project for a bit of a change and not really designed to go to a table ever. I’m enjoying them but I can’t see me painting 200 of them. Have managed to find a (true) skirmish game that I’m going to use some of the skimishing models for.

Yeah I realised how much work it was going to be when I came up with the mad idea of making a 28mm Highland Brigade…all that tartan… Suffice to say I haven’t touched that idea for several years… 😛

Edit: Good thing I never did that…just looked up the Brigades and such at Waterloo…the Highlanders weren’t actually formed into brigade together…that’s a relief. 😛

Aye, that can get in the bin! Think I’ll stick to 10mm for big army sized games. I was looking at trying to paint up something to join in with what’s already played at our club but I’m just not that much of a masochist.

My foray into Napoleonics all started when I really got into British Uniforms of the period while working at an old fort from the War of 1812 (which is part of the Napoleonic Wars regardless of what people claim). I got a box of the Perrys to build into the 57th Foot…then I got more Riflemen…then I got some Highlanders… You all know what happens at that point… 😛 I really ought to paint them, or repaint them… I did think of doing a project of a soldier from each regiment at the time, but 104 redcoats was too big a project…
