@blinky465 yeah, I’m not a fan of shouty singers either. I went to see what covers I was thinking of and realised they were done in 2012 so ignore that “recently” comment! Clearly I have no sense of time whatsoever.
Sorted through what remains to be painted from my Paint it or Punt it which felt like doing a little bit of hobby without actually lifting a paint brush. I have a Starfinder game on this afternoon but hopefully will put some paint to a model this evening.
May 22, 2021 at 7:37 pm #1648500I’m not sure anyone has a proper sense of time anymore… I swear the last year was about 6 years long but took about 3 days to get through… 😛
May 22, 2021 at 7:53 pm #1648503May 23, 2021 at 12:16 am #1648558Well I got a mini primed. I have to do the basic ground work for the armour and such before I get to my skin tone experiments. He’s an Ultramarine, so no real need to document the basic paint scheme, but I will try and document the skin tone experiments and the ancillary details I have planned. Didn’t prime the base, yet, but I already named the dead Ork on it Rokbut Notrok, Arch Warboss of Lithos…for reasons… 😛
May 23, 2021 at 3:48 pm #1648763Spent the day catching up on YouTube so still no music but have managed to put down base colours and a wash on all but the last Burrows and Badgers models I have.
Back to work tomorrow after a week off so got the Sunday blues. Thankfully it’s only two weeks to my next one – Covid means everyone had a load of holidays needing used up before September ?
May 23, 2021 at 8:52 pm #1648803Well I spoke too soon…I went to go get my paints for doing the armour on my Marine only to discover that my Macragge Blue and Calgar Blue are not of use and I chucked them out… Paint shortage is a wee bit of an issue. Maybe I will have to stick with some Bolt Action stuff in the short term; I know I have the paints for that…
May 23, 2021 at 8:56 pm #1648805Dried out paint is the worst… lucky me I only had that once when I bough a GW paint with the screw tops…. that thing was a nightmare
May 24, 2021 at 7:23 pm #1649182I finished by 75mm 3D print. https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1593676/
@blinky465 I included a step by step on OSL, but I’m no expert and on a black and white mini its very easy. There is no colour blending to worry about.
May 25, 2021 at 5:10 pm #1649612Finished an officer for my Brits. Still kind of annoyed that I don’t have all the right paints to keep working on a variety of minis… My ‘general’ project is very much looking like a Bolt Action project at the moment…
Post is up on the project as well.
May 25, 2021 at 5:34 pm #1649620Any kind of painting is progress 😉
I’ve been a bit “out of painting” for a couple of weeks now. Hoping to get back into it this week. I can’t even use a lack of basic materials as an excuse – I love my Army Painter set, have loads of supplementary citadel pots and this weekend had a delivery of half a dozen Pro Arte Renaissance Size 2 brushes – I was obviously ready to start painting again last week, when I ordered them!
I’ve got it in my head that I’ll take all my kit with me onto the narrowboat next month and have a week of floating about and painting in the evenings (we joined a boat-share co-op and have a week booked mid-June playing on the canals near Stoke).
Maybe I’ll take a 4G antenna (to make sure I can get internet in the boat) so I can take a look at @danlee ‘s OSL tutorial and give it a go myself….
May 25, 2021 at 5:39 pm #1649621I have a set of new brushes that my brother got me a while ago…but I just keep using the old ones for now until they are completely FUBAR to save my ‘good’ brushes. Somedays that seems like a stupid idea to me…but I’ve never claimed to be a smart man. 😛
May 25, 2021 at 5:45 pm #1649623Hahah! I know exactly what you mean! I had a couple of brushes my wife got for me, that I didn’t like to use because they were “for best”. But when I used them, I really liked using them, because they were so nice and made painting so much more enjoyable. But I didn’t like using them, in case I spoiled them (I know, right?)
Which is why I bought half a dozen of the same brushes the other day. Now I paint with brushes that are really nice to paint with. And it’s more enjoyable. And when a brush “wears out”, it can have a job doing some base coating or even some drybrushing, and I’ll just start on a new one!
I used to be stingy with my paints for the same reason – I didn’t want them to run out. So I’d be really mean putting just one dot onto the palette at a time. But you know what? Putting three or four dots makes painting much easier, I still haven’t run out of paint – and when I do, they cost, like, £3 a pot to replace.
It’s taken me over thirty years to get my head around this!
May 26, 2021 at 6:37 am #1649809It’s Wednesday my dudes…. Not much done hobby wise (except the uHH and a little bit of filming for a little build video)
But I will say something positive today: Another day has passed without me having bought any new shiny stuff! The pile of opportunity stays stable! HUZZA!
May 26, 2021 at 7:35 am #1649810It’s the little victories, isn’t it? I knocked a couple of resin-printed aliens onto the floor and broke them. They went into the bin. My pile of opportunity has actually gone down!
