Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Been a while since I’ve been in the forums here (since before the site redesign), so hi! Just started really getting back into the hobby after finding a metric ton of plastic and metal sat around in boxes*. So, to the questions!

a) I want to say more, but it’s relative. More than normal, less than at my peak. A lot less.

b) Not really. I keep trying but things keep happening that make it more difficult.

c) Sadly Covid isn’t going anywhere soon, between that and, well, no politics here but there are going to be things that will have effects well into next year, maybe beyond. Still, I wanna hope everything at least improves a little as time goes on.

Pledge: For the weekend? Assemble 12 Dryads. For the week? Get the Dryads painted.

Been slowly working on an Alliance of Wood and Sea from the AoS Idoneth book because I want at least one of my many, many “projects” from my past to actually get finished. I was actually going to make a Project when I started the Treelord, but my computer cooler went caput so that had to get shipped off meaning I had nothing to preview my photos on. Sadly that meant all my photos were pretty dire since I had somehow managed to not notice that my years old phone still had the protective coloured film over the camera lens so…yeah, not proud of that. Still got him finished despite the lack of photos, the Dryads were the first miniatures I’d painted in over a decade while he was the first large mini I remember painting to completion pretty much ever.

They were an attempt to make them look like coral, to fit the whole undersea theme of the Idoneth and considering I remember my painting skills as roughly equivalent to a six year old who can’t perceive colour I’m really happy with how they turned out.

NOTE: I tried posting photos. They turned out bad, and now every time I try to upload one it just comes up with a file icon and name. Frustrated now since the originals worked despite resolution loss but I can’t even upload those pictures anymore. So if anyone cares there may be a link to my pictures just below. If it works.

* A TON of plastic and metal. There’s a small amount I’ve assembled in my pictures collection in the link above. Just remove 23 infantry, a tank and the spider walker from the back, 2/3rds of the ogres, the warmachine stuff and 40 goblins and the rest was all put together over a week or two.

And that might be half of what I found maybe? Maybe less? Got a full Dropfleet KS order sitting around, random sci fi stuff from when titan forge and anvil did Kickstarters, two or three Wrath of Kings army’s from THEIR Kickstarter, a Dropzone Commander resistance army…the list goes on. I have so much stuff it’s gone beyond funny.

Edit: Bleh, Treelord photos didn’t turn out all that great. Ah well. Sorry ’bout that.

Edit the second: Huh, lost a lot of resolution in the upload process. Looks fine on my computer. Unsure how to get around that. Oh well, C’est la vie.

Edit the third: Uploaded the same photos to the photos section of my profile and they turned out fine, confused.

Couldn’t fix photos, no clue if they can be seen through the link so this is an arbitrary attempt to see if a new post will let me put photos up. Not holding out much hope but eh, worth a shot.

 

Oh yeah, forgot the music thing. I dun really listen to music that much when I’m hobbying. I tend to either throw on youtube or something I’ve seen a lot. Soooo…I dunno. Blue Planet from David Attenborough, I tend to put his stuff on a lot since it’s calming and easy to listen to.

Don’t worry about picture quality. Out of focus shots are a hallmark of quality that few of us can achieve. 😀

The media are decades late with this ‘news’. Boardgames have been on the rise since Settlers of Catan made it into the mainstream shops.

So maybe in 5 – 10 rotations around the sun we will get to 2021 for realz …

Not too much spare time this week, but I did prime Bronn, so MAYBE I can get some paint on him. Expect some red for two reasons: He is kind of a part of the Lannister cause, and I love Khorne Red as a colour. It’s pretty. Other than that, I shall answer thee these questions three!

Yes. Maybe. I sort of lost track but there are some bigger things I have bought during The Event (Stay Indoors). Not so much The Event 2: Electric Boogaloo.

I haven’t bothered with that for years, no reason to change just because the world is a flaming dumpster fire (except New Zealand…lucky Kiwi bastards…)

Oh it’ll be 2021. That’s how numbers work, but I hope we don’t get a 3rd wave because ‘The Event 3: Electric Boogalee’ just doesn’t sound right…

I was very busy this Friday so almost forgot about the thread. I have this week off and the kids are on holiday with grandma so I’m hoping to get lots of hobby done. Milestones 2 (and overspill into milestone 3) for path to conquest should get done, plus I’m playing through Fall of Avalon again while it’s safe to leave board games setup on the coffee table.

regarding dicks mine is small an inoffensive so no worries there

Had a few moments spare today, so I got some paint on Bronn. Probably all I’ll have time for this week; papers and labs take up a lot of time, after all. 😛

Just a nice touch of Lannister Red for him. He probs never wore that colour, but I’m not too worried with Characters like Bronn and Brienne so long as I get a semblance of book descriptions.
