    ### Start of shameless copy and paste ###

First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/

Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

    ### End of shameless copy and paste ###

    Questions:

    • It’s the last weekend of you vacation/time off work. Next Monday its back to work. How will you spend your last 48 hours?
    • What is your “Want to do” vs “got done” ratio in regards to our hobby?
    • What should I wish for myself from my wife for my upcoming birthday?

And now back to the show.

PLEDGE! Get more paint on minis. Progress has been slow but there is some. Already awaiting incoming murder teddys. Also:

I won my last game of Battletech. Bad dice rolls were pretty much equally distributed between us leading to things like: mechs standing in close range, shooting alpha strike and both hitting ZERO stuff.

    Answers:

    • Mostly like any other weekend. Doing laundry, making a new thread, having coffee and potentially some meat on the grill if the weather complies. That’s Saturday. Sunday is planned with “DOING SHIT ALL AND JUST RELAX!”
    • This time it’s roughly “10 wanted to get done” vs “3 (almost) done”. Not to bad, but could be better.
    • If I only knew.

Here is some music you’ll never forget:

This weekend I am now finishing my SAGA leader on beast. The mask worked this time and I am finishing up the detail work. Last night’s booze was good. I slept soundly. I will hobby with vigor today.

The want to do will always be larger than my got done. “A man’s reach must be greater than his grasp” is great, but being more realistic in how much can be done makes for better balance. I’ve been putting in more one shot figures to help boost that thought and should toss them on here soon to share.

Since you have limited space perhaps more desk organizers so you can store things in drawers vertically or on the wall. Maybe she could get you an electric pin vise if you happen to do any pinning of models. Could you get your new army that you have yet to settle on?

The opening music looks like a mid to late 90s product. Nostalgia is in the works.

This weeks pledge is to not rip my managers testicles off and feed them to him… but my past record on keeping pledges is very poor 🙂

Last 48 hours before returning to work is a few seconds considering how bad it will be followed by ‘don’t care… shit happens’…  [I could have an extended rant about the changes made at royal mail… but the short version is that the managers increased the workload by 50% and reduced the amount of staff… all they care about is parcels… letters make no money… end of rant!]

I daren’t think what my ‘want to do’ to ‘get done’ ratio is, but it’s directly proportional to the free time I have.

The gift to wish from your wife is ‘tolerence of your hobby’.

@horati0nosebl0wer yeah, the music is very much of that age XD

Storage stuff would be nice alas *all* of the walls are already covered in shelves and stuff. There is literally zero space. Unless I start to store stuff on the floor which will drive me nuts.

@pagan8th if you do that kind of feeding of the manager: make a video of it. makes for great social media content.

The gift to wish from your wife is ‘tolerence of your hobby’.

I already have that. I am a very lucky man in that regards.

Off to preparing dinner. No BBQ tonight as the heavens have opened the floodgates.

Pledge:  Building more 1/700 scale waterline WWII ships.  Testing a new airbrush that has been on the market for awhile that has quick capability switching of paint without clean up in between colors. (maybe I’ll try my hand at a unboxing and/or review) (building conference with the cameras is the biggest chore) ?

    Questions:

    1) It’s the last weekend of you vacation/time off work. Next Monday its back to work. How will you spend your last 48 hours?

    Answer: Hobby my a$$ off!

    2) What is your “Want to do” vs “got done” ratio in regards to our hobby?

Answer: I always want to do a thousand different things but am lucky to get two to three done per week.

    3) What should I wish for myself from my wife for my upcoming birthday?

Answer: A game or set of miniatures that are on your top ten list of stuff wanted but you have just put off getting for some reason. (or maybe her presenting you with your favorite birthday cake while wearing a Princess Liea metal bikini outfit)  (I ask my wife for this one every year as my birthday approaches but have yet to get). GOOD LUCK ??

Success!!! I am done with the leader on beast. My project has more photos and scale reference. Oof, now time to do modelling on the field artillery crew.

In other news… I have more camels.

By the by… has the WhatvAre You Painting Now thread been killed off in lieu of promoting the project system as the Discord has taken its place for instantaneous feedback?

    Scorpion king!

    More camels = more humps!

The thread is still there and alive.

    What Are You Painting Now?

It’s in the ” Painting in Tabletop Gaming ” sub forum.

@templar007 good idea with the “game wishlist” but a bit over budget. Also I can’t handle another game system at the moment. Maybe I need to visit my boardgame wishlist… that could work.

Breakfast today starts with Double Espresso, dash of cream, and sprinkle of French Coco.

    Two eggs sunny side up.

Bratwurst fried with sauteed mushrooms .

Hash browns dusted with smoked paprika.

All sprinkled with kosher salt and cracked black pepper.

I plan to eat outside on the front porch as it is only 78° F and then continue building WWII ships.

That sounds like a lovely way to start the day

I’m working on my next entry to finish out the Arabian Knights and I’ve found Rust-oleum rattle can paint color  Nutmeg matches GW Steel Legion Drab perfectly. A happy accident after doing some quick purchases at my local hardware box store.

@sundancer It sounds like you need more room for your room. Shelving can only do so much good.

If anything, as you don’t have more hobby space, enjoy a very fine bottle of booze-ahol with your missus. She’d enjoy the liquor with you and probably snooze snuggled with you as you both enjoy bad movies together.

@pagan8th As much as you may eant to try and introduce Rocky mountain oysters to your boss it doesn’t necessarily mean good things afterwards. Remember… Goosfraba

@templar007 Dammit… I’ll make my hike from the Rockies one day in order to eat as well as you lowlanders. I may have imported Tibetans, Koreans and the odd Middle Easterner here but it doesn’t mean the kind of sumptuous food you describe regularly.

Why do I feel we need a food pr0n thread at some point? Sharing the most weird and satisfying snacks, treats and dinners.

    Mornin’

    Monday.

    Back to work. *sigh*

    #1830103

Woot! Elrik’s Hobbies has the rights to Secret Weapon’s resin bases and is selling them. I can match my old stuff and base more things in similar fashion.

@sundancer Keep your German splosh to yourself. I’ll just drool over the sumptuous thoughts and not peruse Instagram for visually alluring food. I’ll also not go back to YouTube and learn about all the yummy Korean food I “can’t be arsed” to make as it takes so long (check out the Maangchi video regarding plum wine).

This week’s pledge is yet another Raging Heroes 3D print. I just finished last week’s: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1794968/

    • It’s the last weekend of you vacation/time off work. Next Monday its back to work. How will you spend your last 48 hours? – Very little. I timetable my holidays to ensure I get everything I want to do done.
    • What is your “Want to do” vs “got done” ratio in regards to our hobby? – Not far from 1:1. Mainly because I don’t play many games these days so don’t get sucked into wanting more armies.
    • What should I wish for myself from my wife for my upcoming birthday? – Yikes that’s a tricky one. Anything I ask for that I truly want is always dismissed and I get given what I’m told I want.
