### Start of shameless copy & paste ###
First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…
Read all of this before you start as it will save any trouble later.
First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.
You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.
If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.
A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.
Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.
Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)
And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv
### End of shameless copy & paste ###
Questions:
- How are you feeling currently? Still hung over from St. Paddy day?
- What positive things happened to you in the last days?
- What is your favourite holiday?
Discuss!
March 19, 2021 at 5:45 am #1624391Answers:
- Not hung over but after much much more work that usual I feel like I can sleep through the entire weekend. Also I’m starting to wear thin on the mental side. I know it’s “only” a pandemic not a war and we only need to (basically) wash our hands and remain indoors but still…
- One year of twitch streaming. XD
- Most of the time it’s Christmas. Because it’s usually the only longer time off I can reliably count on and get some mental rest. Now: more coffee
Pledge:
Kids on bikes need to be finished. And the new DLC from Outer Worlds wants to be played.
Music:
Let’s start slowly shall we?
March 19, 2021 at 6:19 am #1624392March 19, 2021 at 10:00 am #1624450Ah happy Friday all!
Pledge for this week…well last week was fairly productive hobby-wise. Got not just one but five games of Frostgrave in (fun game!) and a bunch of NPC models painted up for it. So I think the goal for this week will be to get the last few members of my warband painted up (mini’s finally showed up!) and to finish off all the NPC models I have available.
On to questions :
1. Feeling pretty good. Spring is starting to become a reality here (slowly but surely…did get dusted in snow a few days ago), family is good, hobby stuff is happening and still getting to work from home 🙂
2. Had a few positives that stand out from the last week…got to get together with my parents again after who knows how long (they got their vaccinations a few weeks back) and had a birthday. Hobby wise, finally got to try out Frostgrave and had my Alkemy order arrive.
3. Halloween is my usual go to favorite. I love the time of year and community nature of it. Thanksgiving is right up there with it though.
@sundancer Sorry to hear you’re feeling down (I always liked the quote “like butter scraped over too much bread”). The changes to habits, schedules, community, etc have hit a lot of people hard so don’t feel alone in it or like it’s not a valid feeling. Things seem to be on the march towards being more open here anyway so I hope the same is happening where you are.
Also, congrats on the year of streaming!
March 19, 2021 at 11:08 am #1624497Happy Weekend!
Hello @sundancer and @baliThe Last Unicorn… wow… there’s one I’ve not seen since my age was still in the single digits I’m sure… I don’t remember the story, but somehow I feel sad just thinking on it?
My pledge this week will be carrying on: one Elf mage is nearly finished, another awaits. I’ve just got to work on the horse to go to complete the mini. I’m still working on the ruined tower too.
How am I feeling?
No, not hungover. I’m ok, as usual.
Though, a couple of weeks ago I found out (the hard way) that I’m not allergic to wasp stings! The wretched beast whacked me on the back of the head, then really went for my hand when I put it up… my middle finger still has a mark where it got me, just next to the fingernail. My first wasp sting… that was fun. What Positive thing happened?
I found a YouTube channel, Auralnauts, that has been around for 8 years already. I found them highly amusing! A shorter sample for you to consider (uhhh… a little nsfw, but not too bad):They clearly have a love for Star Wars, but also love to take the piss from it too.
My Favourite Holiday:
Usually Easter or Christmas. These times have always been traditional times for my extended family to get together. Also, it helps that sometimes my birthday and Easter sometimes line up 😉@sundancer These pandemics, they aren’t a regular thing. It’s perfectly reasonable to feeling fatigued. Especially if you’ve had an extra heavy-duty work week. Take some time to just chill.
Congrats on the one year of streaming.
More coffee = good coffee, right?@bali five games?!? Nice! My group is too disorganised for that X-D.
March 19, 2021 at 11:36 am #1624506Happy Friday. This weekend I’ll be working on finishing Kornovik on his woolly rhino, taking photos of the whole barbarian project and working on a related pdf. I may do some tree base painting and I’ll certainly do some long awaited spring cleaning of my remaining chaos marine models.
How are you feeling currently? Still hung over from St. Paddy day?
Pretty good actually. I’m really feeling the hobby right now.
What positive things happened to you in the last days?
Are the last days upon us now? Well, that’s a bit of a downer. Otherwise I found a use for some old rattle-can varnish without it going bad (I was put off that stuff after it fogged. I always use brush on now. I used it to seal some tree foliage). A tv show I found a little boring turned out to be very good in the 2nd half (Behind Her Eyes on Netflix).
What is your favourite holiday?
My birthday, I always try to do something special.
March 19, 2021 at 1:13 pm #1624528The Last Unicorn… wow… there’s one I’ve not seen since my age was still in the single digits I’m sure… I don’t remember the story, but somehow I feel sad just thinking on it?
@rayzryr you should rewatch it. It has no classic happy end but a good end. Plus Christopher Lee is the Count…. 8)
March 19, 2021 at 1:25 pm #1624533@rayzryr to be fair it’s not too tough for me as I’ve got one of my kids playing so we did a few “standard” games and are now working through the core book scenarios (most likely do the anti-magic tower tonight). Now if I can only get the other one interested in playing 🙂
Thanks for the tip about Auralnauts, I’ll have to check out the channel. If you’re into any MMORPG games I came upon the Epic NPC Man series by Viva la Dirt League. A large collection of skits poking fun at the genera.
March 19, 2021 at 3:28 pm #1624589It’s actually still morning for me when I write this…amazing! Anyway, this week I have to do all the schoolwork that I haven’t done last week. I will be so glad when this online school nonsense is done; it’s just draining… For that reason I won’t make a specific pledge, but my upcoming plans include repainting a Tau Fireblade (once the paint finally strips off), weathering my Predator Tank a little, getting more Game of Thrans minis started, painting the last lady from the Daughters of Khaine Underworlds team, and then whatever else takes my fancy. But that’s just possibilities, not pledges…schoolwork first…
Questions!
How are you feeling currently? Still hung over from St. Paddy day?
Drained. Didn’t do anything on St. Patrick’s Day, so not because of booze. Just drained.
What positive things happened to you in the last days?
I finished another model, does that count? I guess most of my school grades are good too. Ask me again in a few days and I might come up with something.
What is your favourite holiday?
Probably Christmas. It’s in the winter, so it’s cold, and (usually) I get to see my brothers for a few days. Most other holidays I only tend to notice if I get them off school or work. I’m not particularly observant with that kind of thing.
Anyhoo, in last week’s post I promised a finished mini, so here she/it(?) is: Snek Lady!
It’s a working name…can’t remember what her name is supposed to be and I haven’t thought of my own name either… Project post coming soon!
March 19, 2021 at 5:54 pm #1624641Happy weekend folks.
Questions:
How are you feeling currently? Still hung over from St. Paddy day?
I have given up caffeine and unhealthy foods this week (from Tuesday) I had the worst headache on Wednesday and Thursday, I am assuming because of this. So even though I had Guiness in, I did not consume any.
What positive things happened to you in the last days?
Started a healthy regime 🙂 Its light enough at night to go for a walk too.
What is your favourite holiday?
Christmas 🙂
I will pop down some pledges later on when I am home from work.
March 19, 2021 at 9:06 pm #1624728Hello again folks.
So my Pledge for this week is to finish off the last 3 frigates I have for A Billion Suns and actually have a read of the rule book.
Music!
I love Rage against the machine
I love Soundgarden
So here is some Audioslave.
March 20, 2021 at 10:37 am #1624766This weeks pledge is to assemble and start painting ten Pteraxii for my Adeptus Mechanicus. It may take all week to assemble them as so far it has been taking 40 minutes to do each one.
- How are you feeling currently? Still hung over from St. Paddy day? – I’m feeling ok. I’ve never been inclined to do anything for St Patrick’s day.
- What positive things happened to you in the last days? – Finishing my Dweghom army with their bases felt good.
- What is your favourite holiday? – By default it must be Christmas, as its the only holiday I do anything for. The rest are just a day off work, no different from a Saturday or Sunday really.
March 20, 2021 at 10:45 am #1624767It’s Saturday. Now to catch up on the weekender.
But since we need some more action here: hey Lord @warzan I am now a Lord too!
LORD TIM & LADY TINA by the virtue of the ownership of land in Scotland, by way of a dedication, upon the effect and the receipt of this proclamation, in particular regarding the land described as Plot J579603 by Established Titles, may henceforth and in perpetuity be known by the style and title of LORD & LADY and shall hereafter, to all and sundry, be known as LORD TIM & LADY TINA .”
I am a Scottish Lord you peasants! XD Got this for my Lady and me for our 7th wedding anniversary. Your turn Lord Warren ; )
March 20, 2021 at 6:53 pm #1624862All Hail Lord Tim!
@danlee Were you playing Tainted Grail a while back? Did you manage to finish it?
Gonna chill now with a pizza and a pint.
March 21, 2021 at 9:06 am #1624981@thedace I played through the base game last year and documented it in this project (https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1467741/). Since then I played through it a second time with a different character and taking different plot choices. I’m in the middle of playing the first expansion right now but finding it a bit harder going. The expansion’s great but my kids are a bit older now and going to bed a bit later. It makes it hard for me to play in the evenings.
