“as long as they have a stove/oven…” 😉
Yes modern commodities are nice thing to have. But to be honest the dishwasher is really helping a lot. It saves time, space and actually energy/water. Plus it gets all dishes cleaner then I ever could.
On the plus side, I found the fault. A hose in the back end has a slit crack and spills water into the machine where no water should be triggering the emergency water stop. Part it already ordered. let’s hope it gets here fast.
May 2, 2021 at 4:59 pm #1641950oh … I am aware that a dish washer can save time in a family of 4+ …
On my own I doubt there is any advantage (and definitely no savings) to be had. Can’t you use ducttape to fix the crack ?
or failing that PUR ? (not sure what the local equivalent is for that insta-foam in a can … )
May 2, 2021 at 6:07 pm #1641953Got the loader finished for the MMG team. Just one more chap left, though I need to do some work to thin the puddle base he has. I know it’s likely sacrilege around these parts, but I really hate working with metal models…they are clunky and troublesome. I’d take resin over them, but I prefer hard plastic… Anyway, the loader!
I tried experimenting with a dark backdrop…but I think I prefer the brighter light grey I had before with my current (highly improvised) set up…
May 2, 2021 at 6:25 pm #1641955It a very rubbery part. A bit like the hoses in a cars radiator. If you try fix that stuff it may hold but in the long run you’ll be taking the machine apart again. And since it’s a washer that is integrated into the kitchen, I’m taking no chances
May 3, 2021 at 1:12 am #1642057So – Line of Duty. Disappointing series finale? I mean, it’s all to easy to draw parallels with where we are as a country right now, but that’s against thread rules. So sticking firmly to the subject of a made-up story in a made-up TV show – is there anyone actually happy with how it ended?

May 3, 2021 at 1:53 am #1642088> How could small, one-man-operated companies band together to get their stuff to people outside their “tax-zone”?
On KS, they’re already doing this with 3D printing. No shipping fees, no customs — and none of the risks of casting. I don’t think wargamers are all that particular about what weapon they’re army men are holding, but Hero Forge (?) has shown us that RPG’ers will pay $40 for a custom miniature. With 3D printing, not only will hobbyists who only want to design miniatures have a way for their artwork to reach the market, but miniature hobbyists will be able to customize their miniatures, without greenstuff, pins, and other converting. And no mold lines, either!
AFAIK, Inexpensive 3D printers are sort of here, and you can build terrain with them. And if we ever get 3D printers to print in color up to advanced tabletop, I’ll be glad to not paint again!
May 3, 2021 at 2:17 am #1642093NO! The painting has not killed me… though the planning and execution are a pain
Pledge: tempt you lot with more of my Saga developments…. 3D models are in progress and there’s printing to be done.
Brexit has only made me more painfully aware of exchange rates and the shipping from over there is a pain. Oh, wait… I forgot that I keep sending packages over there and to that upside down part of the world. Nevermind, I just haven’t shipped anything in a while as I’m doing my painting.
Something I got done to decompress from Saga
Shipping has made me rethink the recent addition that I’d like to make to my developing Saga forces. I’ll just wait until next paycheck (or the one after) as I’ll be able to throw some of the OT pay I’ve gathered at minis.
One man operations as a collective might well be able to get out their products through a central service hub for selling but its not really all that much I’m well versed in. All I can think of when making reference to tax zones are the special business districts of China. More often than not I consider E. Europe to be really stuck with not being able to kick out their products as much as I might like. There are some creators that really make good stuff but its a bit of a task to delve into that market. I think that geographically shipping is a bitch. Historically communism and the open market have not played well together so economic development to allow for our hobby might take a bit of time (if at all considering migration and brain drain). Communications infrastructure doesn’t delve into all the corners of those countries so we might well be missing out on great pockets of talent. Just a few running thoughts in my head when I let that question dangle in the mental shark tank.
Music!
What I’ve been listening to while photographing and editing the display of recent work
May 3, 2021 at 3:12 am #1642095So being the indecisive bugger that I am, I decided that the webbing on my MMG team was too bright, so I added a coat of Agrax to mute it down a bit. Might add an extra coat in the morning if I still think it’s too bright. For the spotter I’ll deff not highlight up that high… Not sure why I did on these chaps, to be honest, because I didn’t bother with the Ogryn Camo on my last few minis… I’m a little bit of an idiot. On the subject of painting…I would never want it to go away from the hobby. I don’t care how good a 3D printer gets…I want my peaceful painting time. 😛

@blinky465 Suguru? I am confused, what do you mean?
May 3, 2021 at 8:50 am #1642148@sundancer – brilliant for fixing leaky hoses. I used it a lot when we lived on a narrowboat. It’s heat resistant, mouldable, perfect for fixing hoses similar to car (or marine) engine ones.
May 3, 2021 at 11:05 pm #1642448@sundancer hopefully it is a quick fix for you. The element has gone in mine and I’d forgotten how much I hate doing dishes. Life is too short!
@crazyredcoat the mmg team look good but yeah, I think I’d feel the same about the webbing. At the end of the day, we all know we think and care more about our minis than any opponent we come up against so if you think it is worth the change go for it.
Haven’t taken any photos because the light has been garbage here but managed to bash through a bunch more models for Frostgrave. Only got three of my original 51 to go and I’m looking forward to painting something more interesting during Wednesday’s radio show. I’m just ignoring all the terrain I’m meant to be working on…
May 4, 2021 at 12:06 am #1642455Yeah, I think my problem was jumping up with highlight colours too much. For the loader I’m going to try to not jump to Ogryn Camo while still using Beil Tan Green shade, but it that’s still not quite right I’ll switch to Athonian Camoshade for the brown tint to the green.
