And as expected I got practically nothing done, but I’ve done some thinking about my next project … so it wasn’t a complete waste of a sunday because names are important. The proper name will make things easier for me and more difficult for anyone else. That’s the idea, right ?

I’ve registered a domain name and a teensy weensy website, because I wanted to experiment with that sort of stuff.

No worries… as the days get shorter, colder and darker I feel much less energy to do stuff too.

hmmm … I remember making some myself using a recipe that involved yoghurt (or something similar) for some odd reason. It did work, which was even weirder. Fresh waffles are the best, aren’t they ?

So far the site has the default “this domain is taken” page that the ISP uses as the default content.
It is nice that they don’t force you to buy a ssl-certificate by allowing you to automagically configure a “Let’s encrypt” certificate for your chosen domain. So no excuse to not have https by default 😀
Need to do some reading to understand what the heck everything is, but that’s about it.
Not going to use php (although the site comes pre-cofigured with that) or the wordpress package that is optional.

Anyways .. what was I thinking ?
oh yeah, names and starting that damned project.
hmm .. ‘project of the damned’ would make for a nice ‘undead’ themed plog, so hands off if you’re thinking of using it ’cause it is mine now.

You’re right, it has gone a bit quiet. But it’s been like this in the forums for a while. I’ve been a bit busy this weekend – but did find a couple of hours to finish off my Blender re-posed version of the Blood Bowl Start Player “Zog”

(ok, not really finished – still got the feet to do; but I’ve already static-grassed a base up ready, so he won’t be stood on a boring plain black circular disc when I get them painted)

Nah. Standing upright hair is easy, since it “flows” out of the head nicely (when printing from the feet first). Far harder to print are models with lots of overhangs (that require additional supports). So the girl on the far right might be a problem – in which case I often find rotating a model a full 180 degrees and printing “upside-down” (with their feet in the air) usually solves it.

Lots of spiky bits on the top sides always print well. Spiky bits on the undersides (pointing downwards) usually require lots of supports – but then again, it’s easy to hid the “nubs” left by contact points if it’s part of a super-spiky jacket or hairstyle.

Orientation will be key to nice printing. I’m excited for these models.

Active Directory? Oops. I feel your pain. It’s a long, long time since I decided “I don’t need this kind of hassle” and delegated it all to a sys admin. I don’t envy you one bit – because I know what it’s like to be the berk who just stands and points and complains “I’m not interested in how screwed up it all is, just make it work – once and for all – will you?”

You have my sympathies (though a little bit of sniggering and “sucks to be you” too).

3D printing is awesome. You should try it. Are you frightened you might like it?

Oh I’m sure I would like the hobby. But I really don’t have any practical space left to set up such contraption. The garage gets close to outside temperatures so either the resin starts freezing or the extruder clogs. Nope. With my current living situation it’s absolutely impractical.

And if I hadn’t had a bad enough day already: Hasbro, wankers that they are, are now going full retail with Heroquest… AND THEY EVEN LOCALISE IT!

I’m pretty sure it’s nothing personal (right guys?). In the same way activity tends to attract more activity, I guess once one or two members go quiet, the rest of us suddenly run out of things to say too…?

Had there been any movement on the Secret Santa idea? I’m pretty sure I signed up for it, but I’m not sure what happens now. Maybe we can kickstart that? (I’m frantically searching through my emails now to make sure it hasn’t started and I’m the one letting the side down my leaving it so late)
