    ### Start of shameless copy and paste ###

First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…

    Introduce yourselves (New member thread)

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/

Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

    ### End of shameless copy and paste ###

    Questions:

    • Are you ok? Do you drink enough and eat well?
    • Do you have a place, person or way to vent stress and negative thoughts?
    • Looking forward: Will 2022 be the year we get back to normal?

And now back to the show.

Another Friday, another day closer to the end of the year! No pledge as I have plans! 😉

    Answers:

    • Yes… I think so.
    • Well there are discord channels, the uHH and driving… and by driving I mean I sit in my car and every time someone does something stupid I go into a rant rage for 10 seconds and release all stress that has been building up.
    • I really wish it would… but I’m saying it now: 2023. If all goes well…

    Happy Friday.

Pledge this weekend is to assemble a bunch of models that have been sitting in their blister packs for the last two weeks, then I might paint an angry hedgehog.

Also I’m off to a friend’s tomorrow to play Aeronautica Imperialis, a game we’ve played a few times before but it’s been a while. I’m not sure how he’ll set the game up or if he’s bought anymore stuff for it but I’ll find out.

Are you ok? Do you drink enough and eat well?

I’m fine and dandy. I eat far too well and drink plenty (water & tea mostly).

Do you have a place, person or way to vent stress and negative thoughts?

I go for walks regularly, it helps with stress, especially as I love to walk quite fast. I have a good old rant to various friends now and then and they similar. When I do get negative thoughts they  come mostly at night, mostly, but nothings that too bad.

Looking forward: Will 2022 be the year we get back to normal?

Hopefully, as medicines & vaccinations continue to roll out and we find new & better ways of helping and preventing the virus. I think the main thing will become more psychological. It will take time for people to become comfortable again doing things.

    1. Are you ok? Do you drink enough and eat well?
I think so, not 100% but good enough (I hope)
    2. Do you have a place, person or way to vent stress and negative thoughts?
videogames do help a bit, but I do wish I had a proper 2 week holiday to de-stress
note to self : need a padded room for shouting and stress relief
    3. Looking forward: Will 2022 be the year we get back to normal?
only if we redefine ‘normal’ as ‘whatever the fck the current situation is’ …

Anyways … not trying to plan anything, because I’ve got my weekly grocery shopping for my dad to do on saturday.
I do have to see if I can get started with one of many projects/ideas that I’ve had since forever …maybe reorganising my hobby space/storage should be first priority.
OTOH … knowing me I’d probably get distracted by new shiny …

Organizing and cleaning up the hobby space helps… most of the time…

bad news … I got new shiny incoming, because I liked the new WarCry set a little too much for my own good.

I shall try to challenge myself to build stuff instead of just thinking about planning to try and build stuff.

Not sure how that’ll work, but I need to find some means of just getting on with hobby stuff.
Because I keep finding stuff I want to know more about, like this ‘Divisions of Steel’ game :

    Videos

It sounds like an alternative to Flames of war that looks like it should be easy to learn.
The only ‘problem’ is that it won’t have the infinite amount of supplements that FoW has, but that can be a good thing too.
It would be nice to have a set of rules that simply is ‘finished’ without a built-in need to buy more.
And yet games that are this ‘complete’ feel like they are missing something …

Music … we needs more of it

This morning, it’s because I followed the links to the live blog for Salute. And ended up watching videos for the UKGE. It took me two videos to realise a) if was all a bit familiar because I’d already seen them and b) it’s supposed to be Salute this weekend, not UKGE.

In general, it’s Blender’s UI. I’ve been re-posing .stl files for Blood Bowl miniatures. Blender is super-powerful. But, jeez, it makes your brain boil trying to remember how to do stuff with it!

(right, original static pose of “Zog” by Galaad miniatures; left, re-posed in super-dyanamic running pose).

I see the potential of confusion XD

    Nice work on the reposing.

If I understood the conversation on discord correctly I may have accepted  a challenge  from @jamescutts  :

Blood & Plunder: Raise the Black Painting Challenge

This calls for a proper pirate response so …

please hold while I think of one.

No pledge for this week as I’m going to be away on business. I did manage to finish by Tyrants of the Tor models though. https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1593676/

    1. Are you ok? Do you drink enough and eat well? – More or less ok. Eating and drinking has never been a problem though.
    2. Do you have a place, person or way to vent stress and negative thoughts? – This is something I struggle with. Family commitments stop me getting away and I don’t want to burden others.
    3. Looking forward: Will 2022 be the year we get back to normal? – At least in the more developed countries I suspect the vaccines, and now cures becoming available, will largely stop the pandemic. The rest of the world will be suffering with it a lot longer.

    It’s Sunday.

    No XLBS

No XLBS but a load of vids from Salute (which I’ve now watched).

All of my minis are prepped & ready to paint and Aeronautica Imperialis was played last night and was quite enjoyable, especially since I won and blew all of his Tau planes out of the sky, while only losing one imperial craft myself.

Just need to paint that Angry Hedgehog and that’s my pledge all done.

… You lot stay safe and healthy!

I Went for a walk this morning then visited my parents and watched the Remembrance Day service on the TV. Just had dinner and my stomach is feeling very “healthy” now. Good times.
