Achtung Cthulhu not going well. Too lethal for our liking (and I’m being nice with the battles). As written, the modiphius stuff is killer and hard to hold a story together when PC’s are having near death experience every week. Time for a change.

So… maybe a fantasy game and Arabian Nights has been discussed.

Looking for some proxy miniatures for heroes and villains. Don’t mind buying the odd miniature from Crooked Dice for the main characters, but cheap proxies for the rank and file are needed.

Not sure if they are close enough in appearance, but Wargames Atlantic and Perry Miniatures do some boxes of Afghan’s from the 1800’s that I could build without rifles. Will they pass muster?

If not that does anyone know of a cheap source of suitable minis that I can get away with using as proxies? No I don’t have a 3D printer.

Retirement hit a little earlier than I was expecting and I can assure you it isn’t an endless glut of free time in which I can now hobby 🙂  I had hoped Sunday at least would be hobby centric but alas that wasn’t the case.  Never mind, I did get some undercoating done and the scheme used will be an excellent base colour for the skintone on these warriors:

I’ll update the project in a bit but I thought I ‘d show you chaps first.

    @pagan8th They will pass muster.  Your other options are;

    • Gripping Beast Arab Infantry, nice enough but the sculps are older and lack detail on the Perry and WA kits
    • Perry Sudanese Tribesmen.  I built a set of ‘Thieves’ for my Conan skirmish setting.  There are bodies with a naked torso and left arms with the Beja dagger strapped to the bicep and bald heads.  I think I got 12-14 out of the box of 40 so plenty for a skirmish setting.  I used some spare round metal shields but the ones in the WA Afghan set are the Indian/Persian style and they also have hands with the Khyber short sword that I thought looked suitable.

Let us know how you get on.

@sundancer Lovely work at your end too.  They are really coming on quickly.  In answer to your question on the tufts I buy them in.  Life’s too short to make my own tufts 😀

Thanks for the information @zoidpinhead I think I prefer the Perry Afghan’s from the various options.

I own the Conan boardgame by Monolith and might be able to use a few of those miniatures in an Arabian Nights setting.

Should probably finish assembling the Traitors Toll miniatures before I buy another box of stuff, but how things are going the new campaign may be kicking off in a couple of weeks.

Achtung is likely to end one way or another very soon and my money is on three letters being involved… TPK.

@limburger nah, they are in fact to small for that.

The Traitor Toll assembly excuse has gone. Just glued the last of the expansion miniatures together, so that’s 24 guards, 36 peasants, 1 drunken dwarf and 1 leftover Frostgrave wizard to paint.

Although I do feel that the streets of Anhk Morpork… I mean Traitors Toll… will not be complete without this…

Now where I am going to get my hands on a Gaspode?

The Luggage – game over for whoever is on the wrong side of that surely.  Well done on finishing a thing.

I too have been inspired to finish part of this weekend’s pledge.  I did the other Midgard list for Sláine.  Here’s part of the new force (wangdangle alert!):

I’ll keep plugging away at the Spring Clean stuff through the week.

That’s just too much skin. Looks like one of those hairless cats. Not a criticism of the painting… just the mental scarring.

😀 The skin is fantastic. I can’t claim credit for this one. It was bought ready painted from Cornish Mikey.  He is always very reasonably priced for his painted stuff.

Now where I am going to get my hands on a Gaspode?

Didn’t Steamforged Games do “Dungeon and Doggos”? Should be a gaspode like in there if there is nothing in the original line from Micro Art Studios @pagan8th

@zoidpinhead  is that a flesh golem or Big Boris after a night out? XD

If his name is Boris and you can see his Johnson… does that make him an ex-prime minister? And does he need a Truss?

    Yeah… I know… technically politics… but it’s an attempt at humour…
