    Where are the weeks going?

Weeks and days go BRRRRRRRRRRR. Using Fimo is interesting but isn’t that stuf expensive compared to things like DAS? @blinky465

Are you sure your in Germany

Ja, mein Herr. Pretty sure. @templar007 you drive carefully

    2024 – get out more!

That sounds like a t-shirt slogan I find! I’m still so flocking undecided about Dungeonalia. I have ideas but nothing that really lights my fire.

We had a blizzard here in Brighton too yesterday.
Not sure I’m going to be able to dig my way down the workshop at the bottom of my garden in this weather! (ok, what I mean is I’m going to have to wear something more substantial than slippers and put the heating on in there).

It’s also arctic-freezing down here. My thermometer almost dipped below zero! I think we must have been the coldest point on the planet, or something. If it continued, I’d have had to call in mountain rescue to deliver my shopping. Luckily it’s all melted away today.

@sundancer – yes, Fimo is relatively expensive compared to DAS clay (about a tenner for half a kilo, compared to five for a kilo of clay). But it’s a million times better. DAS shrinks sooo much (by up to about 20% last time I used it).
Plus, I got to make beads and jewellry with the kids too, which they would never have done if we didn’t have a variety of lurid, brightly coloured artifical-polymer to play with.

Ah, the old “it’s for the kids” argument to tell the other half why you’re spending way too much on hobby stuff *g* Hard to argue about that.

Is the model really finished if the base is still untouched? 😉

It’s Wednesday (I think) and the night has been a short one. Hope everybody is keeping warm and hydrated.

Bases don’t count. Everybody knows this! 😉

    Today is A Good Day.
Unable to resist any longer, my wife has discovered a love of all things miniature (with added pointless electronics)

She’s “installed” her first book-nook and is already looking up where to buy her third and fourth projects (the second is already under construction).

    thanks @pagan8th.

I think I prefer the individual tile approach. And, yes, there’s something quite “charming” about the “hand-crafted” feel of them (compared to, say, just 3d printing a load of tiles). A bit like the appeal of earlier Wallace and Gromitt stop-motion movies over the later computer generated animations.

HaHa. I’m pretty sure the Great and Wise @avernos teaches us, “Faces and Bases first, all the rest after” ??

Another cold day.   This morning I’ll be driving on sheets of ice to get to work.

I like the look of book nooks. But they take up valuable book storing spaces. So I don’t have book nooks. More books.

@templar007 is that driving than or more like sliding?

    More books = more shelves.
More shelves = more space to add other stuff – like book nooks!
Do it all – get more books, put up more shelves, get some book nooks 😉

(we’re using them now as “mood lighting” when we don’t want the big light on in the living room – they make the place look all cosy and twinkly).

At some point I need to get my brother to make a proper wide angle shot of one of the walls in our bedroom. It’s literally a wall covered in DIY book shelves. Almost no space left to put any more books.

But since our landlord is trying to increase our rent [*] I’m more actively looking for a house to buy again.

[*] I say “trying” because he’s got a company doing all that stuff for him but they do such a bad job about it that the way they do it is legally not correct. Hence we need not pay it says our legal advisor. They will get it right eventually but until then they can flock right off. If they want my money they have to do it properly. Greedy bastards.

Well it is so cold this morning that I’m thinking of just calling in..

    8° F ( -13 C)

    With windchill it’s -11° (-23 C)

But I’m a fool….I’ll probably still try to start the SUV and drive to work.
