    Very nice! @sundancer

In the Star Wars: Legion match, which teams/groups/troops were squaring off?   Was there a particular scenario used?

We played the 500pt skirmish set. So 3×3 map, some terrain.

    My force was

    500/500
    5 Activations

    Imperial Officer 45 + 4 = 49
    –Targeting Scopes (4)
    Darth Vader 175 + 22 = 197
–Anger (3), Saber Throw (5), Tenacity (6), Up Close and Personal (8)
    Stormtroopers 44 + 40 = 84
    –DLT-19 Stormtrooper (20), Stormtrooper Captain (10), Targeting Scopes (4), Tenacity (6)
    Stormtroopers 44 + 43 = 87
    –DLT-19 Stormtrooper (20), FX-9 Medical Droid (19), Targeting Scopes (4)
    Stormtroopers 44 + 39 = 83
    –DLT-19 Stormtrooper (20), Imperial Comms Technician (10), Targeting Scopes (4), Long-Range Comlink (5)

    Enemy was:

    497/500
    6 Activations

Luke Skywalker (Hero of the Rebellion) 160

    2x Rebel Troopers 40 + 20 = 60 x 2 = 120
    –Z-6 Trooper (20)
    Rebel Troopers 40 + 27 = 67
    –Z-6 Trooper (20), Rebel Trooper (7)
    2x AT-RT 55 + 20 = 75 x 2 = 150
    –AT-RT Rotary Blaster (20)

    The mission we played was

    Breakthrough
Victory: At the end of the game, each player receives 2 victory markers for each of his unit leaders that are within range 1 of the enemy edge of the battlefield.

At end of Turn 6 I had one squad of Troopers left and his Luke stood on my table side and so that was 2 vp for him, none for me. XD

It is Monday and progress has been made.

Also I started building my Revell X-Wing kit only to find myself missing the clear plastic pieces of the kit. RMA issued. At the same time I came to two personal conclusions:

    1. Revell kits are mediocre quality at best. I don’t know when they went bad but “back in the day” when I build airplanes and other models, the quality was way higher.
    2. I like to build. Painting and gaming is nice but building stuff is where I really feel relaxed these days. I don’t know if that will change or vary but at the moment all I want to do is build stuff.

Have a nice start into the week!

I picked up a few Revell Star Wars kits for my WEG Star Wars campaign… Slave 1, Millenium Falcon, Air Speeder and X-Wing.

Been so long since I bought a model kit that I can’t say how bad they are now… must be nearly 50 years since I built a model kit until last year and as I kid I was not a great modeller.

I also find building to be relaxing… unless it’s one of the multipart bastards that GW like to do that requires the assistance of a pixie (small hands) and eyes of an eagle.

Painting can also be therapeutic for me… although batch painting units is not much fun. I loved painting Warmachine and Hordes leaders and solos… but the units not so much.

I guess it’s also down to what of their “Levels” the kit is. The X-Wing is 3 so “advanced beginners”. I also have the T47 Snowspeeder but since that model itself is more “chunky” I may not have realized it. Also they are cheap and do look nice once build so I guess it’s alright 🙂

And I totally agree with you on the GW multipart complaint. Modular, pose-able is good but parts that only go together one way are a PITA.

Monday evening, what to do next? 15 Minutes of hobby and then?

    Suggestions?

My hobby is well underway. In the last week I’ve surprised myself and painted 18 miniatures, both for the lizardmen faction in Five Leagues From The Borderlands.

    2E83AD7C-0F11-4A43-82BF-FEF04A44618D

    Lizardmen from Wargames Atlantic.

    459FE36A-2BE2-462B-9E3E-DF48C5690BD8
Tribals from Frosgrave Ghost Archipelago set by North Star.

There’s a fair few more to paint yet but I’m having fun. Next is more Lizardmen, from the same boxed version set as those shown above but with different heads and a less colourful paint scheme.

@demonsub – those look superb. Awesome work!

@sundancer – telly off, computer off, Youtube, off. Read a book. Yep, a tabletop RPG rulebook and game fluff counts.

    @sundancer I meant the T47 Snowspeeder…

@blinky465  too late! I did computerstuff. Result is here:

@pagan8th “T-47 airspeeder” is actually the “correct, in lore term”. We, the movie audience just call it snowspeeder as we only see it on Hoth. Even the Star Wars: Legion expansion is called “T-47 airspeeder” 🙂

It’s Tuesday. It’s way to early. I want cookies!

@sundancer you are of course correct. I should know better as I have a spent far too much time buying the WEG Star Wars books and reading pre-disney fiction.

Thanks to WEG Star Wars there are things and species that Lucas never named, but WEG did and some of those passed back into lore…

If I recall correctly, the Twi’lek were named by WEG and they are perhaps one of the most famous species in the Star Wars universe now. And I believe the Speeder Truck used in Legion was first seen in one of the Timothy Zahn books.

And you are also right about it being far too early… downside of a job with an early start!

    Wednesday my friends.

I may have gone on a bit of a rant yesterday. AMG unboxed the new Star Wars game on twitch and  named some prices.

Star Wars Crisis Protocol (aka Shitterpoint) comes in at a breathtaking 164,99USD and the first expansion box (called “Hello there” with General Kenobi, Rex and two clown-troopers) is 44,99USD.

And twitch chat went wild with “that’s reasonable”.

For reference, the Whamster 40k Commander extra long dong edition is 145.

AMGs new “Beginner box” is more expensive than the top tier G’Wullu thing.

    Flock me.

I was interested in Shatterpoint… but that price seems very high… about double the cost of Marvel Crisis when it came out.

Without seeing the terrain assembled you can’t tell how much you’re getting.

I still haven’t gone beyond core box of MCP for two reasons…

    1) I haven’t had a chance to play yet…

    2) The expansions are far too expensive…. effectively £15 a miniature… I don’t think you should ever have to spend more than £5 per miniature for any game.

@pagan8th – certainly not since the advent of 3d printing, right? ?

But on a more serious note, the fact we can produce at home for pennies (after the initial hardware investment, granted) what companies are charging tens of pounds for just seems crazy.

I get that they need to make a profit, and that there are marketing, IP and production costs etc. But £15 per mini?!

I know some people are still in denial about 3d printing for our hobby but it’s looking more and more like it’s the only way future game/mini ranges are going to be viable!

Unless of course it doesn’t really cost so much to produce, to have to sell at £15 a mini after all….
