@unclejimmy I’d definitely recommend PSC they’re great minis just not as crisp and nice as FoW but at 15mm does it really matter?

So today is getting the Paras Camouflage Done and starting on the basing.

Saw this just came out and I’m really trying not to buy it but it’s just so dam cool! I should get my This is Not a Test minis out and have a game sometime.

@elessar2590 – Jamie is into Fallout! I’ll show him that big thing. I can already think of a few things I could do with the big robot…Secrets of the Third Reich would love it!

That is what I meant about details.

There was no bus to the art gallery so we caught this.

@unclejimmy The Squid Heads are from Mantic Games Trident Realms. That bunch is the Trident Realms Warband box for Vanguard. Fun to build, fun to paint. Even the metal one. Thank goodness Infinity has kept my metal sticking hand in.

@robert I’m tempted by aquatic bases and my Abe Sapien from Hellboy will have one. For these though I wonder how much fighting they’d be doing actually near water.

@woldenspoons – I might have to give them the once over! I did look at a game called ‘Deep Wars’ (I think) that was underwater and it looked/sounded pretty good. The minis were fantastic too.

Fighting in or underwater is something you would want to avoid. A knife is ‘useful’ underwater, but all your h-t-h skills are virtually pointless.

To quote Mr. Fish…”So here we are once more.”

@unclejimmy – I don’t know what technique would be best as I am also experimenting with the same thing. Not bad looking weathering already, but I suppose it depends on what/where you want to put it when finished. Is it going somewhere a bit dingy and dirty or is it going to be somewhere gleaming where everything is kept spotless?

@tuffyears – is that guy related the the drummer from Lynyrd Skynyrd? He would have made a great guest for the Jeremy Vile show! I still have some Wacoshop paints, maybe twenty, that are half empty. I chucked loads of them and the ones I have left are colours that I think are useful, but when they go I will have to find a Vallejo alternative!

I started to change over to Vallejo about two years ago. ‘Iraqi Sand’ rules. They have a much better range for my uses (Infinity and modern stuff) and they come in better bottles.

Wacoshop have had to change their “formula” over the years and not because they want a better product for the customer, but because they don’t pay their suppliers and get cut-off. However, their washes are very good.

Informative video. As interesting as those paints look they are not for me.

Aussie SAS in local dress w/M4 and Soflam. Tasty mini or what? I couldn’t sleep last night so I started drawing some plans for new middle-easter style buildings. I already have a Force-on-Force series of games ready to go, but I fancy some new terrain.

Other than @oriskany is there any other modern players here? Anyway, my EOD team need a new vehicle before they can ‘move-out!’

    Anyone seen ‘Bluestone 42’?

@unclejimmy – thanks! I will let you know. I have just spray varnished the double-upright container and will see how it comes out a bit later. I intend to airbrush a couple of coats of Russian Uniform green over the hairspray and then see how it compares to the others.

I want a mix of new-and-old boxes/containers. Our Infinity games have an industrial look to them. There is a waterside dock with overhead crane (great for TO camo snipers), Mag-Lev train (needs a station) with monorail too, places for workers to live, food trucks, and I want to make a bar!

Have you seen the hexagonal pool tables from AW? That is why I want to make a bar.

Part 02 of the AirWar C21 game between myself (Vietnamese People’s Air Force) and @elessar2590 (US Navy, Squadron VF-51) – Operation Rolling  Thunder, North Vietnam (Dong Hoi, just north of the DMZ), late 1968.

Hope you check it out and enjoy some of the funny bits.  😀

One of the doctors asked me “if I was missing much” while I was laying there sweating like I was on the Sun. I tried to explain ‘wargames’ and playing with toy soldiers. He looked at me like a dog that has just been shown a card trick!

This is what I was missing…I think. I wanted to join in – I even downloaded the app thingy.

Next time. I will watch this in the bath.

There are other types, but this was the first one I saw. I found someone on Ebay selling PSC Pak 40’s for £5 each.

@unclejimmy I’ve heard of ‘Bluestone 42’. Never got a chance to see it though, but it’s British comedy so it must be worth a peek.

Given that I’ve got a ton of armies to paint & assemble a good & interesting modern skirmish ruleset that isn’t out-of-print is on my watchlist (I blame OTT and the SitRep forum/podcast for starting me down that road *). Spectre Ops and Skirmish Sangin are two options I’m considering for when/if I gots time and opportunity to hunt them down in physical format.  PDF’s lack that ‘new rulebook’ smell.  Something like Ghost Recon/Rainbow 6 vs drug boss …

It’s finally starting to cool down to regular summer temperatures around here.
With 40k hobby weekend in two weeks I really need to get assembling my minions.
I’ll probably end up with two sort-of-active-when-I-get-to-it projects (in addition to about two dozen factions for systems that are in my mountain of plastic/resin/metal because I like the shiny stuff and can’t limit myself to a single system/setting/theme ) …

(*) not really … however @oriskany & co have done such a great job at making modern warfare interesting that I want to see how deep down that particular rabbit hole I can go (time and space permitting).

Did I mention that the recent Historicon coverage has put WW1 Skirmish on my roadmap of doom too ?

@sundancer – does your employer know they abolished slavery a few years ago? For a small fee I can have a quiet word with them…take them for a ride up the piggory.
