@unclejimmy trust me, when dealing with referee and reviewers for grants, papers etc you learnt to be tactful in telling them they are full of crap 😉

It’s not GenCon proper I will be at, but running demos at the GenCon pop up event in the UK https://www.facebook.com/events/834695036903113/

@sundancer – are you the person responsible for the thing that uploads the images? If you are then you rule. It is so much easier than it used to be. IT is not my thing. I am very interested and I have learned a few things for modding games, but that is about as complicated as I can go. I bought my first PC just so I had something decent to use for writing stuff. That was beards ago…1994.

Well, if you are passing anytime just drop in I am hardly ever out and when I am it is usually just walking the Puggos. Obviously, let me know or you will not know where to go. I can see Durham Cathedral from my bedroom window. As for Edinburgh, it is a bit too touristy for me. I go to the festival to see Jerry do a show (usually for my dads birthday) and to go to the model shop, but Edinburgh is not for me. Great cemeteries and where my children saw their first gay men doing oral sex.

If you get up the west coast I might be up there. I have been staying up there quite a bit for the peace and quiet. I am just up the road on the banks of Loch Fyne. Up there I have a table set-up for modern Force-on-Force games, but don’t tell the missus! My dad also has a stash of “whiskey” from his uncle on the Shetlands. Great for cleaning the enamel bath and getting paint from metal minis, but not for drinking. However, it takes all sorts. I did consider setting-up some kind of gaming up there, but never got around to it. It was something I thought about while I was stuck in hospital for a month.

Thin Lizzy rule. I think the their double live album is one of the very best live albums ever recorded. One of my dads favourite albums too. When he met my mother I was 9 and he had an 8-track in his car. It was there I discovered Bowie, Thin Lizzy, Scorpions, Skynyrd, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Monty Python. My mother was not keen on me listening to that, but my dad would let some of us sit in the car, when it was on the drive, and listen to it. Billy Connelly too, but only if my mother was out. Take no chances.

@unclejimmy I’ve read the FoF articles that were posted on OTT when it was called to BoW so I get the appeal of it.
And as I’ve said I’ve got far too many things I’m interested in doing already.
A short list of the stuff that’s in my backlog :

    • Blood&Plunder (I got in both kickstarters and will have ‘Oak&Iron’ too)
    • Flames of War : DAK army (BoW bootcamp)
    • Team Yankee (I so want to do a Dutch army)
    • Bolt-Action : DAK (BoW bootcamp)
    • 40k/Killteam Orks / Eldar / Spacemarines
    • Age of Sigmar Gloomspite Grotz aka my minions
    • Dropfleet commander
    • Rumbleslam (fantasy wrestling)
    • Carnevale
    • Time of legends :Joan of Arc (kickstarter, 15mm fantasy/historical)
    • Infinity
    • Core space
    • Mythic Battles:Pantheon

    There’s a reason I refer to it as a mountain of plastic/metal/resin 😀
It’s why I’ve got a backlog for my backlog which is why I’m trying to not to add to the pile of shiny if I can find even a tiny reason to not do so. Ignoring systems that are either out-of-print or not available at local retail is the only thing that kind of works.

I love every single setting too much to want to focus on any single theme/setting.  If I ever win the lottery or something I’ve got plenty of things to do.

…and we are close! A bit later, but I was chatting with @sundancer! A massive thanks to all of you for your time and for your patience when we got invaded by some dicks. As nobody answered my question about next week do I take it that nobody minds if we try my suggestion about making this once great thing big again? Well, @oriskany and that new guy have mentioned it, but no one else did.

This unoffical “weekender” is yours, I just have nothing better to do with my time, but you have to play your part too.

I did find time to try the hairspray thing…

    IMG_20190731_210841_HDR

This is the test piece. It was roughly painted with Vallejo gunmetal that was not thinned too much. Then I brushed some bits with a mix of dark grey and orange and washed the corners and detail. Sprayed it with some matt varnish (£1.50 for a massive can from my local harware shop). Works great too. No frosting. Then some hairspray.

As it is just a small box/crate I just sponged on some Wacoshop Macharius Orange and then noticed the thing was stuck to my leg. Knackers.

    IMG_20190731_211212_HDR

I blame the strokes. My left hand is to blame as I couldn’t feel where there piece was!

    IMG_20190731_211231_HDR

That is speed tried with a heat gun. It sometimes gives you a blistering effect if you go just a bit too close. I don’t think this would work on plastic kits! Now to get the cotton-bugs out and get rubbing…not jokes either.

The results will have to wait. I have been sent a very nice bottle of Port and I am going to try a wee drop. If you have been and go before I return then sleep tight.

If you would like a night time rhyme from the western isles of Scotia then try this:

    “Time for bed, sleepyhead.

Let us wait a while, said Joe.

Well drink a pot says Gobblegot, let’s sup ‘afore we go.”

I have never shared that with anyone before. My dads Aunt Mimer told it to me when I was 11.

    I love feedback! It’s an autistic thing…

I first heard this song at the end of an episode of the Walking Dead.

@limburger – I didn’t mean to press ‘submit’. Must be the Port! It is very warming and it doesn’t taste very strong at all. I have had 3 and I don’t drink.

Why isn’t Infinity at the top? Must be the heat! It is warm, but raining here all week. I have my Puggies tomorrow and friday so at least we might get out for some Pugging.

    What is ‘Core Space’?

You really go for it with your gaming. Do you belong to a club/group where you get into all of these? We have no plans for anything new…maybe some DZC (as we already have it, but never played it), but I can’t think of anything else I fancy trying. I have some Force-on-Force games planned once I finish the new buildings. Aussie SASR and some Royal Marines from 45 Commando out doing the rounds in Iraqistan. Masha Allah, brother.

I want a few pieces like this.

@unclejimmy ‘Core space’ was a recent kickstarter. It could be described as a ‘Firefly’ skirmish game without the license and with robot zombies instead of reavers(sp?).

And like in ‘Walking dead’ you’re not just trying to complete an objective against an enemy team there’s also the presence of a 3rd force (the zombie/robot things)

    link to the kickstarter :

As for Infinity … that list was not in any particular order.
I do have to say that me and metal minis don’t get along. I spent hours trying to glue the fragile metal bits, which sucks because I do like the background and models. I really wish Corvus Belli would switch to plastic because of it.

Thanks for hosting yet another great weekender. It’s like the good ol’ days again 😀

Currently tracking at least one kickstarter (Zombicide:Invaders) and another mystery (something Mythic games, could be Joan of Arc wave 2).

Finished off last night as it had been lurking unfinished for months due to buying a house/moving house/job hunting

Kingdom Death: Monster – Lion Knight.

@elessar2590 – do you mean tomorrow? As I mentioned before I am quite happy for someone to take over totally and I will go form an alternative version, but something needs to be done to get this running at full strength!

    Nice for someone to reply.

@limburger – my dad loves Firefly…i’ll send him a link! Am I wrong or is Firefly just like a sci-fi western?

Do you have big meaty hands? This is the problem Dave has with some Infinity minis. However, my little girly hands are perfect. The newer sculpts are not like any more. They tend to have less fiddly bits! Everyone should play Infinity.

Thanks, I want to get things back to how they used to be with plenty of people joining in. However, it might not be the most popular idea.

I do like Zombicide. Played it twice and loved it. I saw a copy for sale in a shop for £55 and I wish I had bought it now. What is the new set for or what does it do?

@doctorether – well, as sexist as the base is I love it. Very nice bit of work too. My dad would like that…he is into all the fantasy art and topless figurines. I never buy them for him…for xmas I got him a pair of minis, but it was the two main characters from ‘Hot Fuzz’.

What does it do in the game?

Now to finish of the hairspray experiment…Igor, the switch!

Bill still rules. It still makes me sad to know he is gone. Sometimes life sucks.

    Jim also left here.

We also lost Mark E. Smith. The only band I have been into that I never saw live. I did have a ticket and was stood at the front, but they refused to play as the venue tried to enforce a 2230hrs curfew. No, really. Then I discovered loads of venues are like that now. Where we tend to go in Newcastle, the O2 Arena (or the Mecca Bingo as it used to be) they are like that. I suppose it is so all the kiddies can go and see bands.

    Still a stupid idea.

Almost done. Only varnish is needed for Bossk and Sabine Wren and then I’m ahead of the release curve for Star Wars: Legion again!

@sundancer – that is the bollocks! Really impressive. I am going to take a huge guess, but is he/it a X-Wing pilot?
