I’ve had some assembled FoW minis around for a year and not painted them. Tiny men still on the sprue, but I did magnetise the tanks so I can turn the turrets. Box is in the games room… staring at me… 15mm is daunting.

But there are are dozens of 28mm waiting for paint too. Painted some characters for the One Ring rpg and three of them died a few weeks ago, so had to paint their replacements.

I need something rules light and less lethal for my own mental state.

one more reason to never use minis for rpg’s 😉

@redscope I think it can be a bit intimidating to put things in project, especially when there’s a competition and folk have done some stupendously complex and well executed projects in already.

That part of the competition has made me hesitate as well.
And then I get an idea … only to see someone else do something similar (and better) which brings my motivation to a grinding halt.

Maybe it’s less of a hurdle to post if you think of the project as a documentation for future you instead ?

If the system wasn’t so annoyingly slow that might motivate folk to post more ‘in progress’ updates instead of final results.

I’d advise keeping the project ‘private’ (or ‘for Gerry’s eyes only’ ;)) until you’re confident you got ‘enough’ content to make it public.

    Dang it! Thursday already!

And wouldn’t you know it: I prepared stuff last night for today’s weekly Battletech and I just got cancelled. Grand.

Well, maybe I’ll make it to the Yellow and the Belly.

    But first: more brickwork

    Don’t mention the B-word …. unless it’s Bot War !

There’s a distinct lack of music in this thread.

    Time to fix that

:::looks around::: I’m old, confused and now scared. What’s going on? Who is this person doing the thread? Pundancer, are you dying? I think I must be having an episode. I believe I have a case of the vapors. Where’s my fainting couch?

I truly must be be hallucinating as I just saw a gaming video on squirrels with firearms. Someone help! The madness must end sometime!

I think someone sending him a huge packet that’s not to be opened before Christmas is why @horati0nosebl0wer 😉
Besides there’s no need for him to be the only one making these threads every week.

    Plans for tomorrow are set.
A full day of gaming goodness … if I can last that long.
Need to check my wallet as well, but that’s a minor issue.

I probably will be posting pics in the discord channel during the day if the internet allows.

    Alright, the episode has abatement.

Pledge: Finish up my female hoplites and shipping crate terrain for my nephews this weekend

My favorite scale of mini to work in is 28mm. I can see it clearly and I have enough brush control to make them look passable decent on the tabletop (with a growing push for display quality). 25mm is a comfortable fit as well from nostalgia with my first Ral Partha figs. I think that the quality of most 80s figures using that size is quite forgiving so it works by me.

Having seen @thebelon doing some work on ‘Nam 68 in 20mm I could change it up for purpose as I also picked up the game as a gift for my dad. 15mm is a toss up as there are quite a few companies with WWII armor out there that I could dig into. I also think that the reduction in scale would help in painting the pageantry of volume instead of diving into details.

6mm is a pain in the butt to get detail but Epic can be made to look grand by sheer amount of figures. Thankfully there are no flags for 40k at that scale.

[unofficial weekender] It's all in the background. Or is it?
