I never saw the appeal of Facebook TBH

And I only got into G+ because it was the default ‘community’ on android. On that platform the communties had busy and quiet moments. I’ve seen people try and get into new sites like MeWe ( https://mewe.com )  but I must admit that nothing beats this site when talking about this hobby and all aspects.

However I do have to say that nothing beats small focussed communities such as this one. The best part is that politics and other real life aspects are not discussed here.

The campaign updates from RpgPundit always are fun :

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! It’s good to be back, even if it is a little quieter than before.

I agree on the social media front; it’s just not as in depth as you’d get here. It’s not like i could ask on Facebook for detailed information about how a British Battalion worked in 1940 and get a good response. I also love seeing what other people are coming up with for their minis and armies. I love having that option when I’m stuck wondering what colour this mini should be; I can just browse the forums for ideas and inspiration.

I will try and get some pictures uploaded at some point today; once I can remember how the system works. 😛

@mage it’s an old game that was in the White Dwarf. “Brewhouse Bash” – Orcs fighting in a bar until only one is left standing 😉

But today is May 4th so I went to the club and we played a bit of “Assault on Hoth

So I sent to my flgs today to pick up a primer spray, Red paint, white Dwarf and comics. Just as I reached the shop door it occurred to me that my wallet was in my other coat.

Luckily I’ve been watching McGyver so paid them in tubing, a mobile phone and a paper clip.

So hopefully I will be able to get a start on Hellboy and chums.

    Hello everyone,

Another returnee here, although I doubt I can even claim that title as I only participated briefly in an uncle jimmy weekender just over two years ago. It was just after my first daughter was born and I grossly underestimated how much hobby  time I would have!! So my first foray into joining the community was short lived. I have been avidly watching all the content since then in fits and starts (a weekender usually takes an entire weekend to watch!). My second daughter is only just weeks old now and I am going to try and do a better job of becoming part of the community that warren keeps talking about!

Not sure how much hobby content I will get done anytime soon but I figured by joining in it might give me more incentive to get even a little done!

Was thinking about maybe working on some of the River Horse Labyrinth goblins to get me started again. It was that or try and resurrect a sci fi warband that consists of a bunch of anthropomorphic critters but I wasn’t that taken with the direction I was taking them.

Music that I have been listening to? Some futuristic retro synthwave to inspire my sci fi warband!

@grumpygraeme welcome onboard!  Congrats on the second daughter.  Would be cool to see those goblins.  I also believe this is the first time I have listened to  futuristic retro synthwave.  It has a very 90s video game vibe.

Not much hobby today – built a Devastator squad from some spares n the bits box whilst watching the Weekender this morning, and a Deathwatch Veteran, but mostly just reading – finished Dark Imperium: Plague War,  and  burnt through The Last Colony, 3rd book in John Scalzi’s Old Man’s War series. Man I wish I’d read these sooner. This also takes me to 26 out of 50 books for my Reading Challenge on Goodreads for the year, 10 books ahead of schedule 🙂

@robert thanks! glad to finally take part!

It has a very 90’s coputer game vibe or blade runner. Its either that or hillbilly music for me at the moment (or Disney but that’s not so much MY choice!)

Going to see if I can get some time tomorrow night to get some painting done. I totally agree with the comments about facebook discussions, they really don’t have the depth that some of the ones I have read here have. They can be a WHOLE lot more divisive and just damn nasty/petty too. I sometimes cant believe the type of comments that people leave on some posts!

Although not much hobby time recently I have been managing to get a fair bit of reading done, right into my Sci fi books at the moment.  Not long finished “dogs of war” by Adrian Tchaikovsky, absolutely amazing book about near future genetic engineering. Corporations in the near future have created “bioforms” like BIG dog soldiers and bears etc to do the majority of fighting for them and the book follows a Bioform called Rex and all the crazy stuff that happens to him. Extremely well written and very thought provoking! Whats everyone else reading?

I am sorely tempted by picking up looncurse from the OTT store to get 25% off! Love those squigs and kurnoth hunters!

@dawfydd The old mans war  books are very good! Read them a while ago now, loved the genetically altered humans that float around space and plant bombs on enemy spacecraft! Totally bizarre!!

Checking in for the day before the buttcrack of dawn and off to work. Some music to wake up with and some fish related goodness to relax with and lament I am too mobile to keep a tank.

@grumpygraeme I’m currently trying to read Second Chances by Matthew Ward, which is a novel based on the Frostgrave game and universe. Finding it hard to concentrate on reading at the moment so haven’t got very far.  Nothing mind blowing but it is a nice gentle read, nothing complex or difficult to unravel.

Oh yeah, I did hobby stuff. IMG_1341IMG_1346IMG_1350

I’ve started a terrain project on the site if you want to know more…
