    Hello all,

I am looking for some advice, my little girl is 4 going 14 and has recently gotten into board games. So far it is only your standard ludo or other similar game however I have a 9 hour flight coming up soon with her and was wondering about expanding her interests (I’ll make a gamer out of her one way or another!) It just so happens she’s a big fan of my little pony and her favourite way of playing is making up stories.

Anyway I was wondering if any of you have played the game and had any idea if it would be suitable for her, or are there any simplifications you’ve made which might help her understand/stay interested. I seem to remember @warzan saying he played it with his kids at some point.

    cheers!

My two play this for time to time they really enjoy it as it’s fairly straightforward although attention spans are not the best. There is a starter box which is a choose your own adventure type of game. It’s quite wordy so I would read the plot and they would choose what to do. Allowed them to make decisions without being overwhelmed with options.  Plus the Mane 6 are in it a bit which my daughter loved.

    1. Read some RPG worldbuilding articles, such as for DungeonWorld. Essentially, you ask her questions to flesh out “her story”.

    2. Get Atlas Game’s “Once Upon a Time” or another creative story kits. Add (or make) a set of My Little Pony cards.

    3. Or the Tails of Equestria RPG itself. This reviewer recommends 8+ years, but some with 5+ year old children said they’ll buy it. The rulebook has a lot of art, so the youngster might at least enjoy the pictures. Good luck!
