Just finished assembling the Shadow Collective miniatures which are relatively easy to build.

Odd thing though… everything I read online… and the box itself… says 22 mianitures.

However… there are enough parts to assemble 24 and spares helmets, weapons etc for basing and/or a Janga Fett head if you need one.

that just because they smooshed 3 boxes with an added Darth Maul into one box. Otherwise you’d just have “some spare bits”

The individual boxes say unit of 6 plus a leader for Pykes and Black Sun plus 6 Mandolorian Super Commandos.

Rook Cast and Maul are on a separate sprue.

But if the same sprues are in the individuals boxes as are in the Shadow Collective, then you can make 7+1 for the Pykes and 7+1 Black Sun. Just the 6 Mandolorians.

Not sure if you can field units of that size, but nice to have the spare figures in case of breakages… and I’m going to use them in my Star Wars RPG anyway, so more grunts always good.

Really need to finish painting the Legion Core set, the Mandolorians box I have and few others I picked up.

That’s a modern mantra if I ever heard one. “really should finish this” XD

    finishing things ?

    what madness is this ?

we’re only supposed to start stuff … and then get miffed ’cause the additional bits we want aren’t in stock at all.

I’m so glad they haven’t announced an Asohka themed battle box … or a box without organics

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised to discover the same thing. I thought I would have to decide on which of the three of the four available upgrades I would build, both for Pyke and Black Suns, but you can build a unit with all the options, plus the Capo/Vego.

also with the Mando’s, I didn’t realise the named unit upgrade would be a separate model so 7 Mando’s rather than 6!

Doesn’t it feel weird to be pleasantly surprised by something you bought?

Bit like when they give you too much change in a shop and you don’t notice until later.

Just checking – am I alone in thinking the lack of physical copies of the rules for the Shadow Collective and the build guides is a bit of a cheap move? I know they are available online, but that it’s a layer of obstruction that could probably have been avoided.

Having said that, I quite enjoyed building Maul, Rook, Saxon and the Super-Commandos. I’m looking forward to seeing what mix & matching can be done with the Clan Wren set. Somewhat disappointing that it does not appear that you can do an all-Mando force, but perhaps that might be something they use Din Djarin to explore….

No you’re not. And it’s not like there is so much text to translate on these things. Well, AMG is cutting cost and has the option to correct instructions if they are wrong. Also one less item to wait on to pack boxes. We’ll see how it turns out.

build instructions are just the reverse order of actions used to cut the mini into pieces …

technically they should have all the data alread, but then these are not guys that build model kits for a living 😉

Seriously … the one thing that Legion really needs to fix *is* the build instructions.
I don’t care for anyone claiming that building minis is easy (how many parts to that B1 battle droid head ?)
GW is the benchmark for this type of thing.
A wall of text in a list is not a build instruction.

Doing that on-line is even more ridiculous.
I’m in this hobby *because* I can avoid computers while doing it.

    /rant

btw : unit boxes that build multiple variants are nothing new when building things for a certain other game 😉
I’m kind of surprised that Legion didn’t have that option, but then I realised that most units are single purpose anyway and the only changes tend to be the addition of a specialist or two.

I’ll take more minis over more paper. Definitely feel up on this one.
