Detailed reply to come, but for now …
Ops Center Episode 09 is live!
I don’t care WHO you are back in the world … it’s time to go IN COUNTRY!
😀 😀 😀
August 3, 2019 at 8:13 pm #1421399The Policeman said, “I need a statement…” and I replied, “All Coppers are bastards!” Heather knows this woman with A.C.A.B. on her knuckles.
@oriskany – so just taking it easy again. However, it seems like you are planning a picnic out into the Velt. Joke: What is black & brown hand hangs around Nelson Mandelas neck? A Rhodesian Police Rottwieler. 100pts.
I always fancied the FoF book, but missed it. Roy, my original Kenjutsu teacher served out there in the 70’s. Getting ‘blacked-up’ so they would blend in from a distance and shooting mercaneries for the SA government…the good old days!
Wow, a scenario just for me. Awesome. 100pts.
I love your star chart. It reminds me of the ‘radar’ from Elite.
Did you get robbed by sarcastic burglers? I would have thought the Marine training would be at work here.
If Heather saw anything like that lurking about in the garden she would lay a cable. Especially snakes.
@irredeemable – mushi, mushi! Well, it is great to see you. This is only my second weekend in over two years! I hope you have been well?
1. Beyonce. You are beyond help. Stay where you are the authorities are on the way. That is hardcore. Do you use it to scare small children and birds?
2. The stupidity of the general public is to be applauded.
3. So, they all think you are a child-eating serial killer? Been there. I find that it can be alluring the the wrong people!
4. Once! You lot really let me down here. I expected Keats and marillion lyrics, but not a dodder. I wrote to Heather almost every day when I was away as was popular before mobile phones. How are they “mobile”? I even quoted Gary Numan and got a kiss! Am I the only romantic left or are you just too tough to tell me?
Here is another question: how do you pick-up a woman? Who said, ‘drunk’?
As for your pledge…very tasty looking Ultramarine! 100pts. Very sinister looking.
Airbrushing rules. Eve and Jamie got me a portable spray booth for Father’s day. Awesome stuff. Well, keep us up-to-date. 100pts.
That ‘Riddler’ mini is outstanding. I would have liked the TV version – the Joker too. I look forward to seeing some colour on that! 50pts.
Riddle me this: what is brown and like a doorbell? Dung!
Hold the doors…do I spy a mould line on the skull at the top of the staff? The ultimate crime. Even face-on that is still really sinister. The whole squad together is fantastic. A work of art! 500pts.
What do I spy…”I also promised a friend I’d learn the rules of a boardgame she bought and teach her how to play.” She? Tell her: “If wishes were little fishes then she woul dbe a fishermans dream.” Don’t name it after me!
All of TTCombats’ stuff is awsome. I have been making some of their vending machines.
The boxes turned out pretty good. Hairspray chipping technique that I promised Dave I would try. Thanks. I am trying to build two garages for Infinity. A bit drawn-out compared to what I usually do, but I will experiment with it.
Discovery #1 – if you are doing it on MDF terrain than spray more varnish and hairspray! Igor, the switch…
Most of it doesn’t need undercoating. Varnish is better. That is what I use and I never had a problem. Either that or you could block those bits off with some Blu-Tac.
DSotM – what can I say. 100pts. I have been playing ‘War of the Worlds'(part 2).
Stay away from the dip or you’ll get crab pickers fingers!
August 3, 2019 at 8:16 pm #1421400Now that I am caught up I can play for a while. What to do first?
I wanted to show @cpauls1 my Tankhunters, but he seems to be blocked. Well, here they are…
The big thing is an Autocannon. Very nasty in Infinity where there are no tanks! However, Jamie will avoid his LoS like the plague.
August 3, 2019 at 9:36 pm #1421446Well, I did some more basecoats. This guy rules…
Another coat and then some ink!
August 3, 2019 at 9:40 pm #1421447Mooziks for my loyal followers:
(just for @cpauls1)
August 3, 2019 at 9:46 pm #1421455Almost 13 years ago I was standing right there. What a birthday…Bauhaus and the next day a private tour of Highgate Cemetery. What were you doing then if you can remember?
Eve meeting Miffy the Rabbit. She would die if she knew I posted that.
August 3, 2019 at 9:54 pm #142146613 years ago? Oh I remember. That was exactly the time I got unemployed for 3 years… shittiest time of my life.
August 3, 2019 at 10:04 pm #1421475@sundance – that must have really sucked dead dogs balls. How did you manage? It was a bit rough when I was a student, but at least I was getting work. Nevermind, it is all supposed to be character building. We were so poor when we got married that I once had to take two toilet rolls from the doctors loo as we had run out and had no cash.
Ink is drying and I have had another Port.
Then repeat.
August 3, 2019 at 10:07 pm #1421477I have had that mini since the day it was released and I just noticed his combat light!
August 3, 2019 at 11:55 pm #1421492Sleep tight everyone. I might be about during the night as I have Biblical cramps.
Only bikers know why dogs are so happy when they lean out of the window!
August 4, 2019 at 5:22 am #1421547Hey guys … crazy weekend … but let me try to catch up on the thread.
@irredeemable – that Deathwing dude looks awesome! Man, I always terrific respect for anyone who paints anything in white and actually pulls it off. Looks great!
The maps I draw are “hand-drawn” but in Photoshop – WACOM pad, etc. I don’t use a map editor. As you say, they aren’t that great.
Here’s an example from when I ran a 25-hour game recreating the entire American landing at Omaha Beach.
@unclejimmy – So we were the greasy guys looking at porn at the back of the room? That’s cool. I had that coming. 😀 So you’ve got some USMC in your blood? Awesome. I knew there was something cool about you!
Yeah, those Rhodesian counters were part of @elessar2590 ‘s project. He actually started a project thread where he was working on his own Valor & Victory counters for this modern conflict (I’ve been generating my own expansions for V&V WW2 into more modern conflicts, we’ve done Vietnam, Falklands, and Lebanon so far). Elessar took a stab at Rhodesia. So I thought I would pitch in and help him out while also covering @stvitusdancern ‘s “Present Arms” night on Sitreo Twitch stream.
Yeah, you mentioned you’d be interested in playing Arab-Israeli Wars on one of our “Oriskany Weekend Wargame” sessions. I felt bad that we couldn’t fit you in this weekend, so you are at the top of the list for nest weekend if you still want to take a swing at it! Let me know if you have a preference in factions of 1956, 67, or 73 wars (hell, we could even take a swing at 82 if you want to start with some advanced expansion rules).
Nope, not robbed. But attacked by the “GET THAT SH*T CLEAN” bug. Just thinking about hobby was getting depressing. Now I can actually look forward to getting some work done.
Oh, you get used to the reptiles here in the subtropics. In fact, you learn to appreciate them. They’re very clean (don’t shit all over the place), they’re not aggressive, and they really help keep the bugs under control, which are the real plague here in South Florida. Well, that and New Yorkers. 😀 😀 😀
I think @cpauls1 has been trying to get in touch with you. There may be confusion about your current e-mail address? If you’re in touch with him, ignore this.
Holy hell, those Infinity minis! The guy that looks like he’s carrying a modified sci-fi version of an M240 / L7 / FN MAG / whatever-the-hell-ya-wanna-call it is reasonable enough, the guy that’s carrying what looks like a sci-fi Steyr AUG is reasonable … but what’s up with my man carrying a freakin’ 20mm autocannon on his shoulder? I would say that looks vaguely like a M2HB .50 but that’s even bigger than the Ma Deuce! I love how the figure is posed, I can almost hear him grunt … “Yo, buddy! You wanna grab the other end of this friggin’ thing?”
I love the guy with the bush hat. Very LRRP. 😀
13 years ago? 2006? Yeah, I was neck-deep in a very serious Werewolf: The Apocalypse chronicle, I used to be a big RPG guy. That chronicle went for 11 years before all was said and done (1997-2008). Now I just can’t be bothered. The drama involved in keeping a group together just so they can crap out on you … very mature.
August 4, 2019 at 5:27 am #1421548Pledge update: 60%. Three items down, two items to go.
Darkstar Game drawn up.
Podcast recorded and broadcast live.
Darkstar game run. Man, what a game. My mad Russians! 😀
Remaining items:
Panzer Leader Poland map to draw
Run / Twitch Stream Panzer Leader: 1939 demo game tomorrow with @yavasa .
August 4, 2019 at 10:39 am #1421607@unclejimmy I wouldn’t call it “manage” … I went to see a doctor at times and tried to stay afloat. Seemed to have worked. Although there were time with rather dark and very “final” thoughts. But all is good now, or at least better 😉
August 4, 2019 at 10:53 am #1421611@sundancer – so glad to hear that!
@oriskany – 1973-74 is good for me. It’s the bit I know most about. However, doing something in 1982 would be very cool too. Don’t worry that I ‘voted’ too late i’ll be quicker next time.
August 4, 2019 at 4:15 pm #1421695Looks like my time out is over, but only under this handle. Lots to go through… probably won’t happen till tomorrow, although I have been following along.
I needed a break from battle boards and the accompanying units for the first store ruck, and wanted to do something relatively mindless, as it’s still blazing hot outside. I’ve got two boxes of these stealth suits, and decided to put them together. They will be alien stealth suits in my Traveller world, and I will build them using the Fire, Fusion, and Steel supplement.
Other Traveller stuff: @unclejimmy Here’s a better pic of the recce guys you commented on the other day. These are the dismounted jeep crew. I’ll have matching seated ones that will be magnetized. That way if their jeep gets whacked, they can bail out. The jeep in the background is from Robogear, only $7.00. The driver will have a 7.62 MG sandbagged on the hood, while the passenger will be standing and will have a .50 cal.
The crew load out is quite deadly. The guy on the left is carrying the 7.62 MG from the jeep, and probably a few grenades, while his #2 has a smaller weapon, a SMIG with an underslung grenade launcher, and an M72 type weapon made from plasticard and a length of sprue. Here’s a view of the back of the #2, with extra SMG mags, a medical kit, binos, etc.
The last fantasy unit I finished, a command group for the store Battlesystem:
I’ve also been working on PC’s for the game. Here’s a barbarian PC, and on the bad guy side I have a rock troll:
Pledge: continue to build stealth suits. Lame I know, but my time will be limited until Monday.
1. What music do I secretly listen to?
2. Good comeback? No, usually just a flurry of profanity and insults. When teaching basic and junior leader courses I often used the insult “Thirty million sperm and you were the fastest” to good effect.
3. Toy soldiers? I tell people I play wargames. if I say I play AD&D I get the stink eye and they back away slowly. Could be the mace in my hand.
4. Love letters? Not my style. Gifts work better. 🙂
Back for more later. @oriskany you were right about the anime convention. Pic to follow!
We’re off berry picking.
