oh I know … multi-purpose minis are always nice.

I think your lack of enthusiasm is colouring your view of the game though.
Can’t blame you for not feeling it, because it’s been a depressing year and so things may feel a bit negative than normal.

And as for the neoprene mat … I think a tablecloth would be worse. A mat at least stays flat on the table, which can be useful.
It never looked like it would be an essential purchase for the game TBH

I’ll read the rules over the next couple of days and play it on the weekend.  Not because I want to but because I feel I have to.

This has been a really interesting thread, thanks @horus500 for starting it. I like seeing people discuss how they think about things like KS. Sadly most of my friends fall into one of two groups – never buy anything on KS or throw a large amount of money at a KS and then largely forget about it/actually use the stuff when it comes in. I stopped backing mini games on KS a while back largely because I’m not a fan of the companies that use it as a crutch to push something out slowly and then never support the game at retail. There are certain names that if I see them attached to a game (CMON, Modiphius in particular come to mind) I immediately back track.

For a while I used it for RPGs but again delays and end product quality put me off. Or complete lack of support beyond the KS, that kills games. There is one line in particular that have made large amounts of money over the years and without ceremony have seem to have abandoned it for a 5e OGL line instead. My KS spending nowadays is limited to board games (without miniatures) that are usually doing a second edition/print run and have a string of great reviews (Champion of the Wild, Don’t Get Got and Gloom of Kilforth being the most recent ones).
