    A comment on your last couple podcasts. In the one from a couple weeks ago I stopped listening about 3 minutes in as Gee’s microphone was making it far too irritating to carry on. Either he is yelling all the time or the mic is getting feedback from somewhere (is he yelling and too close?). I just started listening to the most recent (today’s?) podcast and he is still distorted but a lot less. I never noticed it on your previous podcasts and even tried your ‘cast on Podbean as opposed to Youtube (my usual source) as in the past issues were cleaned up there on later reposts of ‘casts. Thank you for the wonderful podcasts, when I can stand the distortion.

    @madman1960 thank you for your comments. I discovered this post if you go 30 minutes into the podcast the levels normalize. We are in the process of upgrading equipment that will prevent this in the future. I will be uploading to Podbean yesterdays (Episode 4) and it will be cleaned up.

    Great. I like the series but whatever it was on that episode drove me crazy. Since it just happened there I assume it was the result of some “upgrade”. Thank you very much.

    February 19, 2020 marks the 75th Anniversary of the opening of the Battle for Iwo Jima. Fought primarily between the US Marine Corps and the Imperial Japanese Army, this was one of the most ferocious battles in the Pacific Theater of World War II, and a touchstone moment in the history of the US Marine Corps.

    We look at what made this battle so intense, what factors led to its conduct and outcome, and some key features you’d want to bring to an Iwo Jima-themed gaming table, no matter what kind of system, command level, or gaming medium you enjoy.

    Loving the podcasts. I especially like everyone talking about where they’re going to get this and that from meanwhile Jim’s just being an old school Warhammer Fantasy Longbeard Dwarf.

    *Grumble* games with miniatures *grumble* make an army in five minutes *grumble* shoulda stayed in the 80s when everything was done right *grumble*

    Keep the content coming guys.

    @stvitusdancern I left a comment on the video about taking a look at your Egyptian Remington if you’re willing to send me some pics. I’d be interested to see if we can put together some kind of rough history of the gun. The Sudan and Egypt in the late Victorian era is my second favorite Historical period and those easy to use Remingtons were pretty useful to the average illiterate peasant Jihadi.

    Oh man, @elessar2590 – I hope I don’t sound too much like a grouch.  😐  Call it “color commentary!”  😀 😀 😀

    Just a small comment on the Iwo Jima 75th anniversary: Some of the photos in the podcast are from the film “Flags Of Our Fathers”, which is quite good. There are two other films and series covering the Pacufic theatre in WW II that I want to recommend: The first is “Letters From Iwo Jima”. It shows the events from the Japanese perspective and they have Ken Watanabe as famous Japanese commanding general on Iwo Jima, Kuribayashi. The second is the series “The Pacific” by HBO. This deals also with the battles of Guadalcanal, Tarawa and Okinawa in addition to Iwo Jima. In this series the brutality of the fighting is depicted in a very drastic way. However, there is much to learn, and we meet people like John Basilone, who is a famous American war hero, who in fact was killed on Iwo Jima.

    All of the films inspire me for all kinds of scenarios and table settings for my games in the Pacific: Bunker clearance, tight gorges defended by Japanese MG Teams, dug-in Japanese tanks and much more.

    Lest I forget, thanks @oriskany, another good one here and I truly miss your written content. My reading comprehension is still better than my listening comprehension.

    @jemmy ~

    Thanks so very much for the kind words.

    Yes, images in that video were borrowed from Flags of our Fathers – but we also had one from Letters from Iwo Jima.  (both movies are credited in the slides and in our credits at the end of the video).  Both movies were made practically at the same time, showing the fateful battle from both American and Japanese perspectives.

    The HBO series The Pacific is also very good, and has a short Iwo Jima sequence with GySgt John Basilone.  Honestly, I feel The Pacific is even better than it’s “sister series” Band of Brothers, but of course I may be biased. 😀

    Meanwhile, you mention written material and reading comprehension.  To that end, I’ve posted an expanded transcript of this video episode in the project thread, linked below.  Check it out and be sure to leave some +1 recommendations on the project if you like it!

    Great work Beccas!

    Has anyone seen this before. I just came across it today. Looks interesting but I don’t read French. I suppose you could use google translate but I wonder if this is just scenarios for a specific system or generic. Also what scale. Translating the site says using 15 figures. I didn’t catch if that is per side or in total.

    Helps if I actually post the link;

    Hello Guys,

    First sorry to @oriskany for the delay in joining the thread. Kinda didn’t start modern stuff until well a couple months ago and when I started I was more in a “I wanna get it done to my standard” rather than advertising it too much.

    So I wanted to get all my Team Yankee Armies to 100pts (British, West Germans, USSR and Americans).

    I just finished the USSR today and will finish the US protatype M103 in the coming days.

    You can find the project here : https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1469833/

    But I will not be evil and I will give the armies shot of the 3 completed armies in the thread 😉

    I have a few other ideas for some modern stuff in the next few months and I will keep you posted 🙂

    I am hoping you guys still visit or are made aware of posts here.

    Just listened to today’s podcast and am very pumped about the game (weekend?) you are planning. Where, other than facemess can we follow along about this and sign up? I tried to get on FB once and was thrown off after a few weeks as I didn’t give them my cell phone number. No way to contact anyone and tell them I don’t have one. Since I never got the “message” on how to keep them and all their minions and advertisers free access to me I was dumped.

    Also since this was originally an ultra modern podcast I really hope you will run some ultra modern skirmish games like Spectre Ops, Black Ops and Skirmish Sangin. I would be willing to run a game or two. If I come I will probably drive and should be able to pack along enough for a micro armour game of Hind & Seek.

    Thanks for re-awakening this thread, @madman1960.

    Yeah, I have the same issues with Facebook.  I won’t touch it.  Others on the team, however, keep it up to date.

    We can keep this thread going with updates, if that’s more convenient for the OTT crowd!

    We also have YouTube and our own Discord if you’d be interested.

    Man, @wolfch – those are EPIC Team Yankee armies.  I wish I had seen them earlier.

    And hey, nothing wrong with promoting your project on a forum thread, I’m headed there right now.  Again, I just wish I had seen them sooner.
