I’ve been going through the rules of Age of Magic and most units have an option for ranged weapons for which they use their ranged aggression stat. However, creatures have a ranged aggression stat, but do not have ranged weapons or weapon options. How do I use them, do they just have a ranged attack by default?

Monsters like the Scourge has a ranged aggression stat and the Breath special rule which kind of explains why it has that. Other monsters have 0 ranged aggression.

I’m assuming that Warlords on a beast and such do need a ranged weapon for their ranged attacks.

Some help with this would be highly appreciated.

yes you need a weapon or form of attack to take advantage of the shooting aggression.

The Creatures have none but battle board abilities and magic can sometimes also effect this. However in this instance I believe it more likely that they are future proofing it for up coming releases. I expect war elephants to feature which may use the creature rules, time will tell.

If anything else comes up I shall let you know.
