    p.s., never ask about the “Mr. Kong!” competition. You really wouldn’t like it, but it would make an awesome game. You wouldn’t imagine such a meathead could paint like DaVinci.

    I have played in a couple of LARPs, of the Nordic style. My first ever LARP was at World of Darkness: Berlin. The event, “Enlightenment in Blood” was a pervasive LARP, taking place at numerous locations about a part of Berlin, and we could move between, in character.

    I’ll try this again…

    Six-hour marathon last night on the last two flat battle boards. I got a drybrush down on the cobbles, put down different coloured washes to vary the stones, and gave the works a tan highlight. I put down flock in and around the cobbles, and will finish them at the store after work.

    @oriskany It’s not that I’m building a lot of boards. The problem is, I’m having trouble getting motivated to finish them. As I explained to @unclejimmy , all the terrain I’ve donated to the store to date has been trashed or stolen, so I don’t want this latest stuff to suffer the same fate.

    I’m almost done. The two river boards are complete:

    IMG_0637 (2)

    I’ve finished four of six flat boards (the other two will be done today). I’ll post pics tomorrow. That leaves four geomorphic slope boards that are built, but need to be painted and flocked.

    All the scatter terrain is done: four hills, four copses, six trees

    Also, it’s harvest and berry picking season, and I work all day, and have an hour of commute time both ways, so I’m spread pretty thin… and the honey whiskey won’t make itself!

    @unclejimmy Those Domaru are amazing sculpts. Infinity models are hands down the best sci-fi mini’s out there! As I mentioned, my LGS stocks them now, and it just so happens that I’m being compensated for teaching at a SAGE Teacher’s conference with gift certificates for the store! I’ll be looking at Ariadna models for Traveller PC’s. I’ll need a few female ones as well.

    Funny how there was an outcry about pin-up girls, but rather than just put more appropriate clothing on the models, some companies started making them dumpy and androgynous. The girls in our game group want sexy characters, just like guys want beefy ones. They just need to look capable. I know Infinity makes some knockout female characters. I’ll likely get some Hasslefree ones as well. Top choices for PC’s thus far:

    HFSF202%20Lt.%20Thoran%20composite

    HFSF208%20Cpt.%20Nee%20Sun

    My current pick for a genius programmer/hacker NPC. She’ll be the ‘package’ that needs to be delivered to a rogue terraformer. A total princess/bitch. Should be fun. Appropriate dress for a desert world, don’t you think?

    A199%20Kaela%20Yu%20green%20composite

    Nine votes? Doesn’t surprise me. There always seems to be a passive aggressive crowd lurking in the background on this forum, waiting for an opportunity to support some frothing attack post. I don’t understand why people just don’t find a different forum that is more suited to their beliefs/interests if they’re not happy here.

    @mecha82 A shame there’s a pond between us. Our house has become overcrowded since we had kittens, and we have a little four-month-old sweetie named Scipio that will need a new home. His mom is trying to drive him away now that he’s older.

    @tuffyears Don’t feel bad. I’ve lost entire painted armies. If you saw my garage you’d understand. 🙂

    @ceppie – you got it up before I did! I just woke-up and saw the email. Sorry.

    Six-hours…you could have done a real street in that time. I hope they appreciate you and shower you with gifts.

    Infinity does loads of female sculpts. I totally agree with them being the best sci-fi minis around. I just love them. I went down to see Dave one night and he told me to put the computer on and check out these minis. The game is called Infinity. Never heard of it and this was about half-way through 2nd edition.

    I didn’t browse as Dave uses some weird browser, but I just looked on the Wayland Games site. He had mentioned Aleph so I looked…not bad, but not really for me. Next on the list was Arianda and the first listing I saw was for ‘The Galwegians’. Clicked and that was all I needed. I shouted up to Dave that I didn’t care what the game was like, but i’m ordering these when I get home!

    What is the name of the game store you use?

    Hasslefree mini also rule. 500pts. I have a few of them kicking about. I have even bought my dad a few as presents. I do like the young lady pointing the rifle upwards. They have some amazing sculpts if anyone hasn’t every tried them out. I am not sure that is a good outfit for the desert as it will easily let sand get up your chuff.

    @doctorether – I met two goth girls in a comic shop when I was living in Sheffield. They used to do “live roleplaying” in the big cemetery. I didn’t really want anything to do with it, but they were very nice and rather pretty. It was pathetic. Considering that I used to walk around dressed in a cloak and top hat as usual dress these people were beyond shudder inducing.

    I should have known better!

    You had Berlin as a stage…that sounds too hard to beat.

    @ceppie yes i plan to and have started collecting different bits i want to create into posters, some vintage, some totalitarian style posters (mainly generic) and also i want to use the below on the side of satriales when i get around to making it:

    also nice work there! loving the colour of that closet too!

    @unclejimmy you’re correct pavements do build up the urban scenic areas i plan to buy some more 4ground ones, mainly because they will look like the ones i already own otherwise id prob knock up some myself.

    @unclejimmy this is some of the video content from the event.

    Myself and my co-host of Darker Days Radio were not dressed goth on bit (even though I am by day more of a cybergoth/punk), and instead were in business suits as were were Technocracy agents of the Syndicate convention (so mages who do super science).

    The Badab War is a great piece of the Warhammer 40,000 fiction to be fair. The Forge World books were a fanastic thing to get when they came out all those years ago. The detail they went into and how well they were written was a testimony to the late Alan Bligh’s writing.

    One of my friends painted up her Moria Goblin army recently for Lord of the Rings and wanted to take a break and so some scifi. She seemed on board for some Space Marines and I sent her a link to the Badab War page on Lexicanum to read up on it a bit and pick a Chapter to paint.

    Enjoy the game of hellboy! 😉

    @oriskany

    Nice work on the Western minis. Im super impressed with your browns (I suck major potatoes at painting browns, begorra!)

    @unclejimmy

    I can use your take on this and argue with my opponents that the bikes can fly then since they are appropriately modelled wielding (you heard me!) the bikes.

    Double-heartbeat, hehe, yes, well played. Not too many casual onlookers at 40k would realise Astartes have two hearts. Apparently Guilliman ripped one of his out at one point to prevent death.

    Gyroscopic stuff = gubbinz?

    Thanks! They will all have different pads and helmets mismatched onto a MK7 overall suit. I think…

    @oriskany

    Thank you! I have three more WIP and hope to finish them tomorrow/today. I have a few days off work now. PTE*

    I could make them an Ork hog-wife. I could make it bizzarly attractive with green stuff, grass tufts and something to act as Orkmelonz. Are you into bikes? ‘Cos I have like 8 Chaos ones in Iron Warriors basecoats I could show off.

    *Praise the Emperor.

    @unclejimmy

    Clearly this ‘Dave’** has never missed his Wheetabix.

    **More like ‘Goliath’

    @tuffyears

    Glad you found your stuff!

    No pictures to show off but I will post some tomorrow. Just have to take them. And resist the urge a day before payday (kinda broke) to drive to the less near FLGS and stock up on various primer and lock myself indoors (90% of the time) for the next three days to paint. I will still spray outside.

    I did more work on my Mantis Warrior Bikes, a parcel from Ontabletop’s online store arrived of which I have started reading a novel I ordered, using a paint in it, and assembled most of a Regiment of Ogres converted with Beastclaw Raider parts. I also did some work on my Forgefiend but want to wait until I have a more noticable finish and workload complete before posting up pictures.

    I’m painting with a friend tomorrow in the afternoon and have RPG Night (Coriolis) tomorrow also.

    Complete my Mantis Warriors Chapter biker squad – WIP but almost done

    Try to finish four terrain small sized terrain pieces – Not done

    Get my Forgefiend up to the Wash Stage – Four weapon arms and two heads DONE, main body WIP

    Work on my Charcarodons from the Shadowspear set – Not done

    Continue basecoating my iron warriors – DONE (finished a Biker Squad and will move onto the Terminators (5) and Terminator Lord (1) time permitting)

    I may add more and revise the pledge as I go along. I intened to paint when I finish my night shift shortly before bed, and get up and do some painting again. Flirting with dipping into the savings since I dropped so much money on my son being up, date night and car service/repairs:

    Zandri Dust spray for a Gloomtime Shipwreck my GF bought me last year

    Chaos Black for her Flesheater Courts and my own projects

    Leadbelcher for some Astral Claws (cough Badab War cough @woldenspoons)

    Decisions decisions…

    @unclejimmy did not have a chance to see Fish on his last tour sadly.

    The ministures I have painted for Warmachine & Hordes are mercenaries but depending on the point of view they do work for the good guys 😀

    @oriskany I do believe it’s the airbrush on my part that allows the cloacks to look smooth. Hovewer, thin paint, almost like a glaze consistency is also the trick when it comes to smoothnes by brush.

    @mage thank you 😉

    Hi All!

    Forgot to takes pics of the boards yesterday, but there’s going to be a professional photo shoot on 18 Oct before our first game on the 19th.

    @unclejimmy the store is GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff on Osborne St. in Winnipeg. BIG place, always packed with gamers and shoppers. They have an active Facebook page and a website.

    @sundancer – you would get on with Dave, he loves all that BT stuff!

    @skiptotheend – just keep it until tomorrow and just continue with your pledge then. It seems like everyone has had problems with OTT this week, but they did tell everyone there was a problem with Spam.

    I used to worry about uniformity with buildings/roads/paths etc, etc, but just go and look at real ones and you will just see how ‘patchwork’ the real world is. That makes it a pain to model!

    @doctorether – very tasty indeed. ‘Goth’ isn’t what it was when I was one. It was about the music then. However, ones does like a day out a Whitby Goth week!

    @mage – why the massive spaces?

    Remember, I was there when all this 40K stuff started! I read EVERYTHING. In one of the novels where they find some old Titans, the main character gets shot through the heart. It was so well written that I forgot the fact and had that ‘instant of panic’. Not very common in modern literature or cinema anymore.

    Gubbinz is good enough for me…I rode a bike for years, but I couldn’t fix one! When I was 16(ish) my friend Nic had a motorcross bike, but it was a mess. This will sound made-up, but he used to have a horse’s jawbone tucked into the seat and he would use to the hit the bike when it wouldn’t start. I told you I came from a village in the woods.

    You wouldn’t believe the stuff he eats when he is on a dieting cycle. He knows all the science too. He had 3000 calorie meals that might be all protein. He will go to the Chinese take-away and get rice for 1, but chicken for 3 – no sauce.

    In bed by 2100hrs and gets up at 0530hrs so he can do 60 minutes of cardio exercise before work. However, the first time I watched him train I was quite surprised. I thought he would be in his gym for hours, but he only does 30-45 minutes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

    When he used to compete (and take steroids) twenty years ago, before competitions he would starve himself to look more ripped. For the three days before a competition he would drink almost no water to get the skin stretched! Nuts. Dave would come off the stage after the competition and drink 5 litres of Orange juice then go and eat 3 pizzas. Good job I didn’t know him then.

    RPG night? What kind of role-playing…is it the Panzer commander and the milk-maid is it?

    You need a smaller pledge and a girlfriend.

    @yavasa – we went to the ‘Clutching at Straws’ tour and were at the front, but I really dragged myself to see the last tour. I spent a week in bed, but it was worth it! He brought out his barstool to perform Sugar Mice. I love to hear Fish sing that song, but the guitarist doesn’t quite make the cut. He was spectacular.

    I see you are also a user of very thin paint. I am getting there.

    @ceppie – I just had a look. Pretty front and it seems well established too.
