    As to your questions @unclejimmy:

    1. Can’t speak to big bunches of keys, but I assume most folks with their lanyards on just haven’t taken them off after leaving work/ put them on as they are getting ready so as not to forget. People using vapes
    2. I had a whole rant about triggering I’ve deleted in the interests of keeping discourse cordial as it would have likely offended some folks. Speaking personally I get “triggered” seeing those intrusted with the governance of our nations ignore all evidence and proceeding with courses of action that do nothing but line the wallets of themselves & their friends over the good of the country/planet….
    3. Speaking of, yes climate change is real. If the last 6 months (hell, the last six DAYS) haven’t provided evidence of that I don’t know what will. And I come from a background of having studied the rise and fall of civilizations and how changes in weather and climate have impacted on these. The  problem is that we are fighting against decades of vested interests playing down the impacts we are having on the world to the point we are at a dangerous tipping point. And stepping back from that point is going ot be difficult as so many of the loudest voices are those arguing against the realities of what is happening. Oh, and whatever your thoughts about Greta Grundberg she deserves our respect for speaking uncomfortable truths to those in power, with the reactions of so, so many old, rich (often white) men and the levels they have stooped to in attacking a 16 year old girl (and they are attacks) being so abhorrent they should feel ashamed of themselves.

Sorry, I get a bit passionate about things at the moment….

    Hi All!

Believe it or not, I spent five hours over the last two days trying to stick some plasticard edging on the sides of these two boards. It’s really fiddly work. I then sprayed some touch-ups on the plasticard, and painted the edge, which is white where it was cut (wasted too much spray paint cutting it up and then spraying it).

    IMG_0808 (2)

I put a wash on the old cobble, but it’s been humid and rainy the whole day and it still hasn’t dried. All I have left to do is drybrush the cobble and flock the works. I’ll likely deliver the boards to my LGS on Wednesday. After this I have the four slope boards to edge and flock. They’re already built.

I’ve really lost my drive for this project, as I recently took stock of all the terrain I’ve donated to the store to date. It’s all smashed up, and I’m at a loss as to what to do about it. Seems there’s no respect for the terrain if it’s not theirs, and no one appreciates the work that went into it… sigh. I may float a repair fee to the manager, and perhaps suggest a damage deposit for premium terrain i.e. mine!

The cabinet got four rattle cans of aerosol love. I just need to pick up casters for it, as it’s going over the hatch to our crawl space, and we sometimes need to move it in a hurry when funnel clouds threaten.

    IMG_0806 (2)

@doctorether Some very nice work on those models, and your terrain really shows them off. Any chance of getting a few close-ups?

That Warcry stuff is really different! Looks like a fun paint project.

@robert looks like you’ve got your work cut out for you this weekend, looking at all that German armour! Nurgling too?

@mage good to see on you here.  That’s some nice work on that bike. It looks like it’s seen some field time! Always liked the look of those landspeeders as well, but would prefer to see them with a canopy. Personal preference.

@oriskany Finally picked up a brush! Well, it’s not like you haven’t been doing amazing creative things the whole time. Vi really likes your mini’s. As you know, she’s collecting Old West 28’s from Knuckleduster… among other places. Thanks for the Panzer Leader links. It’s been a weekend full of other things, but I’ll get to them, probably tomorrow.

@unclejimmy do you have a battle report for us? I like the colour you put on those Traktor Muls… one anyone in the military is familiar with!

Art Garfunkel has a porn stache!

I like the chalk on the pool table. Nice touch. Antenocitis makes some awesome stuff. I have some of their resin/metal tanks, and will order more when I can afford them. Some will be converted to grav APC’s.

I picked up a cake decorator’s airbrush for $60 on Ebay, and it doesn’t have much in the way of pressure… kind of an aquarium sort of pump, but it seems to work just fine.

    Those satellite dishes are epic!

Triggers: Sometimes a deer splattered all over the road will trigger that horrific days-old death smell. Gunfire makes me angry… irrationally so. I didn’t think I signed on for that either.

The local weather is likely a blip, but in the broader sense, I think global warming is a thing. We still shouldn’t rule out precession, and how our sun drifts along on the galactic plane in 26,000 year cycles, and how we are influenced by that. The Mayan long count calendar is amazing in that regard.

@skiptotheend What a great town! Do you have signs for those buildings, or are you going to freehand them. Very nice work. What’s wrong with the shop? It looks great!

I like your answer to Question 2. I’m with you.

    Nice kitbash @dawfydd!

@sundancer That terrain is coming along nicely. It was great to see it from early on, and the progress you’ve made.

@yavasa Some very detailed work on those Warmachine figures! How did you battle with @oriskany go?

    Have a good night, everyone!

    1. End times no, but it might just be coming closer to time for a long dirtnap
    2. Me “triggered”? I think that being put in a place of great emotional distress is generally different from the average SJW definition of commonplace irritation with a situation beyond one’s control.
    3. Let’s not forget the carbon cost of all the science equipment and its transportation to the boat tht will be ever so clean. The problem also comes in that the boat seems to be used by a single person counter to the flights which are essentially international mass transit. I think there’s a lingering smell of hypocrisy here.

Now about that nap I spoke of

Ok, I know I’ve been out for a little while but there’s been good reason. I’ve been busy with a Pettit GGuy Gundam kit (a space teddy bear robot) that has me excited to play with metallics, this Space Marine Redemptor, an old mini from the 80s for general wind down for minor detailing, some kitbashing and modding on figures for a future gift and the planning for a competition piece for Orktober. Yes, not much time to write stuff out so I do apologize to everyone here on the thread to my lack of response. I pledge to chuck in at least one or two more posts on my development of figures during the week.

    20190825_182354

Here I’ve got the Redemptor Dreadnought covered first with Mr. Color Ueno Black, a very good gloss primer, that I thinned with the corresponding product from the same company. No, I didn’t go with the Scythes of the Emperor chapter. It still will look cool as a general gift. After the model sat for a little and dried, lacquer dries quite fast compared to acrylics, I then hit it all with MIG Ammo’s Bluish Titanium. That smeared a little on the glove as I tried to gingerly move the model during my basecoat phase. I’ve worked with this series of paint before and when they state leave it for 24hrs to dry completely they mean it. This means I have some time before I drop a layer of Warhead Metallic Blue over it with some masking for effect and the first gloss coat. I’m thinking of going back with silver and a brass layer before the panel lining and final gloss coat before soing the base.

@doctorether – some of those poses are awesome. I saw some painted by ‘eavy metal painters and I just looked away from them as they looked terrible. So, no pressure to impress me then! 200pts.

    Keep sciencing…it rules. 500pts.

@dawfydd – and why not! 500pts. This is the perfect place to turn that frown upside-down. Very nice he is too. 200pts. Wouldn’t have looked out of place in my Black Templars either.

    1. I am inclined to go with the status answer.

    2. Outstanding answer! 1000pts. See, we are not taking about politics…it was just your answer. Did you read the reply saying that us ‘filth’ need to be ‘purged’? I was tempted to reply “vir-gin!” in the style of Viv from the Young Ones. However, I didn’t.

    3. I know it is real, but it is not the apocalypse we are supposed to believe it is. Totally natural phase of the planet. Very little, if nothing, to do with people.

No, she doesn’t deserve anything. She is a puppet. Where did the boat come from and how come nobody is talking about the crew being flown home on big jets. Someone with “selective mutism” is not going to be doing this. I smell a rat and I haven’t been in McDonalds! I have see it many times before. You get similar stooges after mass shooting.

If that young girl really has ‘autism’ (using the term very loosly) then she is being exploited. However, when she talks about her “fears” then there is no outward signs of it. If you want a better exlaination then i’ll get Heather to write it…she went Happy Mondays when she saw the news reports.

If we ever reach a “tipping point” then you don’t come back! Any predicted tipping points are exaggerated. They have to be otherwise people would know how bummed they really are. Nature seems to like things in equilibrium, but we tend to get in the way. However, we only do this for a little while before Nature makes things right again.

When did ‘criticism’ become an ‘attack’? I missed that meeting. This means you can’t say anything about anything. Well, at least the Nazi’s had stylish uniforms!

You can be as passionate as youlike. Let it all out. Nobody here will (or SHOULD) take it personally.

@mage – NICE! 200pts. The base and weathering on the bike are very impressive too. 100pts. However, I can’t agree with riding one-handed! He should also be wearing something to make him easier to see.

I love the studded shoulder-pad! 100pts. Very Judas Priest.

Those original speeders were terrible! Great at the time, but really, really terrible now.

Assault cannons rule. 200pts. I also liked the Speeders that could carry Scouts.

@sundancer – now they are really tasty looking! 500pts. Next stage could you put a couple of minis in just for looks? Does the setting have sand on it?

@yavasa – AWESOME! The mini on the right has a fantastic ‘leather’ look. Tasty. 500pts. They look like good-guys?

@ceppie – that is always the problem with other people and your stuff. You can never be sure of how they will handle it. If they damage it by accident then they probably won’t tell you so it gets worse!

Nice cabnet! 500pts. I even like the colour. I would have something like that for the caravan.

If you want a good airbrush then I got a Chinese knock-off for £16. Metal, 0.2 needle, and it the same as Dave’s friend bought for £90!

No battle report…not very well (or upright) yesterday.

@horati0nosebl0wer – better late than never! 200pts. You are worth waiting for.

    1. Dirtnap…good one! 200pts. I knew it was you, Frado…

    2. Totally right. 500pts. Triggered my arse.

    3. Stop being rational. Nobody will be able to understand you! 5000pts.

That Dread has a sweet pistol! 100pts. Have you seen the Dread thing that really has a Hvy Bolter as a sidearm?

That is a really nice base coat. Very nice indeed.

I am sorry for not having been posting to this thread beyond first post before this but my weekend was pretty much consumed by worry about my cat and his declining health and today I was taken to vet to be put down. He didn’t eat anything anymore and wasn’t even able to. I feel guilty about it because I never took him to vet early enough when I should had. Considering that two days is maximum number of days that cat can be without food and I always waited much longer when ever he was sick.

Also because of this I didn’t really get anything done on hobby side and that wasn’t even priority. When I made my pledge things seemed to be going back to normal. Turns out I was wrong. Maybe next weekend if I have recovered by then and have motivation.

@mecha82 I’m sorry for your loss. Always sad to lose a loved one. If it helps, guilt is a perfectly ordinary response to grief. I still have it over my cats I lost years ago. Just let yourself grieve and remember the good times.

@unclejimmy I call that dread the ‘Howdy Pardner’. A giant fighting robot suit with a sidearm? I know you play Ariadna like me so your first response will be ‘what is a Jack?’. However, do any of them have sidearms? Except Achilles etc.

    @mage still flitting between chapters?

    Hi All!

More work on the battle boards tonight, after a few chores. I just need to drybrush the cobble and then it’s time to flock the works.

@unclejimmy here’s the grav tank I was talking about from Antenocitis. Very sexy! I’ve got three , and am looking at converting one to an APC.

    advocatus

It was shy a few parts, so I’ll convert it by putting on a smaller turret and some sort of laser or autocannon, along with a missile launcher. I just have to knock the grills off the back and put in a ramp/door.

    advocatus-assembly-rear-underside

@mecha82 sorry for your loss. I have a few cats that I’m very fond of, and know what it’s like to lose one. They become like family members. There was nothing you could have done that you didn’t do.

@horati0nosebl0wer I like that dreadnought. It looks beefier and far more capable than the recent plastic ones.

@unclejimmy I couldn’t find the post that said us ‘filth’ need to be ‘purged’, but I remember it being rather unkind, and poorly written. What would ‘Jebus’ do?

As an alternate APC turret for the grav tank, I was looking at something like a Predator turret. I’ll keep an eye out on EBay. Also, there may be something cheaper on Shapeways. Any suggestions?

    Predator

Autism: it seems people claim to have it when they don’t get enough attention being vegan or lactose intolerant. Same goes for parents who didn’t engage enough with their kids; now they have a ‘diagnosis’ to blame it on. Anyway, it’s a shame that term is tossed around with such abandon, as it takes away from kids who actually are autistic.

I took another look at the Simon and Garfunkel album. If you crop it just right it looks like a woman’s eye view of Garfunkel going down on a big hairy mitt.

    #1429863

Ok, I’m too excited to not share the progress on the Petit GGuy. I’ve got the paint down that I want and only need the gloss coat to finish the Ueno Black mentioned before. I decided to use some Vallejo gold on the nose and eyes just as a point of interest on the face. The barest hint of shift can be caught in the picture. I haven’t gotten to the upright stand yet but it’ll be touches up as well.

    20190826_190528

Another development is that I’ve decided to make the second Orktober project warboss I had last year into a Flash Gitz. There might be more dakka to add but I’m still working on how to outfit the veritable Snazzgun with even greater levels. The pinning of the metal jaw was irritating but necessary as it will likely snap if I just glued it straight on. The bosspole needs could use some glyphs to add to the figure. More is more and I think that the over the top nature of the kitbash will place me well in the upcoming competition. Picture in future.

Really good to see so many things going on with hobbying. I love this community.

@sundancer Bravo on the link of imagery. I hadn’t intended on that at all. It definitely does harken back to that villain with the color. I’ll be sure to show how they depart in the developing paint work.

@ceppie This version is very beefy. Originally I got it thinking I would get a mod kit to have it setup for the Star Phantoms but that required the masterclass kit and not the easy build one I got. No loss with how its turning out.

@unclejimmy I’ve seen it and been halfheartedly moved. I like my modding of things quite a bit and think that there is something to be said for not just taking everything straight out of the box and playing it. I guess its my inner little boy still building with LEGOs and not really having need for directions on how to make a helicopter with opening canopy, side and rear door. The LEGO Movie really did a number for me with the Builder concept and gave me all sorts of warm fuzzy feeling inside.
